Chapter 62: Chapter 62

“ETHAN!”

I shriek at the top of my lungs when Ethan was blasted away. Auger took a full blown punch on his stomach, and blood gushed out of his mouth. Ethan rolled on the ground then his head on a solid object.  My whole body trembled, and weakened from the sight.

Auger did not even shred a sweat. He stood there without any sign of emotion. I clenched my trembling hands into a fist. Ethan wasn’t moving from his spot, which is totally alarming. I inhaled distinctly then pushed my throat to yell.

“ETHAN! GET UP!”

Tears were falling endlessly on the ground where I was crawling. I heard a buzzy growl coming from Ethan’s spot. I followed him with my eyes when he gradually pulled himself up to face Auger who, at the same time, halt before him.

“W-what are you?” Ethan whispered while his brows were furrowed, and his forehead is scrunch up.

Auger did not say anything. He proceeded to take a step forward to attack Ethan. He aimed his tightened knuckles to Ethan who quickly dodge, and rolled away from his sight. Ethan couldn’t fight back from Auger’s mightiness. Even I was stunned to see someone this indestructible.

“Why aren’t you exchanging blows with me?” Auger asked casually, as if Ethan is a man he just picked a fight with in the streets. Auger raised his fist then motioned my husband to have a duel with him, without running away.

Ethan growled then positioned himself in a combat mode. Auger did not fazed whether he was facing a werewolf or a man. I bet he wouldn’t take a step back even if he’s brawling with a giant.

This man is not afraid of anything.

“I don’t want to kill you.”

Auger scoffed then stood up straight. He placed his hand on his waist, then raised his brows at Ethan. It was as if he threw a joke at him that he can’t laugh with.

“Kill me? How are you so sure you can kill me?”

My husband did not say anything for a minute. His eyes remained on Auger who stood mightily five meters away from him. I have to do something from this fight. We are already losing a lot a blood, and both of us might not make it in time to the airport.

We have to hurry up, and get our asses there.

I looked up at the atmosphere to see where is Harry at. I could no longer hear the gliding of the helicopter, nor even catch a glimpse of his silhouette. Could it be he ditched us already? But that’s impossible for him. I know he wouldn’t do that.

I believe in Harry’s timing. I believe he will come here, and drag us out of Auger’s hold. It’s hard to admit it but Ethan, and I can’t do anything to defeat someone like him. He is trained brutally, and his body was hard as a stone.

Ethan cocked his head to the side, “Don’t underestimate me.” he grumbled darkly then his eyes shifted.

Auger’s lips curved up into a smirk then leaned his hand against a tree beside him.

“I am not underestimating you. I know how strong you are, Ethan. I did an investigation to you. You are a serial killer. You killed hundreds of people with your bare claws. You shred bloods of humans for your own entertainment. You escaped from my Sergeant’s grasp, which is known for his cruelty…”

“You impressed me, Ethan, by that. That is why I can’t belittle you. You are my match.”

It was getting alarming because I don’t know if Auger was complimenting Ethan, or he is sending a death hidden code in his words.

“Which is also treacherous because I have been waiting for this with my whole life.” Auger raised his arms, shoulder level, then looks up at the sky. My whole body shuddered when his smile altered menacingly. His mood changed, and the ambiance that is surrounding him thickened.

“I am seeking for a challenge that will ignite my strength. All my life I have been punching a tree, and a rock-“ he abruptly smashed with his bare fist the tree he is leaning on.

My jaw hit the ground when it broke into pieces then fall down. Dust particles surrounded the area, blinding my sight. I coughed, and panic. Does that mean that Ethan could have broken a bone right now because Auger punched him on his stomach? I frantically looked around, searching where he had been through when Auger’s voice echoed through my ears.

“Now that you arrive in my life, let’s see who will win this match.”

The dust faded, and my heart did a somersault when I saw Auger was already an inch away from Ethan who was daze to see him.

