Chapter 76: Chapter 76

Jax was hurting badly at his mate's betrayal. He wondered if she would have believed him even if he explained. Didn't Aurora love him at all?

"Aurora…you are my nemesis, right? The moon goddess just wants to punish me for all my ruthlessness. What's worse than knowing your mate is ready to kill you?", Alpha Jax murmured to himself.

He lay on the grass, broken and torn.

As Jax was mourning, a shadow snuck closer to him and thrust his ribs with a dagger. Jax whose eyes were closed immediately sensed the danger and dodged the fatal hit but he wasn't quick enough as the dagger grazed his hips.

He turned around to see a gorgeous woman who had the most beautiful body he had ever seen. He wondered where he had met this woman. Without thinking twice, Alpha Jax kicked the dagger from the woman and gave her a slap.

Adrene fell down with blood spurting from her mouth but instead of looking hurt. She started laughing like a maniac. Her eyes were bloodshot with an unknown viciousness. She struggled to stand up as the force of the slap was making her dizzy.

"Haaa! I told you Jack! I will destroy your family! I told you I will kill your son just as you killed mine! See.. I have finally succeeded. My patience has finally paid off," Adrene said as she continued laughing hysterically.

Alpha Jax who was looking at the woman began to grow weak. His heart was boiling. His body was on fire. He couldn't think straight as he fell down with pains.

"You would have died instantly if you hadn't dodged it. But, you are still going to die anyway. Once the poison occupies your heart, you will die in an hour or two. Don't blame me, blame your father!," Adrene said.

"You killed my father and mother, right? With this same poison, you killed them," Alpha Jax asked.

"You are wrong. I wish I had killed them but I didn't. True, they were killed by the same poison but by different people. Your father has lots of enemies, you know," Adrene said with a smirk.

"What did my father do to you?," Alpha Jax asked as he tried to hold back his pain.

"Jack killed my son Timothy! He destroyed our lives!", Adrene shouted in anger.

"Timothy?...are you…Adrene?," Alpha Jax asked, trying to hold on as his body was becoming weaker. He was trying to delay the woman before reinforcement would come so they could capture her.

"I see your father has already told you about me. I guess he must have told you also that we were lovers and your bitch of a mother came between us", Adrene spat out.

"Shut…the…fuck…up! You have no right to judge my mother! You were the freaking bitch", Alpha Jax retorted.

Adrene was so angry that she moved closer to Jax and punched his face. Jax, who was becoming weaker, couldn't dodge her as he fell down again from the punch.

"I wasn't the bitch! Your fucking mother was! I hate your family! I will fucking kill you….kill your fucking mate and that bastard in her womb!," Adrene screamed in anger as she started kicking Jax.

Alpha Jax didn't struggle with her as he heard a faint voice trying to gain access to him. Was that Aurora's voice?

Jax….I am sorry. Where are you? You have to stay alive for us, please. Where are you? I need you…our baby needs you!

That was definitely Aurora's voice. He missed her so much!

"My love…I would never leave you or our child alone"

"Where are you, Jax? You are hurting…tell me where you are…I will never leave you…"

"Close…to…the …mushroom…field. Don't come alone"

"Hang on, don't die…wait for us… I love you Jax"

"I love you too, sweetheart…"

Alpha Jax couldn't take it anymore as he was slipping into unconsciousness. He just hopes Aurora comes with his men. He had already sent an SOS to his troops. They will be here soon.

Just before he closed his eyes, he heard the voice he wanted to hear…the voice he had been angry at but had given him happiness.

His mate… his Aurora.

"Jax!!!"

And he went blank.

Aurora had been trying to gain access to Jax for the past five minutes but it seems something was blocking it.

"Ahhhh! Talk to me Jax!," Aurora screamed in desperation.

She wished she hadn't been stubborn. She wished she had listened to her mother and trashed this issue with Jax after she saw the file in the study. She wished she hadn't told him she hated him. She wished she hadn't said those hurtful words to him.

Aurora knew he must be hurting badly.

"My love…I would never leave you or our child alone"

Aurora jolted from her thoughts as she heard Jax's voice in her head.

"Jax! Jax just answered me, Rufus!", She cried out.

"Aurora, take a hold of yourself and be calm. Answer him in your head before you lose communication", Beta Rufus advised.

