Chapter 47: Chapter 47

Joanna's POV

It took me about a week to come up with a plan on how to talk to Frank. It might seem strange that it took me that long, but I needed to be emotionally and mentally stable to formulate the plan and have that kind of conversation with my Ex-boyfriend.

So I woke up on that Saturday morning with a strategy. Firstly I said my prayers, stretched my bones and went downstairs, where I saw Mom, Dad, and Elvis laughing about something on the T.V.

"Hello Fam," I greeted.

They all veered around to peek at me, giving no response, and broke out in another fit of laughter.

I know you might want to know why they cackled after staring at me for over a minute, well sorry to disappoint you, because I didn't know and I didn't care.

And I didn't mean it in a bad way, rather I was used to it, thus when you've stayed with those three people half your life, you would know their brains don't work all the time, which could result in screaming for no reason or laughing unnecessarily.

"Yeah yeah, I look like a clown, just continue what you were watching," I voiced, and rolled my eyes afterward, when they all obeyed and refocused their attention back on the T.V. Hope you see how their brains were being fried.

I entered the kitchen where I picked up two raw eggs, cubes of Maggi seasoning, a pinch of salt, onions, and oil. Breaking the eggs into a small plate, I mixed the eggs with the onions and thereafter fried them in a pan.

When I was done, I took the half loaf of bread that rested on the counter and placed it beside the fried egg on my plate before I plucked a flowered designed teacup I used in preparing my tea.

I slogged back to the living room, my breakfast in hand, and was surprised to see that Elvis was no longer present.

"Where's Elvis?" I implored, while I munched on my food.

"He walked out," Mom replied, the same time Dad shrugged.

"Alright. I'm heading out in an hour," I told them and took a sip of my tea as I gauged their reactions, which was hilarious as Mom choked on her spit and Dad's mouth dropped open.

"Oh come on." I chuckled, "It hasn't been that long."

"Sweetie, you haven't been out in a week, a whole week." Mom conveyed in a sigh, "You even turned down games with the guys. Now tell me if that's normal for you."

"Well I'm going out today, I'm sure that's something," I mumbled as I strolled to the kitchen and rinsed my plate and teacup.

"Are you sure you want to?" Dad doubted the instant I returned from the kitchen.

"I don't go out, it's a problem. Now I decide to, I'm being asked if am sure." I lamented rubbing my forehead in frustration.

"Just checking," Dad grumbled. "I hope you are not going to get high or drunk."

"Like I'm crazy enough to get drunk in that blazing sun," I told and referred to the window where the sun was streaking at full blast.

"You can never tell," Mom voiced out, her eyes filled with concern. "An emotionally unstable lady could do anything."

I laughed at this, "Hey, you guys didn't raise a stupid daughter. I agree I've been down lately, but I'm almost at the top, so help pull me out."

"Okay." Dad bobbed his head, "Even though I didn't understand what you said completely."

"Me too, so tell us where are you going?" Mom polled, a brow raised.

"To see Frank," I respond, my smile nervous.

"What- did- you- say?" Dad asked, a horrified expression overtaking his facial features.

"To- see- Frank," I replied in the same manner which earned me a 'tsk' sound from Mom.

"We know what you said." Dad scoffed, "We want to know what you meant."

"I want to get closure." I beamed.

"And what if you don't get the type of closure you expect?" Mom inquired, as she folded her arms in a bid to give me that serious Mom stare, that worked hence I could sense my resolve crumbling.

"I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there," I answered, making an effort to recover the courage I had lost.

"Now would you lovely parents excuse me, I need to shower." I gleamed at them and went climbing the stairs.

"Good luck!" They both called behind me, to which I replied with an "Appreciate it," in a thick French accent that had me chuckling afterward.

********

I had my bath and put on a nice outfit that consisted of an off-shoulder red top and a black midi skirt that hugged my thighs.

I was dressed to slay right? Well, I was going to see my Ex, so I needed to show him what he was missing. It hurt a bit though whenever I said that word (Ex)

"Time to seal the deal," I whispered to myself and snatched my phone from the vanity table. Unlocking it, I scrolled to where his name was and clicked on the call sign beside it.

As it rang, I set it to a loudspeaker and meandered to my floor-to-ceiling mirror where I applied some foundation and face powder.

"Hey Babe," I heard his deep voice rumble as he picked up.

"Hey stranger," I replied.

"What's up."

"I'm good, how you been coping?"

"So far so good." I shrugged, as I forgot he couldn't see me.

"Alright babe," He responded before continuing. "Not that I'm not glad you called, because I've missed your voice, but I know there's a reason for this, as a person wouldn't call someone who broke their heart just to have a chit-chat."

"Very accurate." I chuckled.

"Are you free? Hell, forget I asked, you have to be free or I'll screw you."

He snickered at this and said, "I wish I wasn't free, so I could give you the opportunity to screw me, thus I need you, but unfortunately for me." He sighed, "I'm free, so how can I be of service my lady?"

"Nothing much, just to hang. See you at Sweeties in thirty."

"Okay my lady, will be there.

Not to sound irritating but I totally miss you."

"I know boo." I grinned, "I do too, see you there." I hung up

That phone conversation was weird right? I know some of you were expecting shouts, curses, maybe a few tears.

Sorry to disappoint, but, nope it didn't happen, that's why we were good for each other because we understood ourselves and we were also matured to know that and I quote from Adelle's song, "sometimes it lasts in love, sometimes it hurts instead."

I didn't freak out when he said all those things about missing me and my voice. Not to talk of when I called him boo.

We were just cool like that, no bad vibes. Told you I'm a different specie.

Wait hold up, who am I even talking to, this isn't a story, right?
