Chapter 61: Chapter 61

I remained on my spot as everything happened in a slow state of matter. Auger aimed the gun’s mouth on my forehead. I squint my eyes when a  tear escapes from it. I was ogling at the bright oceanic atmosphere. The weather was tranquil today, contrasting to what I felt.

I did not search around just to look for something that could help me to escape from this miserable situation. There’s no point for me to fight back to a Marshal. Auger was trained to become strong like a monster. His stamina can be compared to a beast. He can easily kill me with his fist if he wants to. He was just holding back earlier since he knows I was their target’s wife.

However, even if they ask me a million times whether I know or nor where Ethan’s whereabouts. Still, I will not let them find out where he is. We have fought so hard, and went this far.

‘Natasha, we need to escape together so I could start a life with you, again.’

I bit my bottom lip when I recalled Ethan’s words. That’s right. He had save me a couple of times now. Yet, why am I lying down here, and accepting my fate?

“Any last words before I kill you?” I heard him asking. His finger was ready to pull the trigger when I shakily move my head to look at him upside down.

A smile gradually formed on my lips when blood was gushing out. I couldn’t move my whole body, and it was impossible to escape from his vision. He has more advantage compared to me who is limping, and losing a lot of blood.

“C-can I tell you something?” I begged him when my voice broke down. My sight were blurred, that caused I couldn’t see him that clearly. I hope, and implored he would listen to me, and give me a chance to voice out what I felt right now.

A long ear-splitting silence enveloped us. I swallowed the thing that is blocking my throat from passing the oxygen to my lungs. I slowly raised my quivering hands just so he could listen to me.

“Please…before you kill me.”

Auger did not say anything for a minute. It looks like he was contemplating whether he should give what I want, or kill me on the spot. My tears did not stop from falling when he abruptly pulled the trigger, and an up roaring sound blasted right beside my ears. It was as if my soul left my body while I was breathing heavily. I could feel my heart accelerating abnormally against my ribcage.

“That is a warning if you do something stupid.” He grumbled darkly then sat on the ground. His gun’s mouth did not left my head.

“Five minutes.” He said with controlled tone.

I parted my unsteady lips when he abruptly stood up, and cocks his gun’s magazine. I was bemused while watching him when he pointed the mouth on my forehead. His eyes holds void, and his lips were twitching.

“Time’s up.”

“B-but, I haven’t –“

“I already wasted too much by just looking at your pathetic scums face, Natasha. I have a country to carry on my shoulder. It’s my honor to kill your husband. I gave you a chance earlier to speak, but you did not participate accordingly. You also violated a law  by helping a wanted serial killer to escape.”

He crack his joints on his neck, then slope his head to his right. He looks vicious, and tears won’t stop him from doing what he is ordered to.

“Face it, Natasha. You and your husband are nothing compared to the government, and to its people. You can not fight the law. Go against it, and your life ends. I simply don’t care if you have a family to feed, or you love your vexatious pet that ends up marrying it. Even if he repent from his sins, he is living in our man made law where justice will be served to those he slaughtered!”

With in a blink Auger pulled the trigger. My eyes slowly widened, and everything around us stop from moving. The only thing that was in motion was the gun that is going to penetrate on my forehead.

Auger just prove to me that he is ruthless, and has no sympathy. How ironic coming from him to discuss this matter when he can’t even know the difference of killing, and giving someone a second chance to prove their innocence.

Ethan has no choice. Because if he will not fight back, all of us are going to die, and all our efforts will he put to vain. I know I got scared of my own husband before because of the quantity of his killings. However, it will not change the fact he really develop into a great person he is compared when I first met him.

I watched as how the bullet was about to bury against my skull when something appeared from the corners of my eyes. Before I could take a look at it the bullet flew away from the other direction. It hit a tree, and a hole appeared from it. My jaw drop when I realized someone smack the bullet that is about to shot me.

The ground shook, and all of the shrubs around us vibrated from the sound that is ringing against my ears. It was a screeching animalistic growl of a beast.  My eyes slowly widened when I look up. I was not wrong. It’s him! He’s alive, and okay!

“E-ethan…” I crawled towards his way even if my body was about to give up on me. Suddenly, all of the exhaustion I felt hit at once. I hugged his ankle then buried my face on his fur, crying, and was glad that he is doing well.

“Natasha…honey.” he mumbled then bent on his knees to carry me gently between his arms.

“What did they do to you?” he asked. His voice was steady, but I know deep down he wanted to slaughter Auger on his spot.

I coughed then wave off my hand in dismissal. I flinched from torment but I did not waver about it.

“I jumped off from the helicopter…to follow you.”

Ethan looks confused, and at the same time shock. His brows knitted into a straight line, and his forehead scrunch up.

“Y-you did what? You jumped? That high? Shit, woman…” he hugged me tightly against his chest, and before I could react his shoulders were shaking terribly. Something drop on my forehead. I raised my finger to touch what it is, and realize it was a tear.

“You really fucking love me.” he mumbled against my lips then left a soft, yet passionate kiss before be stood up then face Auger who cocks his gun while looking at Ethan. No emotions were evident in his eyes.

“How dare you hit a woman.”

Auger’s lips twitch, “What can I say? I believe in equality.”

Ethan compressed his hands then cracks them.

“I guess you dispatch all of my men.” Auger noticed when he wander his eyes all over at Ethan’s body. That’s when I notice he was wounded, and pretty much pushed his body again on the edge but he can still stood up with dignity while facing Auger.

“Those men of yours are weak. I literally blow them off with one punch even if they outnumbered me, and come from different directions.”

Auger did not say anything. In fact, I could not even read what he is thinking. Auger may be a human like me but he holds something within him that speaks imperil, and authority that when you see him walking in the middle of the hallway you have to bow down with respect. You have to give him a way, or else you will face great consequences.

“You’re right. They are weak, and useless.” Auger agreed then closed his eyes. He turned around, and aimed to leave the place.

My jaw drop, thinking he was that easy to give up. That’s it? Just because Ethan singlehandedly took care of his troupes he is now going to run away with his tail between his legs? I glanced at Ethan who seemed to be out of words when someone took a punch on his jaw. The impact blew him away, and crashed on a massive rock.

“ETHAN!”

I tried to move. My hands is stretching to reach him when Auger spoke. My whole body went numb for a second, excluding my head who gradually turned around to get a glimpse of Auger who was stripping his upper uniform, exposing his carved like barreled chest.

“That is why I am going to take this matter with my own hands.”

He positioned himself in a combat pose. He crack the bones on his neck then rolled his shoulders.

“Let’s get this over with. Time is ticking.”

Auger walked passed beside me, heading straight to where Ethan is limping to stand up. That blast took him by surprise, and coming from a man who is a human. Before he could take another step further I grabbed his ankle.

“Auger! Please! You don’t have to do this-“

He kicked me on the face with his boot, and I hear the bones on my nose crack. I flew away, and hit a solid object that halt me. I dropped on the ground, weakened. I attempted to move but everything was dark, and spinning.

“NATASHA! HOW DARE YOU KICK MY WIF?!”

I was dozing off, and my body was giving up. It was telling me to take a rest already, and not fight back anymore. I stretch my shaking arms, pushing myself to move when I could not take it anymore.

I fall back on the ground while crying in pain. I heard Ethan was fighting Auger who is a beast when it comes to combat. I open my lids only to see the duel was spinning equally. It means they hold the same strength.

“E-ethan…”

I hope….

I hope he will win this.
