Chapter 109: Chapter 109

There was a nail lodged in my throat, preventing me from calling Adonis for some reason. The moment Luke became aware of where I was looking, he turned away from me as well. We both sat there watching as Adonis walked away until he was no longer reach my sight. I shifted my gaze to Luke, who was now looking at me to point and say something.

"It appears that our boss has a thing for you. He even allowed you to spend the stay in his cabin." While he was getting some snacks, I observed him looking at me. Because of what he mentioned, I was unable to respond. I don't presume anyone is informed of our existence in the life of their CEO. "It's a good thing that his girlfriend isn't mad at him..." He paused for a moment to take a sip of his water bottle. "Perhaps it's because you have a child that Ma'am Jessica doesn't have to worry about anything anymore. It has come to our—- the crew, I mean, attention that she wanted to sleep where you were staying, but Sir Adonis disagreed."

It was almost as if I was dismayed by what he had stated. So, it is undoubtedly true that he is in a relationship with Jessica. I was under the assumption that he was only raising an issue because he was a business tycoon, as I had been before.

He doesn't have the authority to tell me because everything has already ended between us, but I want to know what has happened to him. Anywhere and everywhere, my thoughts took me until Luke showed up in front of me and touched me. I turned my gaze to him, who was now directly across from me. I was entirely ignorant that he was so close to me.

"What?" I asked him directly. If Adonis were standing in front of me right now, I might not be able to tell how fast my heart is beating. However, when other men talk to me—- they are just normal to me. There is nothing that stands out. I drew my chin away a little, thinking that if someone saw us from a distance, they would think we were doing something unbelievable.

"Didn't you hear what I was saying?" He questioned. I just shook my head because his brows were meeting now.

I breathed a sigh of relief as Athen awoke, and her eye first landed on the man in front of me. Their expressions were almost similar, but when Athen recognized him, her face instantly brightened, and she reached out and shook Luke's hand.

“Mister! Do you want to swim in the ocean? A mother forbids me from doing so, but now that you are here, perhaps you can work your magic once more to convince her just like you did when she let me serve as your model!" I don’t know where this kid gets her words from because, first of all, I didn’t teach her that kind of behavior.

I’m sure that’s what he adapted to Wayne.

"Athens!" I warned her, but she didn't appear interested in hearing what I had to say.

"Could you please, Mister?" As if in prayer, she even put her hands together in front of him. She rolled her begging eyes, and I couldn't help but give her a heartfelt facepalm for what she had done. Luke couldn't keep a smile off his face. Perhaps he can't believe that my child is capable of such deception.

Luke ruffled Athen's hair, then laughed out loud. Athen, on the other hand, made her face even sadder. I looked up at the sky because it was getting dark. Adonis' reaction earlier flashed in my brain. I couldn’t erase his face out of my mind. When I look at the wave, it also gets more robust with each movement. I stood up while Luke lifted Athen. I straightened my messy clothes and took Athen in Luke's arms.

"We have to go back; possibly the heavy rain will fall."

He turned Athen back to me, and I walked away without telling him. I never even asked what he was saying earlier. If what he says is essential, I'm sure he'll open the topic again. I watched the waves as we strolled. But as I stopped, a lot of memories poured in. I felt the rain slowly falling, so I lifted Athen to run.

But before I could do that, I already had an umbrella over my head.

I raised my head to see who it was and see Adonis's eyes. He took Athen from me and pulled me for a walk. He is also the holder of the umbrella. With the size of his body, I had a chance to get wet, so he yanked my shoulder and pulled me closer to him.

"Have you eaten?" I couldn’t help but ask him. But I waited a minute, but I got no answer from him. I just kept my mouth shut until the rain gradually increased.

Until we got home, he never spoke to me again. I didn't even try to converse because I thought he didn't want to talk to me anymore. I know his reason.

My heart rejoices because he followed me earlier. My heart is running with happiness along with the butterflies.

When he got Athen inside, I didn't follow them. I waited for him in the kitchen, but it was a long time before he came out.

And when he got out, I quickly got up from my seat. He looked at me, but he was on his way to the door when I stopped him.

"Where are you going?"

He was already holding the umbrella and ready to open it, but he stopped. He didn’t turn to me, but I saw his arm become tense.

"Why?" He asked back to me, which gave a stone to my heart. I thought that was all I would feel, but the butterfly danced from my stomach the next time he asked.

"Why don't you go back to the photographer you were talking to?"
