Chapter 17: Chapter 17

Chapter 16

A week passed quickly and finally the day of our departure for the west came as well. Lina and Trevas and I woke up early to get ready but it was late afternoon when we arrived at the camp in the west where the 3,000 warriors led by Trevas were staying.

Trevas should have had 5,000 warriors but all of them were palace personnel and none of the 3,000 warriors Trevas himself trained and strengthened.

What was discussed at first was that 5,000 Trevas and Alastor warriors would be used but Trevas insisted that he would lead his own men so in the end, the king agreed even though Trevas had only 3,000 men while he had 7,000. Alastor.

"Why did you agree to have fewer staff?" I asked him as we walked inside the camp. Lots of green tents stood inside the camp but in the very center was a large tent where we were currently heading.

I noticed that people were looking at us because apart from the clothes we were wearing, Lina and I were the only women here.

When we entered the large tent, Trevas confronted me and answered my question. "I would rather lead 300 staff I trust than 500 staff who at any time could betray me"

I was about to speak but was suddenly distracted by three men inside the tent who were currently talking while surrounding a large table with a map and a pin everywhere. If I were just a normal element user I probably wouldn't understand this map but I'm Alissa Knoxx, the daughter of a powerful general so I understand what is on the map.

"Why are there women here?" The man with long black hair in a navel and a thin beard asked.

"Care to introduce us general?" A man asked Trevas who told me to stop. Trevas is a general?

I turned to Trevas before looking over his shoulder where I just now noticed four stars sewn into his combat clothes that symbolized that he was indeed a general.

"Alissa, Lina, this is lieutenant general Jared" Trevas pointed at the man with a serious face and long black hair. I looked over his shoulder and there I saw three stars sewn into his combat clothes.

"This is sergeant major general Min" Trevas pointed at the blonde -haired man and smiled at us. As I did with lieutenant Jared, I also looked over Sergeant Min's shoulder and there I saw two stars.

"And this is Colonel Jay" Colonel Jay's hair is also black like Lieutenant Jared's but his face is much brighter compared to Lieutenant Jared's who always seems to be angry with the world.

"Everyone, this is Lina" Trevas pointed at Lina "And this is Alissa"

"And why are they here?" Sergeant Min asked.

"They are powerful Mage and we need them in battle" Trevas replied before walking closer to the table and examining the map lying there.

"Do they know anything about fighting?" Lieutenant Jared asked, raising an eyebrow at me.

"Are you mocking us?" I asked him why he was turning in my direction.

"No, I just want to make sure you don't be fooled right during the match" was its reply.

I would have spoken more but I was preceded by Trevas. "That's enough Lieutenant, they're not our opponents here"

Lieutenant Jared nodded before looking back at the map on the table.

"Our camp and Prince Alastor's camp will be attacked at the same time tomorrow afternoon. Prince Alastor's camp will attack on the right of the enemy camp while we are on the left before we surround it at the same time to ensure that the barbarians are defeated. The king also strictly ordered to defeat the barbarians first before capturing the most leader "Sergeant Min explained while moving the flags on the map to better understand what he was saying.

Trevas nodded before speaking and that was exactly the beginning of our planning for the match tomorrow which lasted almost five hours. Finally the planning also ended even though it was dark. I got up from my seat and was about to approach Trevas who was currently talking to Sergeant Min but before I could get close Lieutenant Jared suddenly stopped in front of me.

"What?" I asked him angrily. Earlier during the meeting, he always contradicted what I was saying, so I could see that this person was very angry with me.

"I still don't trust you" he said with my face.

"When?"

"What when?" He asked.

"When did I ask?" I asked before he passed and continued walking towards Trevas who had just finished talking to Sergeant Min.

"Pfft" I heard Lina hold back her laughter which now followed me so I stopped and faced her.

"What?"

"Lieutenant Jared's just not cute" said Lina who widened my eyes.

