Chapter 60: Chapter 60
Seconds...days...weeks... months until years have passed ever since my parents have died from the accident. All of their relatives are also deceased, which that leads me to nothing.
My parents left all of their monetary fund for me. However, since they did not taught me about how to be independent, and how to live on my own since all my life reckon on them. I literally do not know how to budget my own needs, wants, and how to separate the bills. It was a catastrophe to live on my own until I have no choice when the bank bought our house, and I was forced to move out.
It was a tough-minded choice, especially when it comes to finances, and budgeting your own money. I barely survived on my own until I found a bargain-priced apartment which runs by a sweet lady. Well, it wasn’t that much of a crap, and I can certainly lived with peace.
I gather all my things, and disregarded them one by one. When everything was settled I was a little proud with my accompaniments. I glanced at the picture frame beside me that was placed above a table. There, I saw my parents’ wide smile that could heal any incurable diseases out there. I slowly twisted my body, and crosses our distance.
I grabbed the frame then inspect it above my palm. I caressed the edges, removing the excess dust. I sighed in defeat while nibbling on my lower lip. Something was missing. Part of me was still torn. I know my parent’s death almost caused me to lose my sanity. Yet, there was a profound, and larger hole that is still apparent here in my heart. I clenched my hand into a balled fist tightly before realizing that I was bawling my eyes out.
I blink, then slowly upraised my fingers to brushed my drenched face. My vision abruptly clouded, causing me to have difficulties to see anything clearly. My heart ached painfully, and my whole body went rigid. I was crying my eyes out when I felt a presence before me. I tried to move my body but every muscles was in agony when someone spoke.
“You really have the guts to jump off from that helicopter, huh?”
It was a voice coming from an unknown man. I grunted in torment as I slowly pushed myself to move, jolted my eyes. A figure was standing inches away from me. My eyes were still blurred from the weeping when sudden memories flickered inside my head. That’s right. I thought I was going to die earlier after jumping off from that incredibly elevated height so memories flashes before my eyes, thinking I would kick the bucket.
I remember my sister, Nadine, who was also a werewolf like my husband, Ethan. It pains me because why did my brain forgot about her? Is it because I was too young back then I couldn’t figure it out how old we were? Or is it because I was weak to reminiscence all those tragical events that I witnessed that my brain chose to forget about it? I don’t know. I sighed, and tardily roamed my eyes when I caught something that had me stricken.
My lips formed into an uncontrollable sobs when I saw my sister reaching her little fingers to me. Her smile did not falter or changed even when I last saw her. I know I must be hallucinating or something because deep down my it pains me to accept her death after all these years. I was about to grab her hand, close when the wind blew raspingly, fading her away. I shook my head, begging for her to come back when a voice jam my ears.
“Wake up, you’re seeing someone we can’t see.”
That is when I snap back to physicalness. I look up only to see a man wearing a uniform was glancing down on where I was lying upon. I blink before slowly looking down to see my body all wounded. My ears twitched when I heard the engine of a helicopter roaring in the distance.
I jumped from the helicopter.
“She’s finally back to his senses.” he grumbled then I noticed he stood up straight, placing his hands behind.
I winced when I attempted to move since I am surrounded by military unit. All of their heavy weapon were pointed at me. I swallowed the knot that is blocking my throat, then parted my lips to breath in, and out. My eyes seize the name that was printed on his uniform.
“M-mr. Auger…”
He’s the Marshal that Allen was talking about.
He did not commented anything. Instead, the side of his lips curved up derisively, reaching the corner of his eyes.
“Allen is dead, and it’s all thanks to your pesky pet dog.” he said with disgrace, talking about my husband. Something snap inside me. My brows slowly knitted into a straight line. I moved my jaw when he finally captured my whole attention.
“My husband is not a pet, and he did not kill Allen!” I yelled while breathing heavily. I will not tell him that Harry primitively killed one of his minions. His eyes remained looking fixedly straight into my soul before he placed a hand on my shoulder, fondling it softly.
“Well, who ever killed does not matter to me.” he darkly said.
“Now, let’s all get straight to the point here, Natasha.” he mentioned my name with revolt before clearing his throat.
“Where is that pesky dog?”
I gritted my teeth, “My husband is not a pesky dog. He is a human.”
“Oh!” he looked amused while watching my reaction, “You think that beast is a human? That man-slaughtering behemoth is a human?” he looks taken aback while he placed his hand above his chest. I inhaled sharply then look around.
There is no escape even if I plan about something. I am outnumbered, and weakened because of my recklessness. I know they can easily shot me here, and leave me dead. I just hope they will not capture Ethan successfully, not after everything we have been through together.
“Ethan is a good man. Believe me, Sir. He did not intend to kill some of your man since he was just protecting me-”
I was not even yet finish to formulate my sentence when he smack my face, causing me to avert my attention to the other direction. I gasped, taking me by surprise when he grabbed my collar, and pulled my face closer to him. I could feel his breath caressing right above my skin. I narrowed my eyes when our lips were almost brushing against each other when he spoke.
“Do you think I am that effortlessly to be fooled by your nonsense? Are you hearing yourself? You are protecting a monster?”
My pupils dilated, and I could feel an intense energy flowing through my veins. My veins throb on my forehead when I screamed back at him.
“Ethan is not a monster! My husband is a normal pers-”
This time I flew away from the impact when he smack me again. I felt my body rolled, and rolled on the dirt until my body hit something solid, halting me from resonating farther. I panted, and pushed myself to get up even though my body is yelling at me to lie down.
“Step on her back, don’t let her get away.” his deadly voice ring. Before I could fully stood up from the ground a foot shoved my face on the dirt, making it hard for me to breath. I struggled, and wriggled my body to get away from their hold when I felt his presence kneeling beside me. His lips leaned down on my ears, its tip were brushing against the lobe before he speak.
“I am asking you nicely, Natasha. Where is your husband?” he pressed the word ‘husband’ this time with polite. I heard him snap his fingers, and in an instant one of his troupes removed their foot on the back of my head. Auger pulled my hair up. I panted, catching for air to fill my lungs with oxygen when fillip my forehead.
“Where is he?” his voice was controlling, and demanding.
I pursed my lips, my whole body was shivering when I look at him from the corners of my eyes.
“W-would you believe me if I say that I don’t know where he is?”
An ear-splitting silence dominate between us. It looks like Auger was thinking of something deeply when he stood up from the ground while holding my hair. I cried in pain, telling him to let go of me when he whispered.
“Yell his name.”
I shook my head but he took out something from his slacks, and pointed it at the sky. He pulled the trigger, and a blaring noise blasted at the atmosphere. It vibrated the trees, and shook the ground which also made me covered my ears from the noise. I cursed under my breath, multiple times when Auger pushed my shoulder, and kicked me to lie on the ground. I looked up, and saw the gun was aiming at me.
“Yell, or die. You have two options.
I snickered then thrust myself to stand up, even though my knees are frail. I leaned my arm against the tree while wearing a proud smile. No hint of emotion can be seen in Auger’s eyes while I was limping right in front of him. I saw that his minions were already gone, making their move to search for my husband.
“I would rather die here than let you use me as your bait to get my husband.” I said darkly then hovered over him to attack but he was quick. He rolled me above his shoulders then slammed my body on the ground with forced. I choke out a blood, while looking at the bright blue sky. My vision started to spin when he spoke.
“You are piteous, Natasha. I guess I have no other choice but to kill you here…”
