Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Right now, I’m at Adonis’ office, and he’s trying to figure out where Cole and I will meet. It’s like if I’m a girlfriend attempting to discover whether my partner is cheating. It just made me feel nauseous. After Cole and I finished talking, he was abruptly called and informed that there was an issue at their workplace. It’s inconvenient for me since that’s my only hope to ask if he knows the case about the Everdeen. I’m at Adonis’ office right now because of what happened. Isn’t that also great news? I managed to persuade Cole to join me for a meal out.

“Take a seat first; you haven’t even gotten that man’s phone number. You would have been conversing and inquiring where you would meet if you had taken his number to make our plan easier.” Adonis frankly stated. I felt it was a huge issue to Adonis that I did not get Cole’s phone number. For five minutes, I didn’t even speak to that man! I didn’t even put my acting skills to work!

But, amid my mental whining, I got a flash of insight about what he had meant! I’m not sure why I didn’t take Cole’s phone number. In that manner, I believe it will be easier for me to find information. I slapped Hugo on the back as if I was interested in what he had to say. He gave me a stern look and expressed his displeasure with what I was doing.

This guy is a nightmare! Is he incapable of making a joke?! He wouldn’t allow me out of his office since he was likely to have a board of directors meeting today. Because I’m here, he won’t allow his secretary in. Perhaps he was concerned that his secretary would overhear our conversation. I sat on the sofa in his large office when he came out. I’m not sure if this man will ever possess the entire world. Even the workplace, which was supposed to be modest and exact, resembled a condominium. I don’t mean to sound dramatic, but it is the fact.

I even went on a stroll to see what I might find. I was astounded to see the enormous structures just across from his large building as I glanced through his glass wall. From here, I can see the bottom and the cars going past. I had no idea that looking at what I thought was a hectic road could be so lovely. When we’re gone, we occasionally see the beauty, and when we’re gone, we notice the worth.

I held my arm as I reminisced about my parents. My phone on Adonis’ desk rang as I was staring down the track. I put it there earlier since I didn’t have a pouch with me when I went to the meeting place with Cole. Because I took too long to move, the number was disconnected. It was an unknown number when I looked at who had missed the call. When the number suddenly flashed on the screen again, I would have tried to text it to ask.

I’m still undecided about answering because Adonis told me not to answer anyone’s call, especially it is one from his number, but in the end, all I did was hit the green button.

“Hello?” That’s the first thing I did when I picked up the phone. No one said anything at first, but the person on the other end of the line eventually sighed. I’m not sure if he’s simply frustrated or what, but his tone is agitated. On the other line, I heard the sound of glasses breaking on the table. I was about to drop the call since he didn’t appear to have any intention of responding. When he talked, I would have hit the end call button.

“It’s like though your voice is a melody to my ears.” I could hear his grin and visualize his appearance. With this voice, I can’t go wrong. This is not the first time I’ve heard this voice. That is the voice I dislike hearing the most, yet I have no option but to listen to it.

I responded softly after I took a long breath. My voice does not appear to shatter glasses. Adonis’s swivel chair is where I sit. My eyes were fixed on the wall as if he was that wall and the knife, glass, and leather, or every ounce of it, were buried in his chest.

“Mr. Dela Vega. Where did you find my number?” I know that with the extent of his connections, he can easily find my information. The truth is that Adonis has deleted my previous information and intends not to secure my new information to make it easier for him to search. Some of my information there is unknown. But the information that stood out was my modeling. The company listed there does not exist, so no matter what he does, he will not be able to find it. Another piece of information that is there is the image of me pretending to always attend events to donate large sums of money. I don’t know how Adonis did that.

“Does it matter that Miss Luna knows this? You did give me a card number, didn’t you? You can know anything as long as you have power.” He mentioned something that made me grin. Mr. Dela Vega, you’re a thorn in my side, but let’s see how far your arrogance can get you. In my palms, I’ll be playing with you.

Because I forgot I gave the card number. I want to smack my head.

In front of me is a piece of paper. While my phone was still in my ear, I gently slumped. He abruptly resumed as I tightened my teeth. “Luna, where do you want to go? Oh! Can I call you Luna instead of Miss?” he requested. You believed there was something hilarious in what he said since he laughed so gently.

I feigned to chuckle as well, rolling my eyes. “I don’t care about that, Mr. Dela Vega, where are you comfortable?” I placed my phone on the table, switched on the speaker, and examined the crumpled paper, thinking there was something significant about it.

When I opened it, the secretary gasped as she ran towards me. Her eyes widened to see what I was holding. I don’t know how she caught it with my hand but her face suddenly went pale but I think I should be more nervous because of the crease I made there. I was so angry with Cole!

“Miss Luna this is—”

Before bowing, she didn’t finish her statement and tapped on the table. She was taken surprised by what I did because I touched my chest. The secretary of Adonis is stunning. It’s not unexpected that Adonis will like her one day because she’s still young. Her hair was short and green, and it reached up to her neck. Her chin was in great shape, her eyes were small, and she needed to pierce her nose.

Because of Adonis’ position and the way he communicates, it looks that he can not even appreciate a woman! At times, the robot may be lovely and compassionate, and even manufactured laughter can be entertaining! That guy isn’t like that at all! He merely needs to cover his face, as even a simple smile from him is tough to get by!

“I am sorry!” I closed my eyes tightly and then continued to apologize. When she did not speak, I looked up at her and saw that she was astonished. “I didn’t know that was important! I thought it was scratch paper, so I crumpled it without knowing it!” My reaction now is like remorse for what I did. I suddenly looked at my phone that has still a light screen.

I suddenly covered my mouth and then looked at the woman in front of me. My eyes widened, then I wondered if I had said anything to this secretary that Cole could hear. I turned it off immediately and then banged my head as if anxious because I didn’t even turn off the call! I still struggle to remember if I said something wrong. Fortunately, there is none. I looked at the secretary again with astonishing eyes still. I also wonder why she is still standing here.

“Please tell Adonis that I didn’t mean to! I’m sure he’ll understand it!” I sat down again in the swivel chair, then I swiveled myself there. I was still laughing at first, but when I turned around once more, the secretary was still standing next to me, so I was also surprised.

“Is there anything more you need?” I rested my elbows on the table and then seemed to be angry by looking at her seriously. I practiced meeting Cole for a few days because I wanted to see how he would react to me. Wealthy people don’t care what they have as long as they have something lovely in front of them. The secretary replied to me while she was pondering.

“Miss Luna, did you see or read anything on the paper?” She still hasn’t opened the crumpled paper from earlier. She didn’t have anything else on her; perhaps Adonis sent her here to grab this paper, and she forgot to bring her belongings.

I smiled at her and held out my hand. She looked at it curiously, then turned her eyes back to me. “Why? Should I read anything there?”

She hurriedly shook her head and hid the paper behind her. “I appreciate it, Miss Luna. I need to get to the meeting room right now since I’m afraid I’m going to miss a lot of the discussions. I’ll just inform Mr. Adonis as to why the paper was ruined. Mr. Adonis also failed to mention that there was another door in the restroom. He said you may go in there and relax if you wanted to view it. He stated you’ll both return home, and he’ll only wake you up when he is done.”

I no longer answered her and returned my eyes on the phone to the desk. I looked at the last message there. That, again, is the unknown number. Cole’s number.

“Let’s have dinner at Rehov Restaurant tomorrow.”

I smiled at what I read and happily entered the room, Adonis was saying.
