Chapter 79: Chapter 79
Alpha Jax slowly opened his eyes. He wondered if he was dead but then again, he felt the presence of his mate around him.
Above all, there was this energy rushing through his veins…like a new life. He was supposed to be dead. That woman stabbed him with a dagger smeared with trinitaria poison. He was supposed to be dead because the poison had no cure.
His eyes scanned the room he was in. White ceiling with walls painted white. He tried to get up and surprisingly his body felt light and...strong, like a supernatural blood flowing in his vein. Then he heard his Beta's voice or rather, whisper.
"You did it Aurora!"
His eyes shot towards the direction of the voice. He was indeed alive. And it seems Aurora a is she? She got the cure? But how? He remembered Adrene saying there was no cure and it was true because no werewolf had been able to survive the trinitaria poison for centuries now.
He knew about it because his father died from it. His team of scientist had tried all they could but they couldn't come up with an antidote.
Alpha Jax remembered Aurora's father was a renowned laboratory professor who tried to find the antidote to poisons. So, did he leave the antidote with her? But, even Aurora's father had been unable to produce the antidote. Did Aurora really saved him? How
"Aurora?", Alpha Jax said but his voice was a little croaky. He needed water.
Beta Rufus, looked up at Alpha Jax with a relieved smile. He quickly handed him a can of water. He was looking happy to see Jax alive again but he was feeling anxious because of Aurora. He knew Aurora was going to break down due to over exhaustion. That was why he had tried to make her rest but she was just too stubborn.
Beta Rufus knew Jax wasn't going to take it lightly with him if anything happens to Aurora. He had specifically told him to care for Aurora should anything happen to him. Her being unconscious is already trouble. He braced himself for the worse.
Before he could say anything to Jax, the alpha was already at Aurora's bed, looking at her in pain. It seems Alpha Jax felt he was the reason Aurora was lying unconscious.
"Aurora…what happened to her?", Alpha Jax asked, looking dreadful.
"Alpha, you need to rest. You just went through an arduous situation", Doctor Fuller advised.
"I asked a question and I expect a reply. What the fuck happened to my mate and child?!", Alpha Jax roared in anger.
The doctors all shivered at his voice. They were very surprised at his speedy recovery, no, not speedy but miraculous recovery. He was supposed to still be lying weak even if he was an Alpha!
"She…she..she…", Doctor Fuller was so shaken that he could not utter anything.
"Alpha, she fell unconscious due to exhaustion", Beta Rufus said. He knew he was in trouble already.
"Say it again!", Alpha Jax said as his eyes were turning red in anger.
"Alpha…she just won't listen to anyone. She was adamant on saving your life", Beta Rufus continued under Jax's angered eyes.
"Adamant? I put you in charge of her…your life for hers!", He bellowed as everyone in the ward went down on their knees due to his intense anger.
"Alpha…", Beta Rufus tried to explain.
"You are my beta! You are supposed to safeguard my family!", Alpha Jax continued, anger boiling through his veins. What on earth did she do to save him that she got so exhausted.
"She refused…she refused to listen to me or anyone…", Beta Rufus continued.
Alpha Jax couldn't be bothered with Beta's explanations as he immediately sat on the bed holding Aurora's delicate hands.
"I am here now, sweetheart. Please wake up", Alpha Jax whispered in between silent sobs.
"Alpha, she would be fine. I have already administered injections to calm her anxious nerves. But the only problem is the fetus. It had suffered lots of stress these past days. If we are not careful, she might lose the baby", Doctor Fuller said worriedly.
"Do I fucking look like I care about a fetus? Save my mate! That's my order!", Alpha Jax said without taking his eyes off Aurora.
Alpha Jax noticed that she had lost a lot of weights and she looked really pale. She must have suffered so much to save him.
What on earth did she do to save him? He couldn't help but wonder.
It's not that Alpha Jax doesn't care about the pregnancy, it's just that he was more afraid of losing Aurora. They can always have children or simply adopt. He doesn't give a damn.
All he wanted was his mate. He can't have another mate if he loses Aurora. He loves the unborn child but he loves Aurora more.
