Chapter 8: Chapter 8
My feet quickly reverted to their previous position. I dashed over to his back and examined the tablet he was strolling with his hands. I snatched it from him when I saw Cole’s name on one of the calendar numbers. I immediately grinned. He yanked it from my grasp and pointed to the electric stove. There is also a gas stove, but as we are the only two people in the house, I may use the electric stove.
I pretended to chuckle at him before walking away and picking up the frying fan. That’s something I’m thinking about right now. “Hehe. Can you tell me what you want me to cook?” I was still giggling with delight.
“Cook, just what you are familiar with. If I recommend something, I’m concerned you won’t be able to prepare it.” His tone is usually solemn and his face is expressionless. He did not pause to press the tablet. I’ll just stare at him when he closes the iPad and then he looks at me.
“Hehe. I’m going to prepare a meal.” I held back from slapping him with the frying pan I was carrying, even though I had already spanked him in my head! I had no option but to follow his orders! I could wind myself back on the street if I don’t follow him.
I was staring at the egg inside of the refrigerator. I instantly recalled that I had never cooked before. After all, he stated I would only prepare dishes I was capable of preparing, so I left to the refrigerator with the bacon and eggs in my hands. I think I will fail to prepare for it. He had left the table where he had been sitting earlier. He didn’t even make a sound when he walked away.
The frying pan is already on the electric stove. I didn’t even know how to open it at first. I had to spend another ten minutes before I could finally open it. I quickly pour the oil into the frying pan before adding the bacon and eggs. I’m curious as to why that doesn’t sound like what I hear on television. I tried to switch on the electric stove, but it was not working. The loud splash of oil shocked me.
“ADONIS! ADONIS!” I screamed. “AAAHHH!!!” Even if I switch off the electric burner, I’m yelling because I’m frightened the oil may leak. The food I’m cooking is also turning black! Because of the size of his home, Adonis may not be able to hear me. As a result, I raised my voice even higher.
“ADOONIIISSS!!!” When I yelled, a slew of guys rushed in. Adonis was the first to rush up to me, as I was now holding the lid in place to keep the grease from spilling out.
When the electric stove goes out, the sound of cooking with oil becomes a little weakened. Adonis glared fiercely at me. I was afraid he was going to attack me, but instead, he grabbed my hand and examined my body to check if I had been wounded. When I saw the bacon was black, it was hard for me to smile.
When he abruptly grabbed my arm, I groaned. It had been splattered with oil twice, but I disregarded it since I couldn’t figure out how to get the oil to stop. He almost tripped me when he yanked me out of the kitchen, but he spoke up before we could get out.
“Mark, cook there; clean the oiled portions as well; something slick may cause an accident.”
He didn’t say anything else. He led me to the second floor, and even though our rooms are next to each other, I haven’t been able to enter his room since I moved here. I also can’t hear him, even if it’s just a crackle, so I’m not sure if he’s already in the room; after all, I’m the only one playing music in my room.
He dragged me in and forced me to sit on the bed. He went straight to where he was needed and appeared with a medkit. He pulled out the cotton and alcohol as he sat down in front of me. I quickly moved my arm away from him and then spoke. “It doesn’t hurt, here, have a look at my wound; it’s just too little. It’s like being bitten by an ant.” I sighed and rolled my eyes.
He was still waiting for my arm to be handed over to him. When he rose and took his tablet from the office table, I wouldn’t have handed it to him. Why is there so much furniture in this room? Is he such a slacker? He gave me a calendar that he had created on his iPad.
“17 out of 20 will go to the venue where I claim you will meet Cole; do you want to go there with a wound on your shoulder? What do you expect him to say? You have no idea how to look after your body?” Like a lady, he rolled his eyes. Isn’t it enough that he does and acts like a lady?
“Do you understand what you’re saying? Pointless. You’re relying on your imagination and your ability to think too much. Don’t you know that if you put toothpaste on your arm when it’s burnt, it will be OK in a day or two?” I took the cotton in his palm that he had moistened in alcohol. When I pressed it on my arm, I instantly felt pain.
