Chapter 84: Chapter 84

“Ohh… Thought I would be able to see her.” She said and sighed.

“Sir, you have not had your breakfast yet. It's noon already, what would you like to have?” A maid asked him with her head bowed.

“Just prepare some light food.” He said, dismissing her. She nodded her head and scurried off.

“You are quite lucky. You even have maids.” Aria said. He smiled at her.

Few Minutes Later…

Jake was starting to doze off. After he had eaten, Aria started rambling about her numerous vacations. “So tell me. What do you think is the cause of your parents divorce?” Aria asked after she saw that Jake was not interested in whatever she was saying. She successfully gained his attention. He looked at her. “I also don’t know. I once asked my mom and she yelled at me.” He heaved a sigh as he remember the event of that day.

Flashback…

“Dad.” Little Jake shouted as he saw him. His dad did not spare him a glance but hurried up the staircase and walked to his room. Jake did not know what to say of it so he stood anxiously waiting for him as he had to show an art that had drawn. Then suddenly he heard cries upstairs. He became scared and anxious. He heard his dad slammed the door shut and also his mother's wailing. His dad walked down the stairs with his suitcase in his hands. Some clothes like his ties and socks hung out. His dad passed by him without even saying hello to him. “Dad.” He called out after him but his dad already pushed the door open and went out. He saw a car drive before his dad and he threw the suitcase in and said some words. “Drive off.” His dad ordered the driver. “Dad!” He yelled.

What had happened?

He spoke to him that day before and it was all cool. He looked around and saw a tie of his had fallen down. He walked towards it and picked. “Maybe he was going on an urgent trip.” He thought as he walked back into the house with a sad face. He heard his mother crying. He hurriedly ran up that stairs and went into his parents' room. “Mom.” He called out. His mother turned to him with tears dripping down her face. “What do you want?” she asked.

“Why is dad angry with me?” He asked in his nine years old voice. Poor child does not understand what was going on.

“I don't know. Leave me alone.” She yelled at him and he flinched. “Mom, are you angry at me also?” He asked with tears already grazing his eyes. She glared at him and he ran off from the room. He walked into his room and laid on the bed, crying. He covered himself with the bed sheet.

End of Flashback…

“Hey.” Aria hit Jake on his shoulder, trying to bring him out of his daze. He flickered his eyes and looked at her. “What’s up?” She asked. “I asked you if you knew the reason your parents had a divorce and you went into a daze.” She said. As he was about to talk, a car honk interrupted him. He furrowed his eyebrows and stood up from the chair. He walked towards the window and pushed the curtain to a side.

A black limousine drove into the garage and parked. Elegantly dressed, business-like, focused face woman stepped out of the car. She looked around and carried her bag. Four maids scurried out of the house and ran towards her with their backs hunched. “Good day, ma'am.” They all greeted simultaneously. She nodded her head in acknowledgement. “Is young master in?” She asked. “Yes, ma'am.” They replied. She walked into the house, with her heels clicking the floor, making some sounds. The maids walked after her. She twisted the door knob and pushed the door. She went in and saw her son standing beside the window with his hair slightly disheveled and looking at her. No, not her. But the door.

“Good day, ma.” She heard another voice greet. She broke the eye contact she and her son were sharing and looked at the person. She gasped in shock as she took in the girl's facial features. The resemblance was undeniably clear. So apparent. She was his female replica of him. Her ex-husband. Anger surged through her veins.

“And who is she? What is she doing here?” She questioned in a loud voice as she stared at her from head to toe. “I am…” She shunned Aria with her hand raised up. “I was not asking you. I was asking my son.” She seethed angrily. “Mom.” Jake called out in a hoarse voice. He coughed to clear his throat. “She is Aria. A classmate.” He answered with a stoic and emotionless face. He did not know she already knew who she was. She hissed out loudly.

“You can go home.” She said, staring at Jake but was actually referring to Aria. Aria on hearing this, scurried past her and opened the door. She ran out without waving a goodbye at Jake.

“Mom, what was that all for?” He asked her and walked away from the window. “And is that how to greet your mom?” She sneered at him. Ever since his dad left them. She had stopped being loving to him. She does not care about him. He tries his best to understand her. But she just kept on fvcking up everytime.

“I forbid you from seeing her.” His mother said.

“So you know her?” Jake asked with an arched eyebrow. “You know the answer to that.” She snapped at him. He sighed and saw Aria's bag on the chair. As he was about to ask another question, she waved him off with her hands and said. “I don't like being reminded of him.” She said softly and walked up the stairs. “I said it and will say it again, I don’t want to see you with her ever again.” She ordered. “No, mom!” Jake protested and ran to meet her. But it was already too late she went into her room and closed the door. He knocked on the door. “Mom, you can't do this.” He shouted. He kicked the door angrily.

She is always forbidding him from doing lots of things. Has she ever been there to help him? To guide him? To encourage him?

No!. She has never. She did a lot of things she thinks he is not aware of. He is just tired. She kept lying that she went on business trips. She is nothing but a liar.

He just… he just wants to hate her. But he can't. He could not. She was his mother after all.

He does not want to be an orphan whereas his biological parents are alive. He stared at the door as if some kind of heavy wind should blow it off and break its foundation.
