Chapter 47: Chapter 47

“I think I like you, Sir.”

Lanceil’s ears turned red.

He was so surprised that only, “H-Huh?” came out of his mouth.

Lanceil doubted his ears. It’s possible that he heard her wrong, so he didn’t say anything until Agatha’s voice came back and proved him wrong.

“I really do like you,” she repeated.

His emotions shook like waves. It went up and down, banging side to side. He wasn’t specifically sure if the confession should make him amused or glum, and as his expression faltered between smiling or scowling, all that was left was the blank look on his face.

If it is a dream, he will be happy because at least he won’t be afraid to give his reply.

But if it isn't a dream, he will also be happy that she made him realize that feeling that he kept on refusing. Now he’s at a loss. Blank and empty-headed. But his heart was full of joy, anxiousness, hope, despair, guilt, excitement…

Was it really this nerve-wracking to fall in love again? It was like doing a parachute gliding only to realize that he wasn’t wearing a parachute after he jumped from the helicopter.

‘I need to answer,’ he thought. ‘I have to say that I like her too.’

He opened his lips, about to answer but…

“I like my best friend too. Our neighbor who helped me, and the kind security guard.”

“…”

Agatha shifted her eyes away from him and added, “Liking and loving someone are different. Marriage? How can I marry someone when I am not stable? Working here as a maid and studying for my board exam. I have no time to date. I can like people, but love? I don’t think I am allowed to feel that.”

Her words demolished the happiness he had for a moment. It was as if a wrecking ball swooped in and broke his heart into pieces.

‘So, it is not that kind of like,’ he said to himself.

A moment of silence swept the space. After a while, Lanceil grabbed his shirt and walked away, saying, “Finish that and sleep.”

“Yes, Sir,” Agatha answered without looking back.

Agatha finished the dishes and went inside her room. As soon as she walked in, she pressed her aching chest.

She was so damn nervous.

“I almost made a mistake,” she said.

Agatha could not believe what she did out of impulse. She heard that women who confessed first have the least chance to have their love reciprocated by the men they like. That was the reason why she pulled out the confession.

But is that the only reason?

“No,” Agatha mumbled while lying on her bed.

She was scared to get hurt. Agatha loved Mikhail so much. And what happened in the end? She was abandoned.

What made this current romance more difficult than before is that Agatha was sincere. She really likes Lanceil and therefore, if the contract was terminated and she had to let him go, she knew she would only get hurt.

“From the first place, I shouldn’t have fallen for him.”

She grabbed her phone.

It is midnight.

Agatha wanted to call Sebastian and asked for advice.

“Is he still awake?”

She pressed the number and placed the phone in her ear, waiting for Sebastian to pick up the call. After seconds, the other person picked up the call.

“I confessed to someone by mistake. What should I do?”

[“You did? To whom?”]

Her eyes widened. That voice doesn’t belong to Sebastian!

She looked at her phone again and realized that she pressed Brett’s number instead! How did she make that mistake? Sebastian’s name is too far from Brett!

Agatha remembered she changed Brett’s name to “Satan’s Boss.”

Blaming herself, she groaned silently as she put the phone back in her ear.

[“Did you confess to Lanceil? How did he react?”]

Since it comes to this, Agatha pretended that she called him to give him a report about the seduction plan.

“He didn’t react. Didn’t say anything.”

[“Condolence, my slave.”]

“What the hell are you saying?”

[“I mean, it’s pretty obvious he rejected you.”]

“I said I confessed by mistake. I was only… you know, trying to seduce him just like what you wanted me to do. But I didn’t even mean to say that.”

[“I am happy that you are dedicated to your mission. But are you sure? They said half of your action speaks the truth.”]

Agatha laughed at that.

“Oh really? If that’s true, I might think you like me. Didn’t you kiss me a lot?”

Brett didn’t answer. Thinking that the call was interrupted by the slow signal, Agatha checked the screen. She frowned when she saw that the call was still on, but she could hear nothing from the other line.

As much as she wanted to ask if he was still there, she was afraid of making the conversation more awkward, thus she waited for his response to come back.

[“I am teasing you. Your expression entertains me.”]

Agatha felt a sense of relief.

[“You are my first kiss, though.”]

She gasped and sat up in shock.

“WHAT? YOU’RE KIDDING RIGHT?”

[“No. I have never dated before. So basically, you are my first kiss.”]

“YOU ARE CRAZY. WHY DID YOU DO THAT?”

[“You answered your own question. Say the first line.”]

“You are crazy.”

[“Exactly.”]

Agatha laughed. She didn’t know which part of their conversation made her feel ridiculous. But whenever she’s talking with Brett, the level of her conversation sagacity spikes up.

[“And you, when are your first kiss?”]

“I have the right to keep that with me.”

[“No, you don’t. I am your master, and you are my slave. You should never defy my order, that’s the rule. Now, tell me. Where was your first kiss?”]

Agatha lay down on her bed and tried to remember her first kiss.

“With my first boyfriend.”

[“Name?”]

Instead of saying her boyfriend’s real name, Agatha lied, “Michael Jordan.”

[“You don’t have talent in lying.”]

“Anyway, let’s call him Michael.”

[“So, when was it?”]

“Under the shade of the tree, we confessed each other’s feelings. And there it is. We kissed.”

Agatha spent time telling stories to Brett. And her master just listened, as if he was enjoying hearing her stories. They didn’t realize how much time passed. In fact, Agatha wasn’t sure why she was willing to tell everything to Brett. Perchance, it was because Brett knew her real identity and her real character.

She had no idea what their last topic was about. Agatha felt sleepy, and in the middle of the call, she fell asleep.

[“Hey. Are you asleep?”]

“…”

[“Sh*t. It was you who called first and you slept first too. What a bad manner.”]

“…”

[“Since you are sleeping, I can say everything I want.”]

“…”

[“You are right. Actions speak the truth.”]

“…”

[“I still don’t know why I kissed you and enjoyed doing sexy things with you.”]

“…”

[“But I really hope you didn’t confess to Lanceil because you meant it.”]

“…”

[“I hate to think that you are really falling in love with Lanceil.”]

“…”

[“Because if you do, I think I will ruin Lanceil’s life even more.”]

Tut… Tut… Tut…

The phone call was disconnected.

Slowly, Agatha opened her eyes. Her heart was beating so much harder than the time she confessed her feelings to Lanceil.
