Chapter 60: Chapter 60

Andrius's clan finally stops bothering Enver. They did what they promised and never tried to call again. Just some text asking if we could at least send Millie’s photo from time to time so they will be updated on my daughter’s life.

I did send them some but that is all. I just give them some respect for being Millie’s grandparents.

But I made some arrangements to watch their moves since I know how they think. Even if they promise, I still can’t hold on to their words because they sometimes find a crack to twist it and take advantage of it.

I can really lower my guard against them.

They are too desperate to have a grandchild and I am sure that they are going to do everything they can to get what they want.

Especially now that Millie will start attending school. We can’t guard her all the time because we also have our job.

They might take advantage of that and visit her at her school.

So, just to be sure, we also decided to hire some bodyguards for her. And of course, I choose to get someone from Lainz’s agency to make sure that no one will be able to influence him and make sure to prioritize Millie’s safety.

And I added some maids for our house, aside from the one that Enver hired. I took Castiel's recommendation on this one because she knows a lot of trusted agencies.

“Don’t you think you are being a little too paranoid?” Ferry said as soon as she saw my newly hired maids. “You hired those people only for Millie.”

I sighed. “If you were in my shoes and have in-laws like those people in Andrius Clan, I am sure you will also choose to do everything you can to make sure that they will not have a chance to take away your child.”

“Yeah,” she answered. “I understand what you are trying to say but you are making everything too much. They already promised to wait for your own decision on when you are going to introduce them to Millie, right?”

“Yes, they promised,” I said. “But that doesn’t mean they will honor that.”

They promised a lot of things before to me but they ended up twisting their words and making it look like I forced them to make those promises.

So, they can’t really blame me for not trusting them and fully doubting them.

“Doing all of this will not hurt anyone, Ferry,” I said. “I am doing this for my family and Millie. My salary at Raiden can cover this kind of lifestyle.”

I am not a high-maintenance woman so I can use the income that I could get from my canteen to provide some of Millie’s needs.

And I am not alone in taking care of Millie. Enver is also with me and he will provide for our family. He will shoulder our bills, food, and the salary of the three bodyguards that he hired.

To be honest, he actually wants to shoulder everything. From our basic needs in our house, bills, food, Millie’s needs, her school, and even the salary of our staff in the house.

He said that it is the least he could do since I already bought a house for us.

But I still insisted.

Not that it bothers me but I want people to see that I went back to him because I love him, not because he has Raiden now. I want to prove to them that despite what happened to us in the past, we are still capable of fixing our marriage, without anything that involves money.

That is why I want to help him provide for our needs for as long as I can.

“You really tend to overthink everything.” She sighed. “To be honest, it is Enver’s responsibility to provide you with everything. He is capable of that, especially now that Raiden’s customers keep increasing as the days pass right after the public announcement of the permanent partnership with Anox.”

“He is capable but it will be better for our situation if I continue this,” I said. “No one can find a weakness in me and they cannot do anything to harm us.”

If I can help secure Millie with us and keep our family protected from anyone who tries to break us apart again, I will not stop doing this.

“Let’s change the topic, okay?” She knows she can’t do anything to change my mind regarding this. “What about you? Did you tell Lainz about your child?”

She nodded. “He was actually happy about having a kid and to be honest, I feel like we became close because of this.”

I smiled.

She is now genuinely smiling as she caresses her belly.

“See?” I said. “It is the right thing to tell him about the child. What if you choose to run away and hide that from him? It only hurts the both of you and worse, your child.”

“Yeah, you are right,” she agreed. “Though, he became strict on me and forbade me from joining care races on Arch Fend.” She pouted and sighed. “And he also put a lot of bodyguards to make sure that he will be aware of what I am doing every day. He also talked to Lancelot and filed an indefinite leave that I need because he also doesn't want me to work. He just wants me to stay in the house to take care of myself and our baby.”

And she has a lot of things to complain about in every Lainz’s decision into securing the best environment for her pregnancy. But to be honest, despite her complaints, I still can't help but smile while looking at her.

She may have opposed what Lainz was doing and was pissed about it but it can’t hide the happiness in her eyes.

And I know one thing as to why she is feeling like this.

“You…” She stopped talking and frowned at me. “...are in love.”

She didn’t say anything. She just stared at me for a while and as what I said finally sank in her mind, her eyes slowly widened. After that, her face turned red and immediately covered it up with her hands.

“W-what? Of course, not!” she shouted. “Y-yes, he is my husband. B-but… but I am not in love with him. I only marry him because it is what my dad wants and to save Freya from having a loveless marriage. I am not… I am not in love with him!”

I shook my head and laughed. “Seriously?”

She opened a little gap in between her fingers to look at me. “Why are you laughing there, Milan?”

“I feel like you are not saying those words to convince me, Ferry,” I said. “You are saying those words to yourself. To convince yourself that what you are feeling right now is not love. But let’s just be honest here and accept the truth. You are really in love with him.”

“No!”

I shook my head again. “Don’t deny it. It is written all over your face.”

She once again covered her face but this time, she used the pillow. “I am not!”

I know that this is not really easy for her. I mean, she never really felt something like this ever since I met her. This is new to her and I can understand that it shocked her.

She is not familiar with this feeling so she couldn’t stop it.

Though, there is nothing wrong with them falling in love with each other. They are already married. And this is going to be good for their relationship, especially now that they are expecting a child.

Besides, I know Lainz. Even though he didn’t have the same feelings as Ferry, he will still does his responsibility as Ferry’s husband and a father to their child.

But to be honest, I am praying that they feel the same for each other. In this case, their relationship will become easy for them.

She took a deep breath and took the pillow off her face. Her face is still blushing and she still can't look at me.

“There is nothing wrong with that, Ferry,” I assured her. “You are already married so you should expect this to happen.”

She sighed. “Even though we were married, I still can't expect that I would fall in love with him,” she said. “Yes, he is a responsible husband and takes care of me. But we had this agreement that we will not meddle with each other, especially if we fell in love with someone else.”

“Oh.”

She held her chest. “I guess that is the reason why I am pissed whenever I see him together with his secretary and they are so close,” she said. “I got to the point when I felt envious of their closeness and even prayed that I was in that woman’s position just for me to see Lainz’s other side.”

Oh, man! I didn’t expect that her love for him was already that deep.

Then, I guess I was right when I felt that she had a problem but she just pretended to be okay to avoid making me worry.

I scratched my head and came to her. I hugged her from behind and put my chin on her shoulder. “I know it is not really easy for you but always remember that I am always on your side, okay?”

They have done a lot of things for me ever since we met and staying beside them, making them feel that they are not alone is the only thing I can do for them.

“I may not be able to help you solve your problem since I was too busy with my own but you are not alone, okay?” I said. “Though, please let me help you now.”

“Milan…”

“But first, why don’t you ask him what he really feels about you?”

She frowned. “Huh?

“I already told you, it is not good if you will just assume something that you don’t confirm so it is better if you just ask him directly to clear this misunderstanding,” I explained. “At least, you will hear it directly from him and you can immediately decide what to do next.”

I know that she is not the type of woman who will force her feelings on someone who doesn’t want to accept her. And she needs to know her position in Lainz’s life to help her sort out her feelings.

She sighed. “Well, I guess I don’t really have any choice.”
