Jake's lips tugged up in a slight smile as he nodded, "And I'll live up to it, baby doll."

I felt my lips widen into a smile and he looked amazed s he watched my smile. He turned his attention back to his food which was the same as mine and everyone else's as I moved my gaze around the room.

People were talking amongst themselves including our friends, Sean and Abbey, Shane, Jane and Mike while Alex stayed quiet as he ate. Alpha Young and Luna Grace, The Beta, Gamma and two other girls. Even though werewolves had enhanced hearing, they could only hear our conversation if they concern rated on it especially since there were many going on. And no one seemed to be doing that.

I made me feel at rest since I hated people knowing personal things about me. Since it was none of their business, so they better stay out of it just like I stay out of theirs. As I was chewing my last bite of food on my late, my phone started ringing from my dark jeans pocket with a song from Three Days Grace.

It was paired with my black top as usual with Jake and I's signature black leather jacket. Don't judge me, I know I didn't like Hades for using so much black. He was an old dude while this was our signature look as the school's bad boy and bad girl.

I placed my spoon down on the table and placed my hand inside my pocket. Pulling out the phone, I glanced at the screen. It was Tanner. I picked it up and placed it against my ear as my eyes went to Jake and I realized that he was watching me. I mouthed 'Tanner' to him as I heard Tanner say, "Hey, Max."

Jake nodded and continued eating as he glanced at me from time to time. "Hey, I'm guessing that you called 'cause you saw my text."

"Yeah, I thought that it'll be better if we talked instead of texting back." Tanner said through the phone, sounding a bit worried.

"Okay, so what's Kane planning and is that what has you worried?"

"Yes, and it's something big. He's planning on joining hands with a very strong and ancient vampire."

"Hades?!" I asked in shock since that would mean our two enemies were now working together.

Tanner seemed surprised as he said, "Yes, you know him? He's been over here today with Stephanie who is now surprisingly a vampire."

"Yeah, he's the bad guy other than Kane, even worse than him and more powerful. He also wants me 'cause of my powers."

"He sounds real bad."

"Yeah, anyway, I'm somewhere right now. I'll call you back after to talk about Drake joining you." I said as I noticed the werewolves at the table moving their attention to me. However, Jake's attention has been on me since the beginning of the call.

"Sure. I'll talk to you then." He replied and hung up.

I took my phone away from my ear and placed it back inside my pocket. I took a glimpse at Jake as I muttered, "Kane and Hades have formed an alliance."

He didn't seem surprised as he took a deep breath and released it. "I've thought that might happen. They're the bad guys in our lives, well apart from the gang attacks, but they seemed similar and more likely to click."

"Yeah, and that means Stephanie and Cassie are also on the same side." I replied, and he nodded.

"I noticed that one of your pack members has the scent of a human. How is that she knows about our existence?" Alpha Young asked loudly from his seat at the head of the other dining table.

Jake moved his gaze to him as he replied, "She is Sean's mate, so she is going to become a werewolf too. We had initially planned for her to be told when he planned to mark her, but Hades attacked us and she saw his vampire form."

"Ahh, Hades. I know that ancient and cruel vampire." He said as he furrowed his brows.

"Everyone seems to know him. He must be great at causing trouble." I said as I remembered him having an alliance with Kane now.

"Yes, he is an enemy to all werewolves and humans because all he cares about is himself and building an army." Luna Grace replied, looking unsettled.

"We've heard that about him." Jake replied and she nodded.

"Anyway, why did he attack you and how pray tell did you get involved with him?" Alpha Young asked, looking curious and concerned at the same time.

"It all started with the attack. He said that he wanted me for my powers." I said with a sigh since he wasn't the only supernatural after me. Even Kane wanted to keep me around because of that. And that was also why he lied to me about being my mate. Not that I believed him.