"Alpha, we…", Doctor Fuller wanted to convince him but he received a glare from Beta Rufus.
"Doctor Fuller, how long will it take for Miss Aurora to regain consciousness?," Beta Rufus asked, cutting off the doctor.
"Well, she would have regained her consciousness soon but we have to take the..I mean..the fetus into consideration. Right now, the fetus needs lots of rest and stress free mental state.
In order to achieve that, Aurora needs to be sedated for at least twenty four hours'', he explained.
Doctor Fuller paused before adding," It would allow the fetus to survive. It's already a miracle that she hasn't lost the baby…yet…maybe due to the werewolf blood. If she were human, she would have lost the baby already."
"Will the sedative have an effect on her?", Alpha Jax asked looking gloomy.
"No, it won't but it's….", Doctor Fuller responded.
"That's all I want to hear", Alpha Jax said
"Alpha, we promise to do our best but…"
"Do whatever you think is right but remember I don't want any risk to her life. Save her. If anything happens to her. You are all dead. Know this… don't put her at risk", Alpha Jax said without looking at anyone but his mate.
"We will do our best but…", Doctor Fuller wanted to protest but he just shut his mouth instead.
They are certainly not gods. Doctors can't determine someone's life. He wondered what was wrong with this couple.
One was as fierce as a lioness while the other expected them to do the impossible. He was really fed up with them all. He sighed as he looked at the recently awakened Alpha.
Doctor Fuller was suspicious of this antidote. Alpha Jax was still supposed to be lying weak even if he survived the poison.
Why did Miss Aurora insist on being alone with the Alpha to apply the dosages? It was a pity he couldn't probe further. He could get killed. He had certainly learnt his lesson from Aurora. The thought alone sent shivers down his spine.
But what exactly were they hiding. He doesn't believe there wasn't anything else, if not, why didn't they allow anyone else in during the process and only allowed them after the process.
Something isn't right and he plans to find out on his own.
Beta Rufus knew the alpha needs time alone with his mate, so he signaled the doctors to wrap up and leave. He then turned to Alpha Jax.
"I will be going to get you something to eat and also handle some official matters", Beta Rufus said.
Then he added," We have a traitor amongst us that joined hands with that woman, Adrene."
"A traitor? In my pack?", Alpha Jax said raising his brow.
"Yes…and it's someone you know and no one could guess," Beta Rufus said.
"Gamma Enrique..", Alpha Jax said calmly.
" Huh? You have been suspecting him, right? Was that why you excluded him from many confidential information?", Beta Rufus said with a smile.
"Yes. I had been suspecting him after he told me he came back alive from the Triad Circle. I know Alpha. It's an impossible task to escape. I would have believed him if he wasn't caught", Alpha Jax explained.
"Why didn't you tell me, then? I would have been more conscious of him", Beta Rufus said.
"Yeah and he would have known I have been suspicious of him", Alpha Jax eyed his Beta.
"That's not fair, Jax", Beta Rufus countered which earned him a glare from Alpha Jax.
"I want you to thoroughly investigate him. Don't kill him.. yet. I want to know why", Alpha Jax said.
"Yes, Alpha and I would do that after delivering your food. And please don't say no because Aurora wouldn't want to wake up to a dying Alpha she saved with all her might. Her sacrifice would have been in vain," Beta Rufus said.
"You can leave now. You can't just help being too noisy and naggy now that you have gotten a mate, right?," Alpha Jax said in irritation.
"Well, I am just telling the truth…", Beta Rufus shrugged.
"Yes, you are. Now can I have peace? You can get out now," Alpha Jax said glaring at his Beta.
"Yeah, you can have peace and…lots of privacy", Beta Rufus grinned before quickly leaving the ward to avoid Alpha Jax's deadly glare.
Beta Rufus chuckled as he left the room. He knew that feeling of wanting to be alone with the person you are in love with.
It has happened to him and Celine. They seem not to have privacy in the house. His family was always around everywhere.
He was just lucky yesterday as he was able to achieve his goal after trying to win her over.
