Chapter 77: Chapter 77

Aurora never knew it would come in handy someday but she had to go to her mother for permission. She needed her mother and sister's approval. She had no time to waste. Alpha Jax survival depends on Maya.

"Thank you Father. Even if you did a lot of evil things but at least your experiment would save Jax", Aurora whispered softly.

She turned to Beta Rufus," I need to go and see my mother. It's urgent".

"Okay, let's go. We can just go in our wolf form to make it faster", Beta Rufus suggested.

"That would be great but we need to gather the things I need to prepare the antidote along this bushy path. I think we should rather walk.

I will start listing them so we can search for them and we can also send some of the guards too. Rufus, I am very grateful. Thank you", Aurora said.

"You don't need to thank me. Jax is like the brother I never had. It hurts me to see him like this", Beta Rufus said.

"I wonder how that woman knew Jax would be there. It can't be a coincidence", Aurora said as they started walking along the bushes.

"Indeed, it wasn't a coincidence. We had a traitor all these years", Beta Rufus said as his face became gloomy with the thought of Enrique.

"A traitor? Who can that be?", Aurora asked, creasing her brows. Did Jax have traitors?

"Gamma Enrique. I wonder what happened that made him betray us", Beta Rufus said.

"There should never be an excuse for betrayal. Just like my father, I won't be on his side no matter his excuse", Aurora said.

"Yeah. Exactly what I told him. But I wish he had confided in us. Enrique is not the greedy type so I am sure he didn't do it for the sake of money", Beta Rufus observed.

"Could it be that he was threatened with his life? There is nothing Adrene won't do for revenge", Aurora said. She remembered how that woman poisoned her mind against Jax. That was what led to all this chaos.

"Maybe…. I just never expected this outcome for us", Beta Rufus said as he stared into space. He never thought that someday the relationship between them would turn out this way.

They had walked some distance already and Aurora had collected nearly all the things needed. The ones she couldn't find, she sent the troops to look for it.

They drew closer to her house. She prayed silently that her mother would agree to her request. It involves Maya. Would her mother agree?

She needs it to save Jax. She can't allow anything to happen to him. If he dies then she isn't sure she was going to live without him.

Aurora's mother, Sarah, saw her daughter's anxious and sad look. She was stunned to see Aurora in the house. Wasn't she supposed to be looking for Alpha Jax? Did something happen to the Alpha?

She immediately dropped the watering can in her hands as she walked quickly to her daughter.

"Rora, what is the matter? Are you okay? Why is Jax not with you? Didn't you find him?", Sarah asked as she immediately led Aurora and Beta Rufus inside.

Aurora couldn't hold back her tears when she saw her mother. She let out all her pent up emotions as she sobbed uncontrollably in her mother's arms.

"Rora, you are scaring me darling. Please talk to me. What happened to Jax?`` Sarah couldn't help but feel anxious too.

"Mother, I…I caused him to get hurt badly. He is hurt because of me, mother!", Aurora continued to wail loudly.

"Tell me what happened, sweetie", Sarah tried to console Aurora.

Beta Rufus who was watching the broken Aurora had to speak up. Time was not on their side.

"Mrs Patterson, Alpha Jax was in a critical condition when we met him? Right now, he is unconscious and lying in a coma", Beta Rufus said as tried to quieten down.

"In a coma? How is that possible? Tell me what really happened!", Sarah clenched her fist tightly as she waited for their explanation.

Beta Rufus briefly explained what happened to Sarah as she listened intently but her expression darkened when Adrene's name was mentioned.

"That bitch! She is sick!", Sarah spat out in anger.

"Mother, do you know her?"Aurora, who had stopped crying, asked her mother.

"Let's not talk about that bitch. Just know that she is sick and never believe in anything she says to you", Sarah said in disgust.

Aurora looked at her mother's countenance. Could what Adrene told her about her father true? But then get mother told her not to believe Adrene's word.

