Chapter 18: Chapter 18

Chapter 17

I walked until I came to the outside of the camp but was shocked to see someone sitting there on the grass.

It made me look up and that's when I noticed that it was Trevas. He smiled at me before motioning for me to come over and sit next to him.

"Why are you still awake?" He asked as he looked away.

I also looked at where he was looking and there I saw a few meters away from us was the other camp where Alastor's men were staying. That camp was still bright and I could still hear the laughter even though we were far away as if there would be no war tomorrow.

"I can't sleep" I replied to Trevas but he just nodded and didn't answer.

I turned to him and watched his face, which was still looking at Alastor's camp.

"Why do you want to be king?" I asked him why he was distracted by my behavior and our eyesight was correct.

"Once Alastor, who is just following Queen Mother, becomes king, I can be sure that the kingdom will gradually collapse and the people will suffer. And I can't let that happen" he paused for a moment before speaking again. "I also want to get rid of discrimination against dark users like me. All my life I have experienced ridicule just because I am a dark user"

Trevas stretched out his hand resting on his knees and there came out a black like smoke and swirled round and round in the air.

"I want to change people's belief that as long as dark users are demons so that no one else can experience what I've experienced." his continuation caused me to nod.

It was as if some thorn had been pulled out of my chest because of what he had said. He wanted to be king not for himself but for the good of others. It means there's a good chance he won't betray me. Right?

"Why did you ask?" My attention returned to him when he asked.

"I just want to know if you deserve to be trusted" he slightly laughed.

"I wouldn't say I deserve it. After all, I believe in the saying 'Actions speak louder than words'"

I just stared at him.

"Eh you, you told me once that you would need my power ... Why?"

I gasped. Should I tell him? I thought for a while before deciding to tell him other details after all he also needs to know it in the future.

"There's this someone, I liked him since I was young" I noticed that Trevas suddenly turned to me and focused his attention on me who was earlier in the other camp.

"Who?"

I smiled but that wasn't a real smile. "Luke, we've known each other since childhood and I thought I knew him very well. But I just thought that was it"

Trevas didn't say a word so I just continued. "I trusted him and his family, but he and his family were the cause of my parents 'death. I begged them to save my parents for the sake of our families' friendship but they did nothing and I just found out. that they are the ones who did everything "

"I was so weak at that time so I didn't do anything, and I want when I come back I myself will erase their surname from world history and I need your power to do that"

I turned to Trevas when he suddenly grabbed my hand that rested on top of my knee before he smiled at me.

"I'm also doing this for you" my eyes suddenly widened at what he said.

"What?"

"At first I really didn't want to fight just to get the throne, but when you told me you needed my power when we were still in the jungle I decided to fight."

"What's the connection?" I asked reason to make him laugh.

"When you said you needed me, it actually inspired me. Because for the first time in my life, someone needed me"

Suddenly I tightened my grip on Trevas' hand. What has Trevas' life been like in recent years? How can it feel to have your own mother live angry with you and everyone mocks you just for being a dark user.

"Let's win this war" I told him as his smile widened.

"Yes, let's win"

Inside a room in the palace of Bauxacel two people can be seen talking. The walls and windows are rising and the chandeliers above them are beautiful. The room is wide and large but the only thing there is a big throne on which sits a king who already has white hair on his long hair and beard.

He was alone in the room and dumbfounded in emptiness as he stroked his beard until suddenly the big door opened and there entered a white man.

"Luke" luke walked closer to his king father before placing his arm on his chest and bowing in respect.

"Still no news about him?" The king asked.

Luke shuddered. "My men have circled the whole Bauxacel but we have not seen a shadow of him"

The king nodded and was caught in the sense.

"He's not dead yet" Luke stubbornly. "Maybe he's just hiding someone else in the kingdom so until now I still can't find him"

The king sighed before looking at Luke again. "I plan to take over the kingdom of Beifang"

Luke's eyes widened before he frowned. "Why?"

"The power of the Beifang kingdom is getting stronger and at any time they can oppose us so it would be better if we conquer them sooner so that they will not be a danger to us" replied the king before leaning on his throne.

Luke just nodded and thought for a moment before speaking again. "What's your plan?"

"There will be war between Beifang and the barbarians in the west"

"You want to form an alliance with those barbarians?"

"Yes"

Luke nodded. "Then I will send one of the best generals to help the barbarians in the war—"

"No" the king cuts to what luke says. "I want you to go to the camp of the barbarians yourself"

Luke looked at him in surprise. "May I ask why?"

"You're the only one I can trust Luke, we both know that one of those closest to us is a traitor" Serious promise.

"Alright, I'll make peace with those barbarians and I'll make sure they win the war against Beifang" Luke said as he relieved the king's breath.

"You may go" the king said before signaling to Luke that he could leave.

Luke bowed to him before walking out.

"And Luke" Luke stopped walking and turned to the king.

“Once you’ve conquered Beifang, try to look for Alissa” it said.

"I will" Luke said before continuing to walk again.

To be continued...
