Chapter 50: Chapter 50

Enver told me everything. And one thing is clear to me now.

What happened in the past is part of his father’s plan to make sure that he will be able to control Enver’s life and take me out of their lives.

He was the one who used the woman that drugged Enver, had sex with him when he was unconscious, and took a picture of them naked.

And apparently, that woman is head-over-heels with Enver and will do everything she can to make him hers. Their parents wished for them to be together when they were still young but that didn’t happen because Enver met and married me.

So, they did something to slowly ruin us.

Enver’s father intentionally assigned him to the main branch of their company to take him away from me in the hope that it will lessen our love for each other. They even try to ruin his trust in me and said that I might be cheating on him when he was away but thanks to Dashiel who is always looking out for me, they never succeed in that.

And their last resort is the one that really put our relationship to an end.

His father intentionally organized that party for their plan. They agreed on drugging Enver but it was the woman who took advantage of him being unconscious and had sex with him. She even recorded everything and took pictures of them naked.

And those files were the ones they used to blackmail Enver. So that they will be able to control him and make him do everything they want.

But they didn’t succeed in that.

Enver refused to obey them and looked for other ways to solve the problem without me getting involved especially my job.

In exchange for that, the pressure was placed on his shoulder. And he reaches the help of alcohol to at least lessen the time when he needs to think about the problem.

And he was too scared to tell me what was happening back then because he thought that I might not understand the situation and choose to leave him. So, he kept everything to himself.

But those decisions ruined our relationship.

We let ourselves be consumed by our fear instead of trusting each other and choose to talk about it and solve it together.

And because of that, those people succeed in what they wanted to happen. We were the ones who gave that success.

“Please stop crying,” Enver said. We are now laying down in our bed while hugging each other. “Everything has already happened and we can’t bring it back anymore. Let’s just focus on what we have right now and make up for all our mistakes.” He held my chin up and kissed my lips. “As I said, I want us to be together again.”

“You sure?”

He nodded. “I know that we wasted five years of our lives apart from each other because of that mistake. But I just want to look for the good things that happened because of it, rather than the bad things.”

“What is good about being apart from you?”

“We learned how to grow up,” he answered. “I was in my father’s control even after I met you but after I lost you, I learned to fight back and started to choose what I want for my life. And I would never be able to realize it if you were with me because I might think that starting over without my family’s support would only burden you. You will shoulder the responsibility of providing for the both of us because I was too busy chasing my dream and I don’t want that. It should be my responsibility to take care of you, not the other way around.”

“Well, I learned how to value myself and realized that I don’t need to please anyone if it means destroying myself just for them to like me,” I responded. “It is not right for me to change myself just to fit in for the people who would never accept me for who I really am. I learned how to love myself and prioritized my own feelings rather than anymore.” Except, of course, if it involves Millie.

“See?” he said. “We learned something good about it.”

I nodded. “I also got more friends aside from Ferry and Castiel.”

“And I learned who was the only true friend that I had,” he added. “I learned how to cook. I even made an effort to spend some time cleaning our home. One thing that I never really cared about before because I always thought that you were here to do those kinds of things.”

“I also learned how hard it is to run a business,” I said. “My business is not that big but now, I finally realized that running a big company really stresses the person in charge, especially when your secretary is not that good enough to help you.”

“And I manage to build Raiden because I don’t have to worry about anything,” he continued. “You might be away from me but I am sure that you were safe and no one in my family, friends, and enemies would bother you while I am fighting them.”

Yeah, there are a lot of things that came up well in those five years. The reason for our break up might not be good but it still helps us solve a lot of issues that we have for ourselves.

It became a lesson for us and turned us into a much better version of ourselves.

He got up and sat in the bed, then helped me get up. “Yes, we might split because of a painful reason and it hurts both of us when we were apart from each other for those five years because of the people who wanted to hurt us but that was all in the past. We just have to live with it and make it a lesson so it will not happen again.”

I breathe deeply.

Well, none of it is his fault. And it would only make things complicated if I refuse to do what my heart says. I love him and I want to be with him again. Together with our daughter, Millie.

“Why didn’t you get mad at me?” I asked. “I mean, you clearly know that it is not your fault but I made it look like you were so bad because you hurt me.”

He smiled. “I will never get mad at you, my lovely wife.” He held my hand. “You were just hurt that time. And to be honest, I would rather choose to face your anger and run away from me instead of you staying with me and pretending like you don’t know anything about the so-called affair.”

I frowned. “And why is that?”

“Well, you were hurt by what you just saw because you love me,” he explained. “It was a normal reaction for someone who gave her full trust to her partner, yet she got cheated on.”

“Then, what if I didn’t leave and pretend that everything's okay?”

“I will be scared because that might be the time that I would really lose you,” he said. “That would be the start and every time I make mistakes, you will bottle it up until you can take it anymore and explode. And by the time I realized that you knew about the affair, it was already too late because you had already moved on from me.”

“Oh.” I nodded. “That is what most women do when they want to give the person they love a second chance. They would pretend that nothing was wrong but they were observing. And every time they got hurt, their feelings for their partner were slowly fading away until it was too late for it to restore.”

“And I thank you for choosing to let go for a while instead of giving me a second chance immediately.” He touched his forehead to mine. “You didn’t let us become toxic people in our relationship. And because of that, we can now start over. I want us to be together again.”

“But we were already divorced, right?”

He frowned. “Is that what Ferry said to you?”

I nodded. “I filed for divorce months after I ran away. And she was the one who took care of everything. She said that everything will be finalized soon but I didn’t follow up on it after and just trusted her.”

“What the hell?” He took his phone and immediately dialed Ferry’s number.

“What do you need?” Ferry said as she answered the call.

“You told Milan that we were divorced?” Enver exclaimed. I held his hand and pulled him beside me to at least calm him down.

“What? No! Of course not, you idiot!” Ferry immediately said. “I only told her that I will take care of the divorce papers and file it.”

Enver looked at me.

“You filed the case, right?” I said. “And you finalized it.”

“Oh, you were together, huh,” She said. “And yes, I did say that but I never said to you that the case got into the court.”

Nanlaki ang mga mata ko. “W-what?”

“You just assume that since you never follow up about the result,” she explained. “And I didn’t bother to tell you because I know that you will never enter another relationship again, let alone marry someone else, besides Enver.”

“Then, what did you do?”

“I tried to file the papers but someone pulled it out,” she answered. “I don’t know how that might be…” I heard someone gasp around her. “But all in all, I guess it is for the best. You are still the one and only wife of Enver Andrius.”

I looked at Enver.

“Anyway, we are both bothering each other so I am gonna drop this call,” Ferry said. “Just tell me everything over coffee, okay?” She didn’t wait for me to answer and just ended the call.

“All those years, I really thought that our marriage was already null and we got divorced,” I said. “What if you were all wrong and I have plans on marrying someone else?”

“That might help me find you earlier than we expect and of course, I will stop that plan of yours.” He placed his palm in front of me and I saw my wedding ring on it. I left it here when I ran away. “It is still yours, Mi. Would you still be willing to wear it after what happened between us? Or do you really want to be out of this marriage?”

I slightly laughed because of his question. “Seriously, Mr. Andrius? After what we did here earlier, you still asked me that question?” I gave him my hand. “Now that everything is clear, I don’t think I will let what happened before ruin us again. So, yes. I am willing to wear it again.”

He smiled and put the ring on my finger. “I will not let you get away from me again. And I promise you, I will not let anyone ruin us again.” He hugged me. “If I have to fight everyone just to keep us together, I will do it. Whoever they are.”