"So tell me, Aurora. Isn't there a cure to the poison?", Sarah asked her daughter worriedly.

Aurora sighed as she looked at the time. She was still waiting for those guards to return with the remaining things needed. She stood up from the couch and went straight to her study room which she had wanted to use as her laboratory.

But unfortunately or rather fortunately, Jax had to kidnap her a few days before moving here. The serum is supposed to be in her study room. After searching for about five minutes, she saw it among her father's packed experimental tubes. She grabbed it and went downstairs.

Aurora gave Beta Rufus the serum in a well packaged box. This was the last of the serum. It will take three days to make a new one.

"Take this and give it to Doctor Fuller or his assistant. They know what to do with it. I need to speak to my mother and…please tell them to get the lab prepared", Aurora said looking worried.

"I will Aurora and please take care of your health. The alpha would have my head if anything happens to you or his baby. Please, help a brother, alright?", Beta Rufus said as he forced a smile.

"I will be careful. My baby needs both parents…and most importantly, be careful with the serum. It's the last and if anything happens to it, it would take three days to prepare. And time is not what we have", Aurora said looking at the box.

"Trust me, Aurora. It will get safely to him", Beta Rufus said as he bowed before taking his leave.

Aurora heaved a deep breath. Now that the serum would be delivered to Jax, she needs to get all the things required for the antidote. She needs the vital ingredient in particular.

And it had to do with Maya. Will her mother agree? She knows how protecting her mother is towards Maya.

What she needs isn't something harmful but still she needs their permission.

Aurora turned to look at her mother who was looking at her curiously.

"Aurora, what is it?", Sarah asked her daughter.

"Mother I need something from Maya but I need your permission for that", Aurora said as she held her breath.

This is it.

********************

"Aurora, how sure are you that it would work? If your father never tested it, didn't you think something might be wrong?", Sarah asked her daughter.

Aurora had explained to her mother what she needed from her sister. She needed a drop of a pure mixed breed of werewolf origin.

The reason her father's antidote for the trinitaria poison could work on humans but not werewolves was because it was lacking a vital ingredient. The blood of a pure mix breed.

Aurora saw the scribbled words in her father's diary after his death. Most times she had asked her father about the antidote but he always brush it off.

But then she found out the reason after his death. The vital ingredient was his precious daughters. For more than two centuries werewolves lived amongst humans but hardly mated with them.

But that changed when an Alpha had a human as mate three centuries ago. The Alpha was so furious that he killed his mate. The moon goddess placed a curse on the werewolves for a century.

Every werewolf nearing the acceptance age was killed by the trinitaria poison in one way or the other. They consulted the moon goddess who told them the solution and the only way to cure it was the blood of a human mate.

But sadly, there were no more human mate. They performed so many sacrifices to appease the moon goddess for a human mate who can break the curse.

After another century, a werewolf had a human mate who broke the curse but sadly, the werewolves are forever weak to the poison of the trinitaria. It became a target for killing themselves in the world of werewolves.

A renowned scientist and witch doctor over five hundred decades predicted the mixture of the blood of Pure mixed breed werewolves as an antidote to the poison but it couldn't be tried as werewolves no longer had humans as mates after that mate that broke the curse.

Aurora's father found out the secret but he was reluctant to try it because unfortunately, his daughters were the pure mixed breed. He knew if he leaked out the secret, many scientists would suck out his daughter's blood to produce antidotes.

It was too huge a risk so he hid the knowledge away from his colleagues. Even from his own daughter. That's why the renowned scientist, Robert Patterson, refused to share this secret… he wanted to protect his children.

When Aurora found the scribbled words after his death, she couldn't help but tear up. That's why she vowed to make her father's killers pay with their lives.

Even now that she found out his crimes, she respected her father's love for his children. Anyone could call him selfish or heartless but she was grateful.

Aurora would have used her blood but her blood was already tainted with the child in her womb. She had no choice but to seek her mother's permission for Maya's blood.

