Chapter 65: Chapter 65
Everyone settled into their room and since our event will be held later before dinner, we let them do what they want for their free time.
Enver and I, together with our friends, decided to stay in the front restaurant of the hotel not far from the seaside. We can see Millie and Reid from here happily playing around with the other kids there.
“We finally had time together.” Enver put his arms around my waist and pulled me towards him, then he put his chin on my shoulder. “We should have done this earlier.”
“We are too busy with our job these past months because of the good feedback we got since the partnership we had with Anox and the launch of our new payment method,” I said. “So this kind of leisure time only comes right on time.” I sighed. “I am just glad that we managed to do something to organize the arrival of our new client before the opening of the fourth branch of Raiden.”
Aside from sales associates, we also hired a lot of sales agents and we set up some displays in different malls to widen our market and attract more clients.
And because of that, we got a lot of people reaching out to invest in our company.
But Enver and I think that it is not the right time to accept new investors. Raiden doesn’t need to sell its shares because we got decent income after the new partnership we got. It also doesn’t need additional funds for the next project.
We can sustain everything from what we have as of now.
I guess we can still consider it if we still want to expand the range of the company.
“Though, I am sure that after the opening of the fourth branch, our workload will go back to normal so we just have to wait for more free time when we can file our leave.”
“I didn’t expect that as soon as we got back together, we would become this busy because of Raiden.” He sighed. “I have a lot of free time before but I carelessly used it in my work since I don’t have anything to do. But now that you are here, together with Millie, I can’t even find enough time to spend with the two of you.”
I laughed. “Well, we can’t get anything we want.”
“That is not true!” he exclaimed. “I managed to get you despite being unreachable.”
I frowned. “What ‘unreachable’ are you saying?”
“It is true.” He leaned in his chair and stared at me. “There are so many guys who wanted to court you when we were in college but they are all scared to approach you. They got intimidated by you since there was a rumor that you have a high standard when it comes to a guy you want to date.”
“Eh?”
He nodded. “In addition, your friends are so overprotective of you. They sometimes threaten everyone who dares to talk to you. Or sometimes, they also said that whoever will dare to ask you out needs to pass in their standard first.”
I pointed at him, holding my smile as I remembered our first encounter at the library in college. “But you manage to sneak behind their back.”
I am aware of what my friends did when we were in college and I am not really stopping them from doing that since I really need that kind of help. Because of that, I didn’t get any distractions in my study and I didn’t have to deal with annoying suitors.
“Well, they never really expected that we would meet at the library,” he said. “Despite being popular in our school, I never really paid attention to you before…” He added something in that sentence but he just whispered that. “If I didn’t go to the library that day and didn’t notice the magazine that you were holding, I guess we never met.”
Enver was also popular before. I often heard his name from my classmates who had a crush on him. But since I was too busy with studying, it never got my attention.
We also never got a chance to cross paths on the campus because he is from another department and I always stay in the library whenever I have free time.
That one day really changed everything in our life.
“There are also a lot of guys who managed to pass your friends’ standards and ask to date you but before they could even say anything, you immediately turned them down and asked them to stop trying to court you.”
I nodded as I remembered those times. “I am not interested in dating, and they are not really my type.” I am not someone who would waste time with people that I am not interested in, so I will always be frank with anyone who would ask to date me.
I also don’t want to waste other people’s time and I don’t want them to assume that they have a chance to me, if ever I agree to date them.
As far as I know, I was known for being a heartless princess in college because I rejected a lot of guys before they could even ask to court me.
“Back then, I was just amazed by you,” he added as we reminisced about our past. “You were so interested in cars and I happened to love teaching you about it. Then, I learned everything about you and got scared of telling you what I felt. I thought I would never get too close to you again if I confessed.”
“But in the end, you were still the first one to confess.”
He nodded and messed his hair to cover his blushing face.
This is the same reaction he had when he confessed to me before. He was so embarrassed, at the same time, scared but he tried his best to meet my eyes.
And I think the courage that he showed that time is the main reason why I decided to break my own rules and choose to face what I felt about him. I took a risk and gave him a chance to prove that he deserves a spot in my life as someone more than a friends.
“I was so scared at that time.” He held his chest. “I can’t see any emotion in your eyes at that time so I don’t really know what would happen. I thought you would reject me, just like what you did to other guys. I also thought that it would break our friendship.”
“But that doesn’t happen.”
“Yeah.”
We turned to Ferry and Lainz, who just got near us.
“That didn’t happen because you were so good at sneaking behind our back.” Ferry glared at Enver right after she sat in front of us. “Milan didn’t also mention anything about you being close back then. But if only we knew, I can assure you that Milan would never fall in love with you.”
Well, Ferry is right about that.
What happened to us is not love at first sight. My feelings for him only developed because we were always with each other and I saw that he treated me with sincerity.
“She was too busy with her studies before so we were shocked when she suddenly introduced you as her boyfriend,” Ferry added. “Though I can’t deny that what happened is actually a good thing.”
“Fate does really know how to play,” Lainz said.
I looked at him and raised my eyebrows. “What about you?”
He frowned and pointed at himself. “What about me?”
“When did you realize that you were in love with my best friend?”
His eyes widened while Ferry almost choked on her drink. “W-what the hell?”
“Am I wrong?” I smirked.
I want to laugh at this reaction. He doesn't know if he will deny what I just said or if he will admit it in front of Ferry. He kept looking at me and his wife who was blushing on the side and didn’t also know what to say or do.
Enver put his arms around my waist again. “Wifey, don’t tease him too much. They are both blushing.”
“Someone needs to push them so they would start acknowledging their own feelings,” I whispered and turned my eyes back to Lainz. “I have known you for almost eight years, Lainz. You are not someone who would agree to tie the knot just because of money and business. Well, not unless there are feelings involved.”
“Stop it, Milan,” he firmly said and gazed at Ferry. “This is none of your business.”
“Yes, it is,” I insisted. “Ferry is my best friend, right? I just want to know what you really feel about her since you married her.”
He glared at me. “You are enjoying this, don’t you?”
I can’t help but smirk at him. “I don’t know what you are talking about.”
I never got a chance to help my friends before so I decided to at least meddle with this kind of thing a little bit. I know Ferry is confused about what Lainz might feel about her and since she is a coward to ask, I need to push one of them to confess.
“Mi…” Ferry called me. “D-don’t push it, please?” She wants me to stop but it is clear in her eyes that she wants to know Lainz’s answer.
“Fine.” I turned to my husband. “Let’s leave these two alone here and go to Millie.” I stood up and pulled him towards the sea.
What I said earlier is enough for Lainz to start telling what he really feels for Ferry. This is enough for them to get clear on their feelings.
