Chapter 63: Chapter 63
Ethan clasp me between his arms, securing me into a binding, and warm hug. He caressed my forehead lightly then I felt his devoted eyes glance at me. I look up, and our eyes locked for a moment.
“Let’s escape this hell hole.” he mumbled, as if everything around him bleached, and I am the only person he can see in his eyes right now.
I smiled then nodded, giving him my hand. Ethan took them then draw me away from that place. He place me above his back as we strolled our escape route. I saw Harry up ahead, gesturing his hands that we need to get going. Ethan took him, and brought him up beside me. Harry held on Ethan’s fur so he wouldn’t lose his balance.
“I am glad you’re alive. I thought that fall killed you.” Harry shuffled my hair playfully. I chuckled but look from my shoulder to see his men surrounding Auger, holding him.
“Don’t worry. My men will get a hold of him. We need to get out of here, quickly, before the central office sends more troupes to follow us.” Harry placed his hand above my shoulder then stroke it softly.
I smiled at him, thankful because if it weren’t for Harry I would be dead by now, or any of us. He arrived there just on time. Just when I was about to get rest assured I winced when I felt a pang of pain. I glance down at my body that were covered with bruises.
“Fuck, what did that monster do to you?” Harry asked. I shook my head at him, telling him that it’s alright, and that it shouldn’t matter. What’s crucial is that we need to make it out alive out of this place before another set of forces will hunt us down.
“He kicked her on her face, and treated her like a fucking pebble that is blocking his way.” Ethan growled like a savage beast he is.
“Don’t worry. I’m alright.” I feign a smile that would make sure Harry will not notice. My condition is not important right now. I am still breathing, and kicking. If we falter from our tracks, we wouldn’t make it.
“Natasha, you’re sweating bullets. Are you okay?”
I nodded in response, giving him a thumbs up. I felt Ethan’s stare, and when I look down he was looking at me from the corners of his eyes. He looks worried, communicating with me using our eyes to make sure if I am alright. I caress his back gently, giving him a consolatory smile.
They don’t need to worry that much about me. I am doing fine. Besides, once we escape this country I could seek medical treatment about this pain I am feeling. It was seeping through my entire system. It was as if it’s garnering my soul.
“Up there is my chopper. I asked for another back up because the other one is about to snap up. There are also artillery that we could use in case someone onslaught out of nowhere.”
I followed with my eyes where his finger is pointing at. I breathed out in alleviation when Ethan halt right below the helicopter that is gliding at the atmosphere. Someone peek out through the entryway, and in just a blink a rope ladder was dropped down.
“Ethan, you go first.” Harry insisted.
Ethan nodded, and return to his normal state. He turned around, then hastily climbed up. I followed behind him. This time, I did not look below so my vision wouldn’t spin from the heights. We need to speed up. I could sense Harry was trailing below me, making sure that I would not fall.
Ethan successfully went to the top. He peep his head then stretch his arms to reach me.
“Natasha! Grab my hand!” he yelled. I gestured my head, and pushed myself. I took out my hand when I am almost about to make it when my vision started to spin, and my stomach twined into a knot. It’s like everything I ate is about to gush their way out of my mouth.
I shook my head, pulling myself together. I need to make it! We’re almost there! I expanded my unsteady hand, groaning in anguish. Ethan was holding the side steel while half of his body was about to turn upside down just to get a hold of me.
“Natasha! Hold on!”
However, my head spin like crazy, and my vision started to doubled. I could feel my body descending, and my hand is slowly loosening its hold on the rope. Ethan was screaming but he was inaudible. He was slowly fading out when I felt a strong hand pushed me up again, keeping me still.
“Natasha! Wake up! You’re losing consciousness.”
It was as if I snap back to realism when I felt Harry was pushing my back. I blink then look up, my vision was starting to have its focus again. I inhaled sharply then grasp the rope. Ethan fortuitously pulled me up, then hug me close-fitting when I reach his side.