“ETHAN! WATCH OUT!” I screamed, vibrating the shrubs besides me. I motioned my hand, telling him to move away.

Ethan’s eyes light up, knocking him back to his senses. He hurriedly dodge Auger’s attack then sprint his way towards where I was. My heart was beating, lost in its own rhythm when Ethan picked me up from the ground.

“It will take us forever to fight this guy. We need to escape from his sight because we don’t have much time here.” Ethan exclaimed while running with his full speed. I wrapped my arms around his neck, careful enough so I wouldn’t fall on the ground.

Ethan was running with two foot. I looked back to see Auger chasing us. He grab a rock that has the same size with his head then blasted it towards us. Before it could hit me Ethan drop on the soil then use his four legs to dash away. I sighed in relief because we are losing him.

“I want to kill him. He hurt you.” Ethan snarled like a beast he was. I stroke his cheek while hushing him. I know he’s mad, and I know he wanted to seek revenge for me but he doesn’t need to.

Like he said, the fight will not end if both of them hold the same strength. Ethan was suppressing himself because he will drain his energy. We still need to make it to the airport.

“Do you know where Harry is?”

I shook my head, “All I could recall is that he was stopping me from jumping off from the helicopter because we need to wait for his back up.”

Ethan did not say anything. He returned his attention to our path he is taking when I snuggled against the back of his neck. Even if it’s impossible I will not stop from pleading for the government to take down their plan of capturing Ethan. It’s useless, and it will gain them nothing. They can tell the whole world about it, but there are some people out there who would continue to tell their story how they encountered a great werewolf.

“I suddenly remember, Ethan, that I have a twin sister.”

“Twin sister?” he asked, bemused to hear my word.

I nodded, “She was….also a werewolf.”

It took him by surprise to hear this. He gasp but did not say anything for a moment. I kept on looking behind because Auger might be trailing without us noticing it. Good thing when it comes to speed, Ethan is in advantage. Auger can’t keep up with us because Ethan is using his four legs.

“What happened to her?”

I breathe in sharply, closing my eyes while reminiscing, “She was killed right in front of me.”

“Natasha, you don’t have to tell me if it’s tormenting you-“

“No, Ethan. I feel like I have to tell you this because I want you to feel I understand you. I know I say this a lot for the past weeks. I know I have been nagging you after I confess to you what I truly felt. But I want you to know that…”

I fade out, looking into he distance. My hands tighten around his neck, but not to the point of choking him. Just enough for him to feel my embrace.

“That you are my everything, Ethan! I will do whatever it takes to-“

Something appeared right before us when I am not yet even finish of my sentence. Ethan halt from his tracks. It was as if everything had slowed down when Auger jump over us while his arms were spread apart. My pupils dilated, and my lips parted. Ethan was yelling something at me. He was telling me to duck so Auger wouldn’t catch me when everything was already too late for me to react.

Auger took above Ethan’s back. He enfold his arms around my neck, strangling me. I choked, and fought back while wriggling my whole body when I felt a breath fondled on my earlobe, making my whole body shudders.

“You are not going anywhere.”

My horrified eyes glances at the side to see Auger. He was holding a gun, and I followed where it is pointing at. I swallowed the lump in my throat that is blocking the passageway, and the color of my face drained.

“NATASHA!”

“If I can’t kill your husband, then I have to kill you first.”

He pulled the trigger. Ethan was yelling something at me but he wasn’t audible from my perspective. Ethan stretch his arms to reach me. My mind went blank, and everything around us are starting to get fuzzy when Auger stumbled.

His hands loosen a little. I twisted my head to see a blood was pouring down from his stomach. He was shot. I blink, trying to process what just happened when someone yelled from a distance.

“NATASHA! ETHAN! COME ON!”

I lifted my face up, and saw it was Harry. A tear escapes from my eye when he stormed the place with his men. He was holding a gun while gesturing his men to follow him.

They came….they finally came just on time.

“Natasha, you’re safe…”