"Where are you, Jax? You are hurting…tell me where you are…I will never leave you…"

Close…to…the …mushroom…field. Don't come alone"

"Hang on, don't die…wait for us… I love you Jax"

"I love you too, sweetheart…"

"Jax! Jax! Talk to me! I am losing him, Rufus!.. Jax!", Aurora shouted between sobs.

"Aurora, take it easy on yourself. He will be rescued. I just received an SOS from him now. The troops are headed towards the Mushroom Field direction", Rufus tried to calm her down.

Rufus had just received a message as Aurora was talking to Jax. It was an SOS used by the Alpha and his special forces in dire situations. The message carries the exact location of where it's been sent.

Since it's close, he was sure the troops would get there soon. He was sure nothing would happen to Alpha Jax. All Rufus needs to do is to ensure the safety of Aurora and their future heir.

"Yes! Yes…that's where he told me too…is it far?", Aurora asked.

"No, it's not. It's just a five minutes walk from here but if we change to our wolf it will take less than two minutes", Beta Rufus said.

"What are we waiting for?", Aurora snapped as she quickly changed and followed Beta Rufus and the secret guards

As they got closer to the field, they heard the laughter of a woman who was kicking a weak Jax on the ground. It seems Jax had fainted. He looked very weak…and was bleeding, profusely.

"Jax!!", Aurora shouted as she rammed into the woman who was caught off guard.

Adrene staggered towards a huge tree with her back hitting it. She fell down spurting another round of blood. She looked up to see Alpha Jax's mate, Aurora staring at her in her wolf form.

Adrene had no time to think as she also changed into her wolf. Unfortunately, Adrene's wolf was a lot smaller than Aurora even though she had a piercing glare.

"So this was your plan all along, bitch", Aurora said, staring at Adrene's smaller Wolf.

"I only gave you what you crave for…you wanted to kill him, afterall", Adrene retorted.

"How did you get my family's pendant?," Aurora asked.

"Let's just say, I did some nasty business with your precious father…in bed. He gave me as a gift", Adrene's wolf sneered.

"You fucking liar…my father would never cheat on my mother!," Aurora snapped as she lunged towards Adrene.

"Yeah right, just as you trusted your father to be a saint", Adrene said as she also lunged towards Aurora.

There was a fierce battle between the two wolves but of course Aurora's wolf was bigger and stronger and before long, Adrene was laying on the ground battered and torn. Though she was still alive.

"Aurora, please stop. We need to get Jax to the hospital", Rufus' voice rang out.

Aurora stopped in her tracks as she quickly changed back into her human form.

The troops were already here and were trying to revive Jax. She stopped fighting Adrene as she quickly rushed over to where Jax was being treated.

She was immediately covered with a blanket as the emergency doctors wanted to lift Jax into the truck the special troops came with.

"He won't survive it. He is going to die…no one survives the poison of the trinitaria. He would surely die!", Adrene said as she forced herself to laugh.

"What??", Rufus and the doctors around were stunned.

"Yes, your Alpha is going to die! And even if I die, I will be satisfied because I have killed Jack's son too!", Adrene said as she spat out a mouthful of blood.

"You are a pathetic sick woman! You will be the one to die…I won't let Jax die…you will live to see him alive. He will punish you himself", Aurora said as she stared at Adrene's pitiful condition.

"Little girl, this is not the case of love. You can't save him by loving him. He will die!", Adrene said with a cruel laugh. She was fulfilled. Seeing Jack's son in severe pain brought joy to her aching heart.

"I will save him. I am Robert Patterson's daughter and I will save my mate!", Aurora said with determination as she stared at Jax who was lying unconscious.

She had to do it…she must save him.

Everyone around the field were surprised at Aurora's words, especially the older doctors who were trying to save Alpha Jax. Who doesn't know Robert Patterson, the mysterious and unique scientist who studied poisons on werewolves and humans? He even created a serum that turns humans to werewolves!

Adrene wasn't too surprised at her name but her eyes bulged out when she heard the girl boldly declaring to save Alpha Jax. She believed it was not possible to get a cure for the poison she used on him. He can't be saved even by the daughter of Robert Patterson.