"Cute?"

Lina nodded while laughing before simply turning to Lieutenant Jared who was now walking out of the tent with colonel Jay.

I frowned and frowned before looking at Lina who was now staring at Lieutenant Jared who was walking away.

I just shook my head before continuing to walk towards Trevas who was currently staring at the map on the table.

"Why are you stupid?" Trevas looked at me before shaking.

"Just thinking" he said before starting to walk. "Let's go, maybe dinner is ready"

We once walked to the very center of the camp where there was a bonfire surrounded by camp members. They talked loudly while eating but they became even louder when they saw the three of us, Lina and Trevas, walking closer.

Two thin men approached us and handed us a plate containing a healthy salad that was everyone's dinner. Trevas and I pulled closer to the bonfire and I agreed to pull.

"Usog don tol"

"Fast, fast"

They said to give us a seat to sit in front of the bonfire. I saw Lina stand next to lieutenant Jared so I also stood to her right but I was surprised when Trevas stood to my right.

"Are you married?" Lina asked lieutenant Jared but I didn't hear the next thing they were talking about when I was distracted by a guitar playing before I heard them sing together.

'A hero of war

Yeah that's what I'll be

And when I come home

They'll be damn proud of me

I'll carry this flag

To the grave if I must

Cause it's a flag that I love

And a flag that I trust '

Suddenly my heartbeat quickened as I listened to them sing. I know this song. Father used to sing it everytime when he was still alive.

"Hero of war ... The title of that song, right?" I asked the man playing the guitar.

He looked at me and I noticed that others looked at me as well.

"You know the song‘ to miss Alissa? " I smiled before nodding.

"I always heard when I was young, I also did a different version when I was young" I said while remembering mama who was with me in doing another version of the song.

"Another version? Can you sing for us miss Alissa?" The man playing the guitar offered before the intro of the song started playing so I had no choice but to agree to what he wanted.

A hero of war

Yeah that's what you'll be

And when you come home

Please hug me tightly

I'll stay here and pray

For you to came back

Cause your the man that i love

I'll wait till I die.

Suddenly everyone fell silent when I finished the song and like them, I couldn't help feeling sad as I remembered the times when my loved ones had to leave to go to war. I can't help but feel sad as I remember the times when I did nothing but wait for everything to end because I was weak and when now that I am strong and able to fight, the person I was waiting for was gone.

"That's very lovely miss Alissa" commented while playing the guitar and the others agreed but I just smiled at them.

The conversation continued and the old noise returned and since it was late at night, Lina and I decided to go to our tent and rest. But no matter what I do to close my eyes I can't sleep and just roll around in bed.

"Lina" I called lina who was on the other bed but she didn't answer.

I stared at the roof of the tent

'Anna?'

'Are you still worried about me?' Question of a voice that I haven't heard in days.

'Am I doing it right?'

'What do you mean?'

'Is it right for me to help Trevas get the throne?'

'don't you need his power to take revenge on the king of bauxacel?'

I stretched out my hand in front of me before examining the flower markings on my wrist. ‘What if Trevas betrays me? What if he doesn't help me when he becomes king? '

Anna was silent for a moment. 'Do you think Trevas can do that?

I, on the other hand, suddenly fell silent while thinking deeply. Will Trevas be able to betray me? He has been kind lately and has done nothing to break my trust in him.

Then suddenly I remembered Luke. Luke has been my friend since childhood and it became true how I felt about him and I thought he was the same. I trusted him more than I have ever trusted anyone but in the end, he was able to betray me.

I got up and decided to go for a walk first to meditate because I also couldn't sleep. I took a thick coat over my clothes and put it on before exiting the tent.

I hugged myself because of the coolness of the breeze. There are still people awake at this time so I still meet people who smile at me before continuing to walk. I passed by the campfire and saw that there were still people around there but there were only a few and Trevas was gone, he was probably asleep.

To be continued....
