Chapter 59: Chapter 59

“Are you aware that Ferry was already married?” I asked Enver as soon as he arrived together with Millie.

“Yeah.” He took the luggage out of his car and brought it inside the house. “His husband is one of my father’s investors. So I heard the news about their marriage even though your friend was avoiding me.”

“Is he a good person?” I was just following him since he was busy with my luggage. “Is he taking good care of Ferry?”

“You know him, Milan.” He stood straight and held my arm. “Ferry didn’t tell you who she married?”

I shook my head. “She just told me that she was already married and it is an arranged marriage. But she didn’t tell me who her husband is.”

He sighed. “They should have told you about this but I guess they don’t really want you to worry about them when you still have things to work out.”

“So? Who is her husband?”

“It was Lainz.”

My eyes widened. “W-what?”

He sighed again. “Your detective friend is Ferry’s husband,” he said. “They are in the security industry, right? And Aside from the investment and the investigation office that Lainz handled, he also has a security agency that provides elite bodyguards.”

I am aware of that.

But Lainz is not really hands-on with that company. As far as I know, he let his brother take care of that since he really wants to work in the field, gathering information personally about the cases that they accept.

While Ferry’s family firms are providing guards in different high-end subdivisions around the country. They are the most trusted firms which is why the realty developers always come to them for their service.

“As far as I know, they had an issue with their employees in the firm which is why a lot of their clients planned to terminate their service. The only thing that stopped that and took back their credibility as one of the trusted security agencies is when it was merged with Lainz’s company.”

“They didn’t say anything to me.”

“Well, they don’t really want people to know about their relationship,” he said. “You know that Lainz is too private with his life, while your friend is too famous. They don’t want to affect each other’s life because of their own jobs. And as you know about those people, they don’t want you to worry about them when you are still dealing with your problem.”

Well, he is right.”

It is not really obvious that they are married. And I understand why they want to keep it that way.

Lainz always wanted to be in the background. Protecting people around his life in the dark. He never really wanted to be in the spotlight because, for him, he can move the way he wants if no one really knows him.

While Ferry is his exact opposite.

She loves being in the spotlight, especially when it has something to do with the things she loves to do. She is one of the famous models around the country and of course, one of the elite car racers at Arch Fend. And most of the cars that she endorsed were part of the high-end collections of different brands.

She also became the face of Anox for years.

“Mommy…” I was interrupted when Millie went to me. “Reid wants to visit here. Is it okay with you?”

The part where Millie and her friends play is not far from here.

It actually covers a lot of subdivisions around and as far as I know, there are a lot of kids from this subdivision who also come and play there.

“Of course, baby,” I said. “When are they going to visit?”

“Tomorrow after school,” she answered. “But Daddy said boys are not allowed here.”

I looked at Enver who was frowning right now. I think he still hasn't moved on when Millie said that she has a lot of boyfriends. That is why he is being strict here.

I turned my eyes back to Millie and smiled. “Don’t mind your dad. They can visit here, as long as we are here.”

Her eyes lightened up and smiled. “Really?”

I nodded. “Yes, baby. I will prepare your favorite snack.”

“Yehey!” She jumped in happiness. “I will tell them, Mommy.” She ran and grabbed her cell phone to call her friends.

Enver stood beside me as we stared at Millie. “Don’t you think she is still young to have a cell phone?”

“I gave her that phone so she could contact me anytime she wants,” I said. “I was busy at the canteen before so I couldn’t give her all of my attention so it is the only thing that connects us.”

“Kids her age don't even know how to use a phone, yet here she is.” He sighed. “It is still not right in my eyes to see her as if she was gossiping with her friends whenever she is busy with her phone.” He rubbed her forehead and I couldn't help but laugh because he looked like a problematic old man. “God! She was just five years old.”

“You should blame your genes, then,” I said. “That actually made her mature faster than her actual age.”

He sighed in defeat and sat on the sofa. “Sometimes, I can’t help but imagine that they only talk about boys.”

I just shook my head.

He really tends to overthink things when it comes to Millie. Well, I can understand him with that since he is still not used to our daughter’s personality. That is why every time Millie acted older than her age, he was always shocked.

Well, he doesn’t really need to worry about that.

Millie may be mature despite her young age but that doesn’t mean we will let her do everything she wants. We still need to guide her but we also need to make sure that we will not try to control her, that is the last thing that I will do to her.

I am going to let her grow up the way she wants but we have to make sure that her decision will not destroy her future.

I want to raise Millie the same way my parents raised me.

“Anyway, Lancelot called earlier,” he said, changing our topic. “They want to propose another project to us. One of his partners became interested in the deal we had with Anox. So, please set up a meeting to discuss it with them.”

I gave him an ‘okay’ sign as a response. “I will set it first once we get back to work.”

Taking care of our new home will soon be over. After this, we will get back to work while Millie will start attending school.

And to help me take care of everything around the house, we decided to hire one maid and two men that will guard our house’s gate.

Enver and I will not be able to cover everything and this is the only choice we have if I keep working at Raiden.

I let Enver choose to provide for the people and he chose the people close to him that work in his family before.

Well, it is not a problem for me. In fact, it is wiser since he already knows those people and he knows we can trust them, especially when picking Millie up and accompanying her while we are still at work.

His phone on the table caught my attention when it rang and I couldn't help but sigh when I saw the name of the caller.

I am expecting this from his family but I still can’t believe that they have the guts to ask for them to see Millie after what they did to me.

“Hey…” I called Enver and pointed at his phone. “Why don’t you answer this one so they would stop bothering us?”

“Just let them be,” he said. “They will get tired soon.”

“It has been two weeks since they learned about Millie and they didn’t even get tired of trying to reach you.” I took his phone and handed it to him. “Answer it, En. Their call might block some important calls from your clients.”

He grimaced as he took his phone. “They will just pester me to introduce them to our daughter.” He scratched his head as he stared at the screen of his phone. “And I am actually afraid of letting them in our daughter’s life. That is why I am thinking that it is better to ignore them. They might get a wrong idea if I entertain their call.”

“Then, tell them an absolute no and threaten them with a restraining order if they try to do something funny to my daughter,” I firmly said. “I do want Millie to know them since they are still her relatives but not now. They should fix their life first before entering our daughter’s life.”

I will not take that right to Enver’s family. His parents are still Millie’s grandparents. I want her to get along with them because that is something that I didn’t have.

But I want to make sure that they will not take away my daughter from me and that they will not try to control her, just like what they did to their children’s life.

If I see that they are sincere in loving Millie and taking care of her with absolute love without any hidden agenda, I might agree on giving them long hours to be with her.

Enver sighed and finally answered his phone. I think he didn’t let the caller say anything and immediately told them everything that I just said. And after a long pause, he ended the call and looked at me.

“They promised to stop bothering me,” he said. “They will also stop forcing us to meet Millie, so they beg us not to file a restraining order against them. They will just wait for you to decide when you are going to introduce them and let them in our daughter’s life.”

I felt relieved after hearing that.

They have been giving us a headache because they keep insisting on meeting Millie but now that they finally give up, we can slowly relax ourselves.

We can now focus on other things in our life.