"I won't let you have the satisfaction of hurting or killing my mate. I am my father's daughter, a scientist, and it might interest you to know that I am aware of all my father's theories and experiments and trust me…I know lots of them, especially his specialty, Poisons", Aurora said as she turned to the team of doctors.

Aurora touched Jax's head and realized he was still warm," How long can you keep him?".

The doctors were reluctant to answer her but a glare from the Beta got the head doctor talking.

"He doesn't have more than thirty minutes to survive but…we can actually use the wakening serum for werewolves to induce him into a coma for at most two days. It can also stop the poison from getting to the heart but it's risky. He might not survive the dosage", Doctor Fuller replied. He was the head doctor

"How risky?", Aurora asked.

"It's a fifty to fifty percent chance. He may or may not survive it", he answered looking angered at Aurora's question. How could they trust the daughter of a betrayer?

Aurora stared at her mate's pale face before making a decision. She took a deep breath to calm her emotions.

"Give him one tenth of the dosage of the wakening serum. It would reduce the coma to a day while I bring another of my father's serum to reduce the risk. I will make the antidote in less than twenty four hours", Aurora said.

"Miss Patterson, this is our Alpha. We are not going to use him as one of your father's experiment", Doctor Fuller flared up.

"And he is my fucking mate! Even if you don't acknowledge me as your Luna, which I don't give a damn about, the alpha is still my MATE!", Aurora growled loudly in her Luna tone which shocked even Beta Rufus.

"Who the fuck do you think you are to question my authority as the mother to the future heir of this Pack?!", Aurora continue growling.

Everyone was shaking in fear. Even the grumpy looking Doctor Fuller had to shrink back at her fierce looking face and aura.

" Doctor Fuller, Aurora is the future Luna of the Pack and she is carrying the future heir. Don't you think you are overstepping your boundaries? Her words should be followed and I won't accept any disobedience whatsoever from anyone", Beta Rufus said with authority as he stepped in to smoothen things out.

"I am sorry, Beta Rufus. But, we answer to the Alpha or Luna of this Pack. And she is not yet our Luna. Even if she is carrying the Alpha's child, it doesn't give her authority over us. Alpha Jax hasn't acknowledged her yet…. arrrrrrrgh!", Doctor Fuller couldn't finish his statement before the cracking of bones were heard. He groaned loudly and painfully.

"I would have loved to snap his head off but this is just a warning from me to you. Anyone is welcome to try me", Aurora said with bloodshot eyes.

The secret guards and the special troops alongside Beta Rufus stood behind Aurora to show their support.

The doctors who wanted to retaliate all withdrew in fear. They don't want to be charged with treason or have their heads rolling on the ground.

It's not that they didn't acknowledge her but the older doctors there were amongst the colleagues of Aurora's father and they all witnessed his brutality and…betrayal.

When they found out she was the daughter of Robert Patterson, no matter how much they try to acknowledge Aurora, they couldn't as they were afraid of being betrayed again. Even if the person was the daughter.

But seeing Aurora acting fiercely with all the trusted men of the Alpha behind her, they all had no choice but to follow her instructions.

Doctor Fuller was being treated by another doctor so his assistant administered the injection as directed by Aurora before he was carefully carried into the van. They drove him to the Pack's specialist hospital.

Immediately the van left, Aurora broke down in tears. She had just been acting tough before these people. She wasn't that brave, she just wanted to save Jax. She looked at Rufus teary eyed.

"I have to save him, Rufus. I just have to save him", she said sniffing with a choked up voice.

"Yes, you have to save him and remember that I am always here for you. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask me", Rufus said as he hugged her tightly..

Aurora calms down after a while as she beckons on Rufus to follow her where she can get the requirements needed for the antidotes.

Aurora was grateful to her father for the lessons he taught her while he was alive. He did not only teach her but he also listed out all his experiments and solutions. While reading through her father's diary she had come across many secret antidotes to various poisons.

This particular poison of the trinitaria plant had been her favorite science project. The plant had caught her fancy when she realized how dangerous it was to the humans and especially werewolves. Her father had been working on the antidote for years but he suddenly stopped one day.

When she asked him the reason, he just brushed it off. It wasn't after his death, she came across the reason her father stopped looking for the antidote. He also hid the main particle needed for the antidote to work on werewolves.