He blushed at the thought of their intimate moment together yesterday morning. He hadn't seen her for more than twenty four hours now. He only called her when he couldn't get back yesterday.
Beta Rufus closed the door behind him gently. He placed two guards at the door door so that they can protect the alpha and also prevent unnecessary Intruders.
He hopes Aurora wakes up soon or else he is definitely going to lose his head.
****************
Alpha Jax kept looking at the pale faced Aurora lying peacefully on the bed. He knew she had wanted to hurt him but why did she save him instead? He thought he was going to die with the anger he had for Aurora because of her distrust.
It was etched in his memory but strangely on his dying moment, he really wanted to see Aurora one last time. Her face when she said how much she hated him kept flashing into his memory but he couldn't help the love he felt for her.
Aurora Patterson. His mate.
Anyone could call him mad for loving the woman that was eager to murder him but his heart only beat for her.
He knew she was right for wanting revenge and he shouldn't blame her for wanting vengeance for her father but it was also right for her to find out what really happened from him.
That was why he was angry. She had never trusted him. It makes him wonder if she even loved him.
Anyways, he doesn't care anymore as he was ready to love her all his life even if she doesn't love him back.
He knew the mate bond might keep them together. But then, if she doesn't love him why would she save him at the detriment of her health? Could it be….?
Alpha Jax bent down to plant a kiss on those luscious lips of hers. He was dying to kiss them. But he kept wondering why she saved him.
Aurora's mother.
Did her mother explain to her? Did she find out about her father's crime? It could only be her mother who would explain to her. He wondered how she would have felt. He should have been there to console her but he rather left in rage.
Somehow though, he felt pity for her. He understood Aurora's mother. She was selfish because she had no choice. But, he was angered though. Aurora hated him because of that same reason.
Alpha Jax knew Aurora must have been so heartbroken when discovered the real reason her father died.
He could only think of that as a reason why she must have saved his life. The little he knew of his mate was that she was an extremely stubborn woman and once she makes her mind on something, it's hard to convince her otherwise.
The only thing that could make her change her decision was knowing the truth.
"Sweetheart, I will be here waiting. I will never leave again no matter how angry I am. We will trash it out together", Alpha Jax whispered as he took her hands and kissed it.
Alpha Jax continued talking to Aurora in her unconscious state while he kissed her from time to time.
"Darling, did you remember when we first met? You were so jealous of Jasmine and I was madly jealous of Mason holding your hands…even if he is your cousin", Alpha Jax reminisced with her.
"I remembered how you looked with that sexy red dress and ponytail hair. You looked like a goddess and I couldn't get my eyes off you. Ares couldn't stop howling in my head either", Alpha Jax chuckled.
"I remembered what you usually call me. It's still fresh in my head but with a touch of love, darling. I am missing you already"
He looked at Aurora with eyes filled with love. Then he said," But I can never forget that face that night…Aurora, you are my soulmate. I love you so much".
Alpha Jax couldn't hold back his emotions as he silently cried in his heart. He really wished she was lying unconscious.
His eyes drifted to her stomach. It was already showing a bump. He needs to get married to her before the baby would be born or else it would be illegitimate.
Alpha Jax made a mental note to prepare for their marriage once Aurora wakes up. He knew his uncle would be so happy to finally be having a daughter in-law.
"Let's get married, Aurora. I can't wait to make you my wife and…Luna of the Blood Moon Pack", Alpha Jax proposed to the unconscious Aurora.
He really can't wait anymore….
******************
"Handsome Uncle, do you want to marry Sister Rora?", An amiable voice asked jolting Jax from his thought.
Alpha Jax turned to see the owner of the voice. He was surprised to see a girl around the age of eight or nine. On a closer look, he realized she was Aurora's sister, Maya
"Maya, what are you doing here? Who brought you here?", Alpha Jax asked, drawing her closer to himself.
"Handsome Uncle, you don't remember?", Maya asked him
"Remember? Remember what?", Alpha Jax asked, confused.
"Handsome Uncle, my Sister Rora and myself saved your life", Maya replied smugly with a childish smile.
