Chapter 37: Chapter 37
Lucio looked stunned to see the way his daughter walked out on him, he had never imagined a day like this would come, given the way Lora had been all her life up until this day but he would not blame her though, who would not turn out the way she did after witnessing how he and Camilla had brawled at each other. He knew that he has wronged her by denying her the love of a mother and just because he wanted to punish her mum, Camilla.
“I am sorry princess,” Lucio muttered, still peering at the door, “but it is too late to be with your Mama, she had wanted that too.” He said inwardly, tightening his jaw muscles as he peered into space this time, hoping that he was not too late in asking Rodrigo to go back for Camilla as he had ordered him to do this morning, he wished he had thought of it sooner. He turned around and went back to his chair, sat down heavily on the chair and started to puff his cigarette again. It would have been nice if Camilla still stayed with him, he thought.
He had his vices but Camilla chickened out and gave up on him, not even their child Lora could hold her back and he hated her for that, so the best punishment he could think of was keeping her daughter away from her because he knew how much their daughter meant to her.
He didn't need to stop Lora this time, because he knew she would definitely come back to him, especially after she found out about her mum’s accident, Lucio thought. His cell phone rang bringing him out from his thoughts. “Yes Rodrigo.” He said as he picked up his cell phone and placed it against his ears.
“Boss, the car isn't here anymore, I think someone found and moved it already.” Rodrigo told Lucio over the phone, sounding a little husky as he was confused himself because of how Camilla’s car was moved so quickly.
“What… what do you mean by that, the car is no longer there?” Lucio asked anxiously, sitting up on the chair he was seated on, his pupils enlarged but at nothing in particular.
“Yes boss, everything has been cleared off and it looked like it was done not long ago.” Rodrigo replied.
“You said you saw her before leaving the accident scene?” Lucio asked, standing up from his chair this time, sweeping the hand he had his phone on across his hair before placing it against his ear again and then started pacing up and down around his table.
“Yes boss, there's no way she could survive such an accident”. Rodrigo replied in a husky tone after a while, glancing around him, thinking that it was strange for this place to be cleared this fast, he had expected it to be done in the morning.
“Search for her in the mortuary around the area and hospitals as well, just to be sure, you need to find her Rodrigo.” Lucio told Rodrigo after a short silence, finding it strange too.
“Yes boss.” Rodrigo replied and then hung up.
Lucio dropped his cell phone on the table, made a frantic movement then turned back towards the table, he punched the table with his fist and groaned from the pain he felt in his hand as a result of the punch but quickly he ignored the pain in his hand as his thought went back to Camilla, deep down he wanted her to be alive, that’s why he had sent Rodrigo back there again to see if it’s not too late to help her. “What have I done?” He said cursing out loud as he recalled Lora who was just here a while ago demanding to see her mum, Camilla.
Camilla had been the only woman he had truly loved, in fact he owned her not until she decided to leave him, maybe he hated her as much as he had loved her, he had given her all she wanted but for her it wasn't enough, she wanted to be independent, he couldn't bear that and that had been the root of how their troubles started.
He wanted to be in control of his woman, his family but she doesn't want that, he had let her go thinking she would come back begging for him to take her back especially after denying her access to their daughter but he was mistaken.
When she left, she had discovered who her biological parents were and that she is an only heir to the wealth of a man named Leonardo Gonzalo.
He didn’t know the details but what he heard was that her late parents before they died hid her in an orphanage in other to save her from their enemies, leaving all their wealth to her as she is their only child and heir, years later their trusted family lawyer Alejandro Ramos, who was handling things in her stead came to fetch her from the orphanage and discovered she was gone, probably she got reunited with him when she divorced him and went back to the orphanage. Lucio thought.
Maybe that's why he hated her so much because she is wealthier than he is, and has made a name for herself without him by her side but this hate, oh this hate isn't enough to kill her, deep down he wanted her back but his pride gets in the way...
Lora, Lora his princess is the one suffering more from all of this, he couldn't give her the love and affection she rightly deserves because she reminds him a lot of her mother.
He bit his lower lip and groaned again, this time not from the pain he feels on his hand but from the ache he feels in his heart, if only he could turn back time, he would and if only he knew that the news of her death would make this mad then, he would have ended this fight with her and sort for a way to make peace with her instead and she would still be alive now as he knew that he was responsible for her death.
