Chapter 38: Chapter 38

Miguel drove back into the hospital premise, he hurriedly walked into the hospital, he has to start with the transfer immediately, he has a hunch that Lucio Camilla’s ex-husband has something to do with this, and even though he was not sure about whether Lucio was responsible or not, he felt he should act fast and discreetly too, so he made sure not to report the accident to the police as he was once told by Camilla that Lucio also have some influence in the police force.

They finished documentation and preparation for the transfer, that's when Miguel asked the doctor to keep her being admitted to the hospital a secret, he said it is for the safety of the patient and the doctor agreed and Miguel after Miguel briefed him a little about who Camilla was and his suspicion about her ex-husband who was well known by the doctor.

“Thanks a lot Doctor,” Miguel told the doctor, feeling thankful that he met a doctor who was not attached to Lucio.

“Go on take it easy on her,” Miguel said to one of the medical personnel who were helping to wheel Camilla out of the hospital when he thought that she was not being gentle enough with Camilla who was lying still almost lifeless on the stretcher.

“I am sorry, sir,” the nurse said immediately, lowering her head a little even though she knew that she was handling Camilla with care on her end of the stretcher. She apologized immediately knowing that Miguel was going through a tough time seeing his loved one like this, and they used to get that a lot. She was the nurse who had felt pity for him and had allowed him to see Camilla from a distance, through a window to try and make him calm down a bit and had seen how hurt he was after seeing Camilla.

Miguel just turned his gaze away from the nurse who just apologized to him, tears building up in his eyes again, he felt that he was losing it after he scolded the nurse for something that was uncalled for, how did he let this happen to Camilla? He said inwardly peering at Camilla as they wheeled her out of the hospital, blaming himself for her condition.

Immediately Camilla was being wheeled out of the hospital on a stretcher followed by Miguel from the exit door, Rodrigo entered into the hospital from the other door used by those who are going into the hospital, they missed each other at the entrance to the hospital.

Camilla was already being transported when Rodrigo reached the front desk to make inquiry about her. Unfortunately for him the nurse in charge has no information about her as her file has already been removed from their list of patients by the doctor whom Miguel had spoken to earlier.

“Sorry sir, but there is no Camilla registered here.” The nurse had said to Rodrigo who nodded and left the hospital almost immediately.

Rodrigo has searched for her in the mortuary around the area, now this is the third and last hospital around the area he had asked and yet no Camilla.

“Where the hell are you?” Rodrigo asked himself kicking his car wheel in frustration. “How could she vanish into thin air?” He asked inwardly, still wondering where she could be and where had not looked.

He had also used some of his contact in the police to know if they have any news about her but he got nothing. “What am l going to tell Lucio.” He thought and drove out of the hospital again, wondering what was going to tell Lucio now, Lucio had already just experienced a huge loss as Antonio died and now it was Camilla, Rodrigo thought, lifting his hand unconsciously at intervals to rob his forehead that was sweaty even with the car air conditioner on.

Lora ran into her room, slammed the door and creamed out in frustration. What her Papa said earlier infuriated her that she felt like her inside was about to burst.

“What, send me out of the country? She’s asking about her Mama and all he could think of is sending her out of the country to have fun.” She thought and screamed out loudly again, shaking her head frantically too, her hands in her hair.

“Is she some kind of shipment?” she thought again her chest swelling in rage.

She reached for her cell phone on the table beside her bed. “Mama… I need to talk to Mama.” She said and dialed her mother's phone number.

Her number can’t be reached, Lora muttered. “No, no...” she muttered again, shaking her head as she did and dialed the number again, still can't be reached, it says.

She threw the phone on the bed in frustration, why is her mother's number not reachable, she really needs to talk to her, she has so many questions she would like to ask her, why is she not always available when she needs her the most, she asked inwardly again, not being able to control her emotions, tears flowing freely from her eyes, and her nose running a little too from all the tears that she had cried.

She leaned her back unconsciously against the wall in her bedroom, thinking of what to do and that's when she remembered her grandmother, “Yes Grandma Rosa.” maybe she is going to help her, she thought then immediately went out of her room again in search of her grandma, she does not want her dad to send her to another country as she knew deep down that he has the power to do so