Maya was the only pure mixed breed werewolf. Her blood is the ingredient she needed to save Jax.

But there was one clause that was making her worried. Maya would need to have her blood mix with Jax's own.

Maya would be injected with the already prepared antidote which she would need to transfer directly to Jax through infusion. Their blood would have to be mixed.

That was the risk. What if it didn't work and the poison was transferred to Maya too?

Aurora would never forgive herself, ever.

"How sure are you, Aurora? What if Maya is infected with it?", Sarah asked again.

"Mother…I…", Aurora didn't know what to say. It was true. What if she hurt Maya instead?

"I refuse…Aurora I can't lose either of you. There must be another solution. Why don't we ask Adrene?", Aurora's mother said desperately. She can't lose any of her children.

Aurora couldn't say anything. She knew there was no solution again. Her mother was right. She can't be selfish. What if something happens to her little sister?

But still, Aurora can't take the fact that she was going to lose Jax forever. Tears began streaming down her cheeks.

She got up from the couch and made to leave. But as she got close to the door, she heard her sister's voice from behind her.

"Sister Rora, I am ready to save my handsome uncle. Don't cry please", Maya said.

Aurora turned to see Maya's big beautiful eyes staring at her with the cutest smile ever.

"Did you forget, Sister Rora. I am a super girl and super girls don't die", Maya said again smiling broadly.

"Maya, I won't allow it…you won't go anywhere", Sarah said weakly, rushing to grab her daughter.

"If I don't go, Handsome uncle will die and sister Rora and the babies will be sad forever. Momma, I want to go please", Maya pleaded.

Aurora couldn't take it anymore as she ran out of the house crying.

She was broken between her sister and lover.

Moon goddess, I need your help

Aurora's mother broke down in tears as she saw her elder daughter running away in sorrow. She really had no choice. She can't afford to lose her daughter after their father died.

But she can't help thinking of the pregnant Aurora who was so miserable. Sarah wondered why her life would be filled with so much drama and sorrow.

She really wished she could agree but she just can't. Even though Jax was the father of her unborn grandchildren and her elder daughter's mate, Maya was also her daughter. She can't put her at risk.

She would rather be selfish again. Aurora would find happiness again even if Jax no longer lives.

"Mother, Sister Rora would die if handsome brother dies and if sister Rora dies, I will also die too", Maya suddenly said to her mother.

She was facing her mother looking strict like an adult cautioning a child. Sarah lifted her eyes to look at this daughter of hers closely again.

If there was anything Sarah dreaded the most are the words of this daughter of hers. She talks like someone who was possessed by another body.

She knew Maya might be the last of the Seers but she rather not believe it. But so far all indications point towards it. If the Sect of Seer sees her, she would be taken from her.

Yes, Sarah was a selfish human but she has no choice. She can't seem to let go off her children. She was most afraid of losing them.

"But I would not die if I save Handsome Uncle", Maya continued.

"Stop talking rubbish, Maya. You and your sister would not die", Sarah said to her daughter as she rushed to embrace her tightly.

"Mother, I am not talking rubbish. See, that white sister just told me. She has a moon as a crown. She was the one that told me father was going to leave and she also told me Sister Rora has two babies. Mother, see her. I am not lying", Maya said pointing at an imaginary spot.

"Maya, stop it. There is no woman there. Don't scare me", Sarah said looking around her.

"See, I told you Mother would be scared but I really have to save my handsome uncle before it's too late, mother", Maya said tugging at her mother's clothes.

Sarah knew her daughter was telling the truth. She had long known her daughter's gift but she kept denying it. She took a deep breath and turned Maya to face her.

"We will go, Maya but you have to promise mother to come back", Sarah said sobbing

"Don't worry mother, it's not yet time for me to go but if we waste more time, my handsome uncle might die", Maya urged her mother.

"No. You have to promise me, Maya", Sarah insisted

"Okay, mother. I promise you", Maya said, twisting her pinky finger with her mother's.
