Chapter 71: Chapter 71

Everyone was happy after our vacation. And I can see that it lifted everyone’s spirit as we came back to our work. It really helped us to refresh our mind and body so I was thinking of making it an annual tradition.

Our workload is also back to normal. We are not on a hectic schedule anymore so it is also normal that everyone is relaxing at their station.

Mikea was taking care of the fourth branch and other errands that needed to be done outside while I was taking care of the paperwork that Enver needed to sign.

We decided to switch jobs so she could learn more things about the industry and everything she needed to learn about Raiden. She said that it would help her grow more and become a more reliable secretary.

And it is not really a problem for me. Actually, it is more in favor of my side since if I file on leave, she can work even though she is alone. I don’t have to worry about her as she can handle her work as Enver’s secretary.

“You are filling a leave?” Mikea frowned after seeing what was on the screen of my laptop. “I thought you would not be using any of your leave for now?”

“I just need to take care of something.” It was just a three-day leave. I promised Enver that I would be staying at home and resting for a whole day. He saw how I worked hard these past few months and worried about the headache I felt when we were at the resort so he wanted me to rest.

He is happy that I am helping Raiden but he was constantly worried because there were times that I shouldered someone else’s job just because it was too much of a hassle to wait for them.

Then, the next day of my leave will be dedicated to Millie. Her school organized a family day event and it is required for both parents to attend.

The third day will be my time to meet Amethyst’s family to discuss the help that I will offer. As I said to my friends, I will only give them some ideas and I will not push myself too much.

“Well, you deserve a little more than three days, Milan,” Mikea said. “You were the reason why we got to finally breathe without worrying about our workloads.”

“Nah.” I shook my head. “Three days are enough for now. I can just extend it if I need to.” I sent the file to the HR Department though it was just for formality since Enver and I already talked about it. It is just for a record because I am now formally part of this company, not just Enver’s wife but also its employee so I had to follow the rules.

“I also start organizing the things that you need to do while I am not here,” I told her. “Though it is not that much since Enver is also planning to work from home within those three days. I will just send it to your email.”

She nodded. “Okay.”

I started working on that and sent it to her. Then I made some reminders on my table just in case there is a sudden appointment that needs to be scheduled.

In those three days, Enver forbade me to think and meddle with work and only focus on what I should be doing. So I don’t want to neglect anything before taking a leave.

After taking care of that, I went inside Enver’s office and I saw that he was also busy organizing the files that he needed to finish within this day. He was even frowning in front of his laptop while glancing at the paper on the side.

I knocked on the door to get his attention and I didn’t disappoint there.

He looked at me and smiled. “Done with your work?”

I nodded. I closed the door after entering the room. I took a chair, placed it beside him, and sat. “What about you?”

“This will be the last one for today.” He pointed at the folder in front of him. “Then, I am sorting some files in my computer to know what are the urgent ones so I can start with that tomorrow at home.”

“Oh, great.” I let him continue his work.

And after a while, he signed the last page of those papers and put it in the side of his drawer then looked at me. “So? You were thinking of something?”

I frowned. “How did you know?”

He chuckled and flicked my forehead. “You were too focused on me as if you were really waiting for me to finish what I am doing.”

I scratched my forehead and smiled. “Well, yeah. I was really thinking of something.”

“And what is it?”

I took a deep breath. “It has been months and it looks like your parents didn’t break their promise to you,” I said. “So, I was thinking of inviting them over for dinner in our house tomorrow so they will finally meet our daughter.”

He didn’t say anything. He just remained silent and just stared at me like he was waiting for me to continue.

“Hubby, I am serious about this,” I assured him. “Millie has been asking about your family since she knows about them. She was giving hints of wanting to meet her grandparents so I was thinking of giving them that chance.”

He leaned his back on his chair and messed up his hair. “Let me take a breath, Mi.” He took a deep breath again and again, making it look like what I said to him really shocked him. “I didn’t expect that you would be opening this topic. You were so against them meeting each other, right?”

I sighed. “It is not that I am against that, En,” I explained. “They have the right to meet her because they are her grandparents. I was just being cautious because I know your parents. They might do something to take our daughter so I had to make some arrangements first before making them let in our daughter’s life. Especially your father who always had a secret scheme to get what he wants.”

And this is about Millie.

She was the one who wanted to meet her grandparents and I don’t want to disappoint her in any way. Besides, she might be young but I believe that she already understands our situation.

I know that she can voice herself out if Enver’s parents try to lure or deceive her just to take her away from us.

“It was just one time for now,” I said. “We don’t have to rush everything. We can start introducing them, have dinner for a while and when both of them are comfortable, then we can give them some time alone. But, of course, with our supervision.”

They did what they promised. They stopped pestering us and waited for my decision. I am not that heartless to make them wait for a long time.

He sighed and looked at me. “Are you sure about that?”

I nodded. “I have been thinking about it for a while so I am really sure. And I am doing this for our daughter. I believe that she should know her relatives.”

I never met any of my relatives. My parents do have cousins but they never involved me in any of them for whatever their reason.

That is why I had to live on my own when they died. I only had help from my friends, well, not that it was a bad thing for me.

But I don’t want Millie to experience the same thing as I had before if she has the chance to meet other people who are part of her father’s family.

I might be thinking too much but I also want to ensure her future, just in case something bad happens to me and Enver. I want her to know that she will not be alone and that she doesn’t have to fight alone in life.

Especially when I know that those people also want to be part of her life.

Well, they can’t blame me for having these kinds of thoughts because of what happened to me and my parents.

He held my cheeks and put our forehead together. “If that is what you want, then I will support you.”

“Is it okay with you?” I asked. “You also have your own issue with them, right?”

He bit his lips and sighed again. “To be honest, I am not sure what to feel upon seeing them again. Especially when I parted ways with them in a not-so-good way. And the last time we saw Dad, we argued with him, right? So I am sure that it will be awkward.” After a while, he smiled and kissed my forehead. “But I think I can handle that. It is you that I am worrying about.”

I smiled and gave a kiss on his lips. “I won’t propose this idea if I can’t handle them,” I said. “Besides, as I said earlier, this is for Millie. I can keep up with your parents’ attitude if it will make our daughter happy.”

“Then, let’s schedule that tomorrow,” he said. “I will inform them about it.”