“You scared me there.” he mumbled against my ear. His hands were snaking their way on the back of my waist.
I did not say anything. Instead, I pulled away, and motioned him to help Harry. Ethan got the message then he scoop closer at the edge of the helicopter, offering his hand to Harry. Some of his men also helped him to hop on.
While they are busy meddling with Harry I glanced down on my legs to see a bodily fluid was dripping down. I winced, and felt a scrutinizing pain down there. I breathed in, and out then shook away this painful sensation.
“Headed straight to the airport, we don’t have much time.” Harry crosses the distance between him, and one of the pilot who is riding this vehicle.
“Sir, there is a complication I course. The south gates were swarmed by the authorities while the west entrance are heavily guarded by Auger’s company.”
Harry cursed the stomped on his feet. He suddenly look so stress about the situation. I couldn’t help but to feel an encumbrance while watching him arguing with his men if there is a route we can track. They have seen through to our plan, and this country will make sure we will not escape from their sight without getting the justice they are seeking.
“Hey, relax. You look constipated.”
I look at Ethan who sat in front of me. His body was messed up, and his left eye was bruised. He looks defiled. He lift his hand then massage my shoulders.
“We are going to get out of here, okay? I promise you.” he guaranteed. I return the smile then leaned my head against his arm.
“I know, Ethan. We still need to start as a family, together.”
I abruptly remember Bobby. He doesn’t have any idea that we are going to flight from this country without his acknowledgement. It pains me to be that far away from him. My lips shape into an uncontrolled sob but I quickly conceal them. I don’t want to ad another fuel to our burned hearts. At least, we are sure that Bobby is safe.
Ethan would cause havoc, and he wouldn’t waver to kill everyone in this world to avenge Bobby.
“It seems something is hurting you, Natasha.” Ethan mentioned about what happened earlier. I shrugged my shoulder, dismissing it.
This is not the perfect time to talk about what I felt. Harry is finding a solution how to get there without stumbling upon the forces. Ethan’s body is all beat up because of Auger’s wrath. I, on the other hand, is all bruised up but I can still breath.
“This is nothing, Ethan. I am just….exhausted.” I reasoned then averted my eyes, looking at Harry who was contacting someone.
He was pacing back, and forth whole throwing his hands into the air with exasperation. I slowly push myself up, and Ethan help me to stand up. I stormed my way towards him, and when Harry turned around he was stunned to see me.
“Natasha…”
I took his hands then placed them above my chest, where my heart is pounding. I felt Ethan’s hand secured my waist, against the idea that I am holding Harry’s hands but he couldn’t do anything since Harry is helping us. He might throw hands after we escape.
“We’re so sorry we drag you into this mess.”
Harry open his mouth, forming a word inside his head, but failed to let it out. He sighed then gave the phone to one of his men. He gestured him to take care of the caller, and the man salute.
“Natasha, it’s okay. You don’t have to say you’re sorry about it. I am doing this for the both of you.” Harry took a glimpse at Ethan who did not say anything but I know he was acknowledging him.
“Because I saw how you two fought, and is willing to sacrifice your life just for the sake of the other. It’s like I am seeing a one soul attached together.”
He sighed, licking his lower lip that desiccated before continuing his words.
“I will not let those pesky government here in our world to tear you in half. Fuck their ideology of serving justice if most of them are putting to death the activists secretly.”
Harry do have a point there. There are a lot of vicious murderers out there that can get away easily if you have money. They can escape from their crimes in just a snap of their finger. Justice can’t be serve to those who are suffering with void.
Justice is for the prosperous.
“Sir! I track a good news! The east port is open, and there are no signs of military forces there. I have also sent a back up from our side to keep those regime occupied.”
“We will make it.”
It was as if a thorn was pulled out of my chest. I felt a strong pair of arms wrapped around my back.
“Finally…” Ethan whispered on the nook of my neck, gently snuggling.
