Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Ignoring Aliya and her meaningless rants as she called it, Aurora carefully tucked the money and wallet into her almost worn out bag separating the money from the wallet.

She was going to sell the wallet because it looked very new and something that would cost a lot of money so there would be no way she would be throwing it away.

She rested her back on the chilly wall, wondering how she would get out of the wine bar without anyone noticing her especially big Mandy whose eyes are always sharp like torchlight.

And what if that man is still there? She couldn't help but panicked. He might find out his wallet was missing and maybe try to ask her.

What ever happens, she could not stay inside the changing room for ever. She needs to get out as soon as possible.

Aurora held tightly to her bag and was about walking to the door when it opened making her heart flew out of her chest for a second.

She heaved a sigh of relief when she noticed it was Jenny, relaxing her raging nerves, she plastered a fake smile on her face.

"Hi Rora, I'm back" Jenny called out smiling as she walked towards Aurora looking freshly showered, her flower scented perfume filled the room, kinda irritating Aurora.

She hated girly stuffs and wondered how someone would put on a flower scented perfumes when they are not bees.

"Okay, I hope you're good now" Aurora managed to ask holding tight to her bag while comporting herself.

"Yeah I am, thank you for filling in for me, I really appreciate" Jenny thanked her.

"It's ok, I'm glad I helped but I think it's your turn to help me now. I need to get out of here immediately without anyone seeing me, Do you understand?" Aurora asked, her eyes roamed all over Jenny and pinned to the door afterwards.

Jenny kept quiet staring at Aurora's weirdly. Her attitude was somehow weird that she couldn't understand why she wanted to leave the shop without anyone seeing her.

"What? Why are you staring at me in such manner?" Aurora snapped, raising her voice a little too harsh.

"Sorry" Aurora apologized noticing the scared look that had creeped onto Jenny's face and the last thing she would want to do now is getting Jenny upset thereby ruining the chances of her getting her assistance.

"No problem" Jenny muttered lowly and Aurora smiled, held her hands then dragged her to the door, pushing her outside then bent and whispered into her ears.

"Do not tell any one you saw me leaving" she whispered and with that, she sneaked out of the changing room and the bar entirely.

There was still a little commotion at the bar so it wasn't very difficult for her to leave without being noticed.

On getting outside, Aurora drew in a long breath happy the man was no longer there and big Mandy also wasn't there. She might have ran for her life, if not she would have noticed Aurora as her eyes were so sharp.

Aurora couldn't believe a huge amount of money was in her handbag. There won't be any need trekking when she has such an amount with her.

"Oh mother, we would sure eat to our heart felt tonight" she muttered happily, flagged down a taxi and got in.

There are taxis in the slums, two or three but they are rarely seen as no one here has the money to board a taxi.

Everyone living here all board public buses or trek it out, no one cares about taxis so it was a thing of joy to Aurora when one passed that she has to quickly board it.

Minutes later, she alighted and paid the taxi man who smiled gratefully on her asking him to keep the change.

Well she needed to be generous at least with the rich man's money.

Aurora trotted to her house in all smiles, her mother was right there in her shade selling fruit to a little boy.

She raised her head in smiles and when she saw Aurora coming home at that time of the day, her expression changed to that of sadness.

"She must have lost her job, my poor girl" Rebecca mourned.

On seeing her mother's sad face, Aurora brightened her smile making sure to show out all her teeths so her mother would see she was happy and not sad.

On seeing her happy expression, Rebecca's frowned face began stretching to a smile.

"It looks like my daughter wasn't sacked. Maybe something made her return because if she was sacked, she wouldn't be so happy" Rebecca thought.

She collected money from the little boy, giving him his change, he smiled and ran out with the fruit nylon dangling in his hands.

"Aurora" Rebecca called and Aurora's smile broadened.

"Don't bother asking why I wasn't at work mother, if it might interest you to know, then I quit my job.

"I'm no longer interested in working in that wine store" Aurora blew the bomb knowing her mother was about to query her and she had h no such time so she went straight to tell he she quitted.

Rebecca's mouth widened and the apples she was arranging fell from her hands.

"You did what Rora? Why? How?" Baffled, her mother dropped to the bench, dragging her to sit.

"You see mother, you don't need to know what happened that made me quit, all you need to know is that I got a better opportunity and I can no longer work there" Aurora uttered.

"You sound really confusing Rora, tell me what happened" Rebecca requested but Aurora shook her head in reply.

"Mama I'm tired and needs to rest. Tomorrow, I would go to the city and get you enough fruits for your shade" with that being said, she turned around and sauntered into the house and to her room to bury herself in massive joy.

On getting to her room, Aurora dashed to the bed in a haste, she couldn't even wait to remove her clothes or even lock the door, instead she threw herself to the bed and poured out all the money, starting to count them all over.