I handed it back to him after wiping it on my arm. “Is it fine now? Could you explain to me what your plan is?”
He stood up and returned to where he had taken the medkit earlier. I just looked at him and ran my eyes all over his room. You wouldn’t think a man like him would be so classy. There wasn’t even anything here. Simple office desk, TV screen attached to the wall, beautiful ceiling and a few antiques such as a cabinet and a few chairs. Compared to the house of a family with mid-class life, this room is much bigger.
“All we have to do now is set a day when you see him again. You can ask him a few questions about their company there, but don’t tell him anything about your family so he doesn’t get suspicious.” He then opened the tablet and the first thing he displayed was the location where many people were fishing. With so many people around, it’s difficult for me to talk to him.
“Cole has a grandma, and because he is the most beloved of all, he adores her as well. All you have to do is pretend that you, too, have a grandma to make him feel better about himself and demonstrate that you are connected or share similar feelings.” He presented me with a bracelet. “How you handle it is entirely up to you.” This is all you’ll need to carry out our strategy.”
I just sat there calmly, listening to him as he removed a box from beneath his bed. One is a heavy jacket, while the other is a sleeveless dress with a short skirt. Is he certain I’ll put them on? I studied it and unfurled it in front of his eyes. When I wear the skirt, I’m concerned that my chest and underpants may be seen.
I walked out of the room when we finished talking. A day went by swiftly, and the day arrived when I would ‘accidentally’ run into Cole. I’m now riding. Adonis will drive me to the location to ensure that Cole will go there. We noticed the fisherman as we drove by. There are more people because it is Sunday. We were hunting for Cole when I noticed him sitting on the side of the road with the fishing pole still upright. It appears that he did anything to see whether anyone had taken his bait.
When I looked at Adonis, I noticed that he was staring at the same thing I was. “Just drop me here so he can’t see us,” I said. He didn’t complain anymore and gave me the fishing rod and the small basket.
He squeezed my nose and teased me before I could get out. “You need to bring a lot of fish home so we can eat something. You don’t know how to cook!” He guffaws.
I watched him grin for the first time! That, I believe, is the most significant flex and improvement. Soon after I slowed down, I got down and headed towards Cole. Fortunately, he didn’t have anyone close to him, so he could readily see me.
I feigned to toss the fishing rod, but it never made it to its intended destination. Because he glanced at me and saw the surprise on his face, I was successful. His reaction and approach were visible in my peripheral vision. I feigned to be disappointed when he was just a few feet away.
“Luna?” The joy in his eyes was obvious. I wonder if you showed the same eye to my parents before you killed them.
I pretended to be surprised myself as I gazed at him. “Mr. Dela Vega!” I exclaimed. I also approached him. I took the bracelet Adonis had given me from my pocket.
“How did you end up here, Luna?” I started doing what I needed to do, since his smile stayed on his lips.
I let go of my circular bracelet. I purposefully cracked them to allow them to fall to the ground. With a surprised gaze and teary eyes, I performed. “Oh my God!” I cried. “It’s my grandmother’s bracelet!”. I picked them up.
His eyes were filled with sympathy. That’s the way things are. Continue to believe until I force you to admit your lie! My eyes were filled with artificial tears, so I wiped them away. “I usually come here since it’s my grandmother’s favorite location to eat fish,” I sadly said. “I want her to live on in my heart forever, therefore I’ll always return here to remember her. You?”
“I’m sad to hear of your grandmother’s passing. I’ve come to unwind and rest after a long day of work. He searched about in his pocket, as if hunting for something, but then came to a halt.
“No. I’d like to know whether you have a grandmother as well. I have a soft spot for the elderly.” I changed the subject so he wouldn’t realize I was lying, but he didn’t respond. Maybe Adonis was right regarding Cole’s aversion to discussing his grandma. I’m sorry, Cole, but you just handed me another chance to shatter you.
“Are you planning a trip next week?” Do you want us to come back here and discuss so we can learn more about each other’s lives? That will be the game plan no matter what I do. Cole, you’re simply a player in my game.
When he replied, I grinned.
“Are you sure? I’ll be grateful!”
