Chapter 10: Chapter 10
JAXON…..
"What the hell were you doing when they broke into the house?" I yelled at them who was in charge of the security of this house. And I glared at my brothers who were standing there with their heads down.
"They were many in number. And we were not prepared for any rogue to attack the house when it's in the middle of the city." One of them said in a low tone.
"We don't understand why they attacked. Their main aim was Madam Monroe. They were here to kill her." My head snapped at the person who spoke with a trembling voice.
"How did they get to know that she's carrying my child? And how do they know that I have kept her here? Only a few members know about this matter. Then who could it be the traitor playing behind my back and trying to kill the mother of my unborn child under my nose?" I spoke up, talking to myself.
"Alpha, I would suggest you shift Madam to the pack house. As they now know about Madam they will attack again. It's not safe here. And if people see rogues here in the city people will make it a big issue. So before it becomes a big issue you should do something about this matter." Their chief Warrior put his point of view in front of me. Which makes sense. I have to talk to Dad about this matter only then we could do something about this matter.
"You all go back to your work. I'll let you know my decision in the morning." saying that I dismissed them and turned toward my brothers.
"You two don't have to feel guilty. I know you two have tried your best to protect Lauren from them. But as they were many in number so you could not handle them and they reached her room. Luckily I reached on time otherwise I don't know what would have happened." I sighed heavily.
"Brother, I think we should bring her to the pack house. She will be safe there." Jace spoke up and a bitter chuckle left my mouth.
"You think so." I looked at him with my left brow raised.
"There are more enemies over there than here. There everyone will try to kill her. There is more danger to her life there than here. Whoever leaked this thing is one of us. So I don't think she will be safe in the pack house." I shared my thoughts with them and they also agreed with me.
"We can't keep her here, not there, then what do we do now?" James asked me and I fell into deep thoughts.
"I'll talk to Dad. Let's see what he says." I told them and they nodded their heads.
"Talk to Dad later. First go to Lauren. She's alone up there and most of all she hasn't gained consciousness yet. She's very terrified and it's bad for the child. You should stay close to her." I looked at James and smiled at him.
"Thanks, you both should go back to sleep. You looked very tired." I said patting their shoulders.
"Indeed. My bones are aching. I need a good sleep." Saying that Jace ran to his room while James also trailed behind him greeting me good night.
I went to my room where I found Lauren lying on the bed silently. I went near her and sat next to her pulling a chair near the bed. Staring at her I reached out my hand to move the hair away from her face. A smile crept on my face looking at her angelic face. "Sorry, Lauren. I could not be with you when you needed me the most. I was so occupied by the works that I could not take out time to spend with you. As you are now pregnant with my child I will protect you with my everything."
As soon as I finished my words Lauren snapped her eyes open. She blinked her eyes at me and I was doing the same. Her eyes were so deep and beautiful that I felt like drowning in them. Her long thick lashes were making her eyes more beautiful.
"How are you feeling now?" I stretched out my hand and held her face while asking her. And she gave me a small smile in response.
"I'm feeling better now. You tell me, are you hurt anywhere? Did the rogues hurt you?" Concern was clear in her voice which brought a broad smile to my face.
"Don't worry, I'm absolutely fine." She smiled at me and sat straight on the bed.
"How are Jace and James?" She again asked in a worried tone.
"They are also fine. Others were injured but no one died in the attack." I told her everything so that she doesn't ask me anything more about the attack.
"I'll go and send something for you to eat. You must be hungry." Saying that I got up to leave the room but a hand grabbed my wrist halting me. I turned around to look at her and she pulled me back making me sit back where I was sitting a while ago.
"You stay here. I don't want you to go away from my eyes." Her words stunned me and I kept looking at her stern face. She crawled to my side and sat beside me wrapping her arms around my torso while placing her head on my shoulder. I was sitting there astounded, not understanding what was happening. Why is she behaving so strangely?
"I missed you. You have no idea how I have spent these days without you. It was very hard for me. I kept waiting for you every day but you didn't show up. I wanted you to accompany me to the hospital but you sent Jace and James. I was so sad. I don't know why I feel this way. But I can't help it. It hurts to stay away from you." Her voice was soft but filled with pain. I could feel her pain in my heart and it was totally strange. Why do I feel her pain? She is not my mate.
