Chapter 63: Chapter 63

“Mommy!” Millie greeted me with a hug as soon as she saw me outside her school. “What are you doing here?”

After my meeting with Engineer Lucas, I drove straight here to pick her up, just as I planned. “I promised to cook for you and Reid today, right? So I clocked out earlier today than usual.”

“Hello, Mrs. Andrius,” Reid greeted me with a smile.

I laughed. “You are still too formal, Reid. You can just call me Aunty, okay?”

His cheeks blushed and turned away his glance but nodded in response.

“Anyway, aside from picking the two of you up, I intended to meet Reid’s parents.”

They suddenly turned their heads on me and stared at me. There was a hint of worry in their eyes, then they looked at each other.

“What is it, kids?” I asked.

“Mom…” Millie held my hand. “Reid’s mother is very mean. Especially to the people she doesn’t like.”

“And you are saying that because?”

Reid sighed and looked at me. “My mom doesn’t want me to associate with people outside our circle. And since she met Millie before and learned that she came from a broken family, she doesn’t want me to be close to her.”

“I thought, everything was okay now?”

He shook his head. “She still doesn’t want me to be friends with her but she is always not around so I just do what I want.”

“That is not nice, Reid,” I said. “You are disobeying your mother.”

He sighed again. “I know that disobeying my mother is bad but she is not right either. I don’t want to tolerate her behavior just because I am a kid. Besides, she only does this because she thinks that I am putting dirt in our names.” He looked me straight in the eyes. “And I really want to be with Millie.”

“Oh.” I scratched my head.

Having these kinds of parents isn't really easy. Especially when the kids are growing up with a different personality than their parents.

In this situation, the kids always decide to disobey their parents because they have different views of right and wrong. And it is clear to me that Reid’s mother doesn’t give the attention that he wants from her.

I don’t like this kind of relationship with my daughter.

“If you are going to spend some time in our house, who in your household knows your whereabouts?” I asked. “Just in case they look for you?”

“My dad,” he answered. “I told him about Millie and you. And he will pick me up later.” He handed me a card. “That is my father’s card. You can talk to him.”

I took it and my eyes widened as I read the name on the card. “Your father is Rew Creat? The head of the city customs?”

He frowned. “You know my father?”

“Yes!” I answered. “We are also friends.” Though, I didn’t expect that he was also married. They didn’t tell me anything even though we met a couple of times since I got back. “Anyway, let’s go. I will just call your father later.”

I opened the back seat of the car and let them in. I made sure that they were wearing their seat belts, then I closed the door. I looked at Addy, Millie’s bodyguard, and signaled to him to just follow us, then I went inside the car.

It was nice to have two kids at the back of my car. It is refreshing to see and hear their conversation with only pure feelings.

And I can also see how Reid really cares about Millie. And the way he looks at her.

Oh god! I know that they are still kids but they are cute together. I can’t help but ship them together.

I just hope that their friendship will stay as they grow up.

I chuckled as I thought about Enver’s possible reaction if he witnessed this.

When we arrived at our house, our maids took care of Millie and Reid while I stayed in the garage longer. I took out my phone and dialed Rew’s number.

It didn’t take long as he answered his phone.

“Hello,” he greeted. “What is it, Milan?”

“Did you know that your son is my daughter?”

“What?” It is clear the shock in his voice. “Your daughter? Are you telling me that Millie is your daughter?”

Only a handful of people that connected in my past knew about Millie. Not that I am hiding her from them. I just don’t have the right opportunity to mention and introduce her to them.

“Yes, Millie is my daughter,” I said. “And I just learned that you were Reid’s father. It now makes sense why he looked like you.”

“Oh god!” I heard him breathe deeply. “I am sorry, Milan. I didn’t know that you are Millie’s mother. I should have stopped Diana from being mean to her.”

I frowned. “You know about it?”

“Yeah,” he answered. “Reid always told me about it. He sulked a lot because his mother kept meddling with his friendship with a girl he wanted to be friends with. I encouraged him to keep what he wanted but I never stopped Diana from meddling.”

“I didn’t know you had a wife.”

“We got married three months after you disappeared,” he said. “It was just an arranged marriage. Both of our parents just wanted us to have a kid, you know, just to ensure that we will have an heir to their business. We didn’t even love each other so I can’t really control her attitude. So, I am sorry that my wife is mean to your daughter.”

Well, if it was other people, I might throw some tantrums and make him beg for it but he is my friend. He didn’t forbid Reid to be friends with Millie even though he didn’t know that she is my daughter.

And Reid took care of Millie.

“It is okay, Rew,” I said. “We are also friends and your son has been good to Millie. We can forget what your wife did to my daughter since it is also not a big deal to her.”

“Okay. Thank you for understanding, Milan,” he added. “I will pick Reid up later.”

“See you later.” I ended the call and went inside the house. I saw Millie and Reid looking at me as if waiting for what I might say after talking to Rew.

I came to them and messed their head. “Just enjoy there, kids. I will cook something for you.”
