Chapter 9: Chapter 9
LAUREN…….
"You both can go back. You don't have to babysit me." I told Jace who was cutting apples for me after dinner.
"We don't have any death wish, Sister-in-law. Brother will snap our head if we left you alone here. He has strictly ordered us to stay by your side all the time and take care of your every need. So we are at your service 24/7. We are not allowed to leave you alone." I rolled my eyes hearing Jace.
"Overprotective Dad," I murmured while eating my apple.
"Also overprotective uncles."Even if my brother had not told us, we would have stuck to you. Doesn't leave you alone at all. Our nephew or niece is coming. Our heir. We also have some responsibility towards our new member." I smiled at James. And felt so overwhelmed hearing him. This baby is so blessed. He has so many people who are worried for his well-being. But for my Alex, there was no one. And I even couldn't have nutritious food at that time. Tears build up in my eyes remembering my old days filled with struggle and pain. Not only me who struggled at that time, my Alex had too suffered with me. Poor Alex.
"If you insist so much then stay. By the way, it's your house where you can stay as much as you want." I said, smiling at them.
"So I'll make a move then." Saying that I stood up moving to my room. But before I could step on the first stair I felt a hold around my wrist.
I looked back to find Jace standing there holding my hand.
"I think you are forgetting something, Sweetheart" I raised my brows at the word sweetheart.
And he without saying anything hold a glass of milk in front of me while eyeing me to finish it.
"I'm not a child," I whined at him, staring at the milk.
"Yeah, but who is growing inside you needs it. So hurry and finish it. You are not a werewolf so I can't take you on a hunt to have fresh meat. But at least do this little thing. Being a human it will be hard for you to give birth to a werewolf pup and that to a Lycan pup. There is a possibility……"
"Shut up Jace." I flinched at the loud roar coming from my behind and it was James.
"Don't spout nonsense. If you can't talk about good things then don't open your mouth. She's pregnant. It's not good to talk about negative things in front of the unborn baby. This will give a wrong impression on the children." James scolded Jace who was standing there hanging his head low. I felt bad for him.
Without saying anything I took the glass in my hand and started gulping the milk but stopped hearing James's voice.
"Stop!" I looked at him through the glass and pulled the glass away from my lips.
"Come and sit here. Then have it slowly. Don't choke on it." James grabbed my hand and took me with him to make me sit on the sofa.
It gave me a pleasant feeling in my heart being pampered so much. No one has ever pampered me this way since I left my parents. I finished the milk looking at James who was also looking at me with a weird expression on his face which I didn't understand at all.
I placed the glass on the coffee table and stood up to go to my room. "Let me accompany you." Saying that he wrapped his hand around my shoulder and Jace too came to my other side slipping his hand around my waist.
"What's wrong with you too?" I asked James and then Jace.
"We are protecting you. What if you fall down the stairs? We can't take any risk. Tomorrow we will shift your things down to the first floor. Then you don't have to take the stairs." Jace told me then both dragged me with them to my room.
They stayed in my room until I fell asleep. Before falling asleep I strictly told them to go back to their room as soon as I fell asleep. Don't know if they are going to listen to me or not.
I wake up with a jolt hearing a loud commotion coming from downstairs. I tried to understand what was happening around me so I quickly got off the bed and peeked through the window to look outside and saw some wolves running inside the house who looked like rogues. That means we are under attack. But why are they here in the middle of the city? What do they want?
I was immersed in my thoughts and suddenly I heard the door fall down with a loud sound making me frightened with fear. I saw three rogues approaching me and I kept looking at them with my wide eyes. My heart was thumping so loud it felt like it came up to my throat.
"Jace, James," I screamed in fear but no one showed up. Why are these rogues behind me? I didn't do anything wrong to them, did I?
"Get away from me. I'm not a wolf. What did I do to you? Why are you behind me? Leave me alone." I cried walking backward. I threw everything that came to my hand to hurt them but didn't find anything useful to stop them from attacking me. I cursed under my breath not having a wolf. If I would have had one then at least I could fight against them to protect myself and my baby. Please, Goddess help me.
I saw one rogue lunge at me and closed my eyes out of fear as I felt my heart stop beating and I scream. I didn't feel any pain, instead I heard a loud roar which made me snap my eyes open to see a Lycan standing at my broken door. From his smell, I realized it was Jaxon. He hold that rogue and tear it's head off right in front of my eyes with a loud growl. It terrified me to the core and I felt a sudden wave of dizziness and the next thing I know I saw black dots dancing in front of my vision and I blacked out.
