Chapter 64: Chapter 64
We hired a lot of new sales associates and that helped us with the overwhelming amount of customers in the shop. And because of that, we finally had a space to breathe after handling a lot of workload these past few months.
To make up for everyone with the massive workload that we even required them to take overtime every day, we scheduled two-day and one-night company outings.
It was a sudden decision that is why we chose to hold our vacation in a nearby resort. It is within the city and Enver said that it was owned by one of his friends. He was the one who took care of our room reservation, together with the cottage and restaurants.
And I took care of the bus that everyone rides to the location.
Of course, this vacation is not only for our employees. We included everyone’s family to be with this vacation to make up for the busy schedule we had before.
“Yah!” Mikea shouted as we arrived at the resort. “I can finally have a day to relax.”
“Are you sure it is okay for us to be here?” Castiel asked. “This is a company outing, right?”
“Don’t worry about that, Cas. We didn’t include you in the company budget for this vacation,” I said while taking out our luggage. “I used our money for your expenses here. And I really want you to be here since I know that you are also too busy with your work these past months.”
Aside from Castiel, I also invited Ferry and Lainz. These three are too workaholic so this is a great opportunity for them to have some time to relax.
Caster and Ceru tend to sulk whenever I don’t include them in this kind of gathering so I also invited them.
And since Millie requested for Reid to be with us, I invited Rew who didn’t think twice but to accept it, despite his busy schedule. However, his wife didn’t come along because she was attending an important party.
“Mommy!” Millie shouted while wearing her swimsuit and lifebuoy. “Is it okay for me and Reid to go to the beach?”
“Can you wait a little bit, baby?” I asked. “I am still busy with our things.”
“I can come along with them,” Ferry said. “I am sure, you will not let me take my luggage so I will just be with these kids.” She tapped my shoulder and held Millie and Reid’s hands and they went to the beach.
The Raiden’s employees used the bus that I rented as their transportation here. It also arrived earlier than us and as far as I know, Enver took care of them and already got their rooms.
“But seriously? Why did you suddenly decide to have a company outing?” Ceru asked. “Is it because of Raiden’s full workload these past few months?”
I nodded. “Actually, I was thinking of having a vacation with Millie and Enver but I realized that the other employees also sacrificed a lot of time away from their family so they could work for Raiden. So, I included them with the plan,” I explained. “I feel like we are being unfair if we are the only ones who are having fun.”
“You are really good at your job, Mi.” Caster helped me take out the luggage in our van. “It will raise their morale in doing their job and it will also raise their loyalty to the company because you are showing them that they matter.”
That is one of the things that Ben taught me.
Every employee is important to the success of a company. That is why they also need to take care of them, just as how we take care of our customers.
“Anyway, Enver was already in the lobby of the hotel,” I said. “Please bring that over there. I will lock the van.”
The parking lot is kinda far from the hotel of the resort so we have to make two turns to get all of our things.
They nodded and took what they could get.
Then, I leaned in the car while waiting for them but after a while, I frowned as I saw Enver approaching me, together with Rew and Caster.
“Oh? Where are the others?”
“Our employees were being taken care of by the hotel staff,” Enver said. He took some of the luggage and after that, he put his arms on my shoulder. “Once we settle our things, please stop worrying about the others, okay?”
I frowned even more. “What?”
“As I said earlier, the hotel management will take care of everything for the whole day so please take the whole day to relax,” he said. “We went here to have some time off, not to work.”
I didn’t say anything. Well, he is right.
We are not here to work. We are here to relax but I still can’t help but make sure that everyone will settle down in their room comfortably since they are our employees.
Besides, once they got their room, I didn't have anything else to do since most of them bought their own food and we already reserved one of the restaurants just for us.
I sighed. “I am not working, okay,” I said. “I just want to make sure that everyone is comfortable before leaving them to the hotel staff.”
“Enver!”
A woman, petite, with fair white skin, and wavy brown hair, is waving at my husband. She is standing in front of the hotel wearing a floral dress and I can’t help but amaze with her beauty.
I was even more amazed when we got near her. She is way taller than me and she looks like a model in a high-class magazine.
“My staff told me that you are already here so I came to say hi,” she said. Then, her attention turned to me and she frowned when she saw Enver’s arm on my shoulder. “Ahm…” She gulped and turned her eyes back on my husband. “Who is she?”
“This is my wife,” Enver introduced me. “Milan Escuero-Andrius.” He turned to me and pointed to the woman. “She is Amethyst Koganei, the owner of this resort.”
I smiled and handed my hand in front of her. “Nice to meet you.”
There was hesitation in her eyes but in the end, she smiled and accepted my hand as she shook it. “I didn’t know Enver had a wife.”
I was the first one who let go of her hand and turned to Enver who was also looking at me. I want to ask who this woman is in his life but I can’t voice it out.
“I met her three years ago through a friend,” he said as if he read my mind. Then, he turned his eyes on Amethyst again. “We got separated five years ago so I didn’t have a chance to tell you about her.”
“Oh.” The woman just nodded. There was an awkward atmosphere around us, especially when she was acting like this. “Anyway, enjoy your stay here. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to tell my staff or you can call my office.” She waved her hand and immediately left.
“I didn’t know you were friends with a Koganei,” Rew said. “The public knows that they don’t like associating themselves with your family.”
“Yeah,” Enver said. “Her father and my mom had a history in the past. I don’t know the details but her mother made sure that both families will never have an interaction with each other. I was just excluded from that list because I already parted ways with my family so they never mind our friendship.”
“She likes you.”
His eyes widened and immediately looked at me. “W-what?”
“Don’t make that kind of reaction, Enver, as if you don’t know what that woman feels towards you.” I firmly said. “It is clear that she likes you.”
Rew and Caster immediately left, as if they sensed that they needed to give us some alone time with each other.
“It is not like that, Mi…” He scratched his head. “She was just a friend. And I never treated her far from being a friend for her to like me more than that.”
“Are you sure?” I narrowed my eyes in front of him. “You didn’t even try to seduce her?” I took off his arm on my shoulder and crossed my arms in my chest. “She is pretty. I bet there was one moment in your life when you thought of courting her.”
“Milan!”
I stared at him, without saying anything.
I know what I am saying is rude. I mean, can he blame me if I am being blinded by my jealousy, especially when I never knew that he had a woman friend?
He sighed and held my arms. “Please, it is really not like that,” he said. “She is just a friend, nothing more.”
I sighed and nodded. “I am sorry. I was just kidding when I said that.”
He pulled me towards him and gave me a tight hug. “You are worried?”
I nodded. “I am not really sure if she likes you more than a friend but I just want to see your reaction if ever,” I explained. “And I got jealous because I never knew that you had friends like that. And I was thinking that she might cause some trouble between us.”
“Please believe me that she is not like that,” he said. “It is not that I am defending her but she never did anything bad to me and she never did anything to cross the boundaries of our friendship.”
“So? She never tried to seduce you?” I lifted my face to look at him.
He shook his head. “She is just a friend, I promise.”
I believe what he just said. He might not tell me everything but he never lied to me.
But even with Enver’s words, I still can’t shake the feeling that Amethyst will bring some trouble to us. So, I guess I have to make sure that my guard is always up.
