Chapter 48: Chapter 48
“Thank you for arranging a time to meet me.”
Sebastian and Mikhail were inside a VIP room in a Japanese restaurant. None of them were fans of Japanese food. And that’s more the reason why they chose this place. Because they don’t want to enjoy eating lunch together.
“I really wanted to meet you again and curse at you once more,” Sebastian added, glaring at Agatha’s ex-fiance.
Mikhail took a sip of his tea. His elegant movements showcased his status as the only heir of the Hamington group. Whereas on the other side, Sebastian, who was the heir of Hopkins corporation, was wearing a plain shirt and ripped pants.
Despite the difference between their outfits, they are in the same league.
“Since we haven’t enjoyed each other’s company since day one, I will make this quick,” Mikhail said. “Are you really dating Agatha?”
Sebastian chuckled sardonically.
“F*cking assh*le. After abandoning Agatha, you have the least right to ask that question. Okay, let’s make it quick.”
Sebastian picked up the juice and threw it in Mikhail’s face.
Splash!
The juice dripped from Mikhail’s chin. He was quite unbothered, as he expected this. After all, he was the bad guy who left Agatha when she needed him the most.
“Stay away from Agatha,” Sebastian warned. “Don’t appear in the review center. If you do, I’ll beat you even if we both end up in jail or the news. That would be fun.”
Mikhail picked up the towel and wiped his face. Next, his wolf-like eyes, sharp and gray, pierced directly at Sebastian.
“From the first day we met, I knew it right then. You like Agatha,” Mikhail said.
Sebastian curled his fists into cannonballs. Men could indeed read each other’s intentions, as well as Sebastian could tell Mikhail is still in love with his best friend.
“If you are really her boyfriend, instead of warning me, you would go and beat my face right away. But since you did not, that means you are still in that f*cking friend zone.”
Mikhail arrogantly lifted his chin, narrowing one eye and raising an eyebrow. He looks like a devil testing the last inch of patience Sebastian has with him.
“Does Agatha know that? That you harbor feelings for her?”
Sebastian laughed, a gruff voice creaked like a gallows chain and resonated in the VIP room.
“At least I have a zone to protect,” Sebastian answered. He placed his elbows on the table, leaned closer, and added, “What about you? You lost your territory. Wrecked and unrestorable. Agatha loathed seeing your face.”
“I… know,” Mikhail answered. “I hurt her a lot. And I regretted it. When I saw her again, I realized I couldn’t live without her.”
“Total nonsense. I said what I wanted to say. Shut up and get lost.”
Sebastian stood up and grabbed his bag.
“My father betrayed her father.”
Sebastian looked back, dead-dropped curious.
“What do you mean?” Sebastian asked.
“My father framed her father, and that’s why he was arrested for tax evasion.”
The revelation was too shocking, Sebastian was unable to say a thing.
“After knowing the truth, I know that Agatha would resent me. How can she date the son of the man who betrayed her father? Wouldn’t she feel awful seeing my face?”
Sebastian hated Mikhail for leaving Agatha. But now, he was thankful for him. Mikhail was so considerate; he broke up with Agatha even though he loves her so much. For that, Sebastian respected Mikhail’s decision.
“I can’t forgive my father. I wanted to reveal the truth, but it was hard to find evidence.”
“Hey,” Sebastian called, he sat down again and placed his bag on the ground. “If things go South, your father and his stock would plummet.”
“I don’t care anymore. He stole Agatha away from me. My father deserves to be punished. So, I asked you to meet me, Sebastian. I was jealous of you, I really was. But if you can help me restore my relationship, even just get Agatha’s forgiveness, it’s enough. I can’t date her anymore. However, seeing her and avoiding her hurt me so much. Can you just please help me?”
Will it be okay to help an ex-fiance?
As a man who loves Agatha, Sebastian knew how fatal it would be. However, there is one more reason why Sebastian wanted to think twice.
‘What if this is related to Agatha’s father’s murder case?’ Sebastian considered. Therefore…
“Promise me one thing,” Sebastian said.
“What?”
“Me helping you, keep it a secret from Agatha.”

Agatha’s POV
What is the reason why Brett asked me to seduce Lanceil?
Last night, I found a clue.
[“I think I will ruin Lanceil’s life even more.”]
He wanted to ruin Lanceil’s life.
‘In what way? How does using me will help?’
More than that, I am more intrigued about one thing.
‘Was he jealous?’
“Damn it.”
I shook my head and caressed my chest which kept pounding so hard while thinking of my ruthless master. Thanks to him, I almost forgot the clumsy confession I told to Lanceil.
“Agatha?”
“Huh?”
“You’re not responding. I’ve been calling you many times,” Sebastian complained.
“I am so sorry. I was thinking of another thing. What is it again?”
Sebastian and I were inside the review center facility. But instead of reviewing, my mind kept on wandering.
“Let’s stop reviewing,” Sebastian suggested, sighing. “Your mind is somewhere else. Did you reach the North Pole?”
“Barely.”
“Were you bothered because of your father’s case?”
Shoot. Another thanks to Brett. Those thoughts slipped out of my mind.
“Sebastian, about my father’s case, what would be the killer’s intention for killing my Dad?”
Sebastian looked left to right, making sure no one would hear us. He leaned closer and whispered, “My uncle said that your dad invested in many corporations. However, none of his profit went back to you. Right?”
“Yes.”
Because if there is any money left, I would use that to pay the debts.
“He probably invested under another name. But there must be a condition to get the remaining stocks and money left by your father.”
“You mean… there’s a chance he was hiding money?”
“Exactly.”
Money.
The killer wanted to get his money. The probability makes sense.
“Excuse me?”
A woman, the operator of the review center, approached us. Pausing our conversation, we looked at her. I was worried that Sebastian and I were talking loudly, and she would ask us to leave the center.
“Are you from list two?” she asked.
“We are,” Sebastian answered.
“Great. There’s a new professor who will handle list two. Can you follow me? Your group mate were all waiting for you in the study room.”
Finally, a professor will handle the review group. I’ve been waiting for this since day one.
‘Let’s focus on my study first. I’ll think about other things after this.’
We were ushered to the study room. Arriving there, we met our group mates. It was looking good, not until I saw my ex-fiance.
‘Mikhail belongs to this group?’
There’s nothing to worry about. I’m with Sebastian.
“You okay?” Sebastian asked as we perched down at the very corner, away from Mikhail.
From behind, I could feel Mikhail staring at me. My nape felt itchy for a reason.
“No big deal,” I said as I placed my books on the table.
My pen rolled and fell on the floor.
“Let me get it,” Sebastian offered.
“No. I’ll get it.”
I ducked beneath the table and picked up my pen. As I did, the door of the study room opened. I saw the professor’s shoes. Brown leather shoes. Looks smart. I wonder about the face.
“Good evening, class. I will be your new professor and I will handle this group for two months.”
I lifted my head and sat straight, excited to see the professor’s face. But when I did, the smile on my lips evaporated.
“I am Professor Lawrence Lozeno, and I hope we can enjoy our time together.”
Lawrence, my fiancé, looked at me and winked his eye.
