Chapter 43: Chapter 43

I was just sitting in front of my table as I stared at the elevator while waiting for Enver to arrive. He still hasn't messaged me anything since he left earlier and I am freaking nervous now that it is almost five in the afternoon.

I still don’t have any idea what is happening at the store right now and I need to know that before I make a decision about the deal that Karyu offered to me.

The deal we have to get the permanent partnership with Anox is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Raiden. If we fail this time to secure it, Raiden will face a great loss and it will never be able to recover from it.

And one of its consequences is Raiden will not be able to get a permanent partnership with another car manufacturer again.

That is why I am considering taking this deal.

If leaving Enver’s life is the only thing that I can do to save Raiden from its possible great downfall, then I guess I don’t really have any choice but to do it.

Raiden has become his life. He built it as soon as he managed to break off his father’s control over him. This is proof that he can make something without the help and influence of his father.

He worked so hard for this company. And Raiden showed him what he can do to the people around him.

That is why I don’t want this to get destroyed just because of some petty revenge.

I can’t let anyone ruin what Enver worked so hard for.

I immediately stood up when the elevator opened and I felt relief as I saw Enver was the one on it.

I came to him but I was kinda confused because he is not showing any emotions. And that made me feel even more nervous.

“W-what happened? Did you solve the situation regarding the clients that have been backing out from their application?”

He sighed. “Let’s go to my office.”

I felt my hands sweating because of this suspenseful answer. But I still followed him all the way to his office.

When we got inside, he immediately closed the door and locked it. Then, he turned to me and a smile slowly formed on his lips. “I secured the last client.”

My eyes widened. “W-what?”

He pulled me and we sat on the sofa. “The last person on our list that applied for the high-end Anox car using the installment method, we already finalized her application.”

“R-really?” I mean, I didn’t really expect that I would hear it now.

He nodded. “She already gave her a down payment and we only have to deliver her car to her house tomorrow morning.”

“Oh god!” I don’t know what to say.

I did trust him on fixing this issue but I never really thought that he would be able to convince the last client that we want within this day.

I never thought that he finally finished the deal we had with Anox as of today.

“If that is the case, why are you not even showing emotion when you get here?” I asked. “I was so nervous earlier when I saw you. I thought you are giving me the bad news that will put our agreement with Anox in a dangerous situation.”

He scratched his head. “Sorry about that. But you know that if there is good news, there is always bad news.”

I frowned. “What do you mean?”

“One of the clients that backed out on his application went to the shop earlier,” he said. “He said that he thought about having an Anox car carefully, as well as the consequence of it and he come to one conclusion.”

“What is it?”

“He wants to apply again and this time, he assured us that he will not back out again,” he added. “In fact, he already put his down payment as insurance that he will take the car if we find him suitable for our product.”

“And that is good news, right?”

He nodded. “Yeah, it is good news,” he said. “But the bad news is that he recognized one of our employees and said that he is the one who talked him into backing out from his application. He scared the hell out of him so he didn’t have a chance to think it through and just canceled his first application.”

“That is also good news, right?” I said. “I mean, we already know who is sabotaging our project and with that, we will be able to continue it.”

“It was Art, Milan.”

My eyes widened. “W-what?”

He sighed. “He is the one who is talking to our client and scares them so they will back out from their application,” he said. “And he already confessed to me.”

Oh shit!

I am aware that Karyu has a spy here since he knows a lot of things about Enver. He even knows about the picture frame at Enver’s table that he has never seen before.

But I never suspected that it was Art because I saw how he worked so hard just for this project to become successful.

Or maybe that is what he wants us to think so we will never suspect him.

He knows how I work so he probably thinks of doing their plan right before the duration of the deal ends so we will not get enough time to fix that.

“He is now at the police precinct,” he said. “Legal team is starting to build a case against him. And aside from that, he also told me the name of his accomplice.”

“Karyu Flynn.”

He nodded. “The man that came here and made a deal with you.” He took something under the table in front of me and showed it to me.

“Listening device?”

“I am protecting Raiden, Milan,” he said. “And putting it here makes me know if someone is here when I am gone. So it is not my intention to hear what the two of you were talking about earlier.”

“I…” I don’t know what to say. Well, this is his office so I can’t really argue with him about that device.

“You are planning to take that deal, right?” he asked. “You will leave the Raiden and you will hide from me again.”

I breathed deeply.

Well, he already heard everything so I can’t really deny it.

“Okay, let’s just be honest.” I breathed deeply again. “Right after I talked to Ferry and Castiel last week, I decided not to hide anymore. I mean, there is no reason for me to hide from you, right? I don’t want to put our friends in a not-so-comfortable situation again.”

“But you changed your mind,” he said. “Again.”

“I still haven’t given my decision to him,” I said and pointed at my watch. “I still have five minutes to decide whether to take that damn deal or not. But I am not lying to you by saying that I planned to accept that deal.”

“Milan…”

“Raiden is important to you, Enver,” I said. “This is the first thing that you build right after you get away from your father’s control. So, do you really think I will let anyone ruin the one thing that you worked so hard for?”

I was already accepting the fact that we cannot be together anymore. Because whenever we try to be with each other’s lives, there is someone who always comes in between us.

And I thought, maybe we are only meant to suffer if we stay together.

“Well, that is what I am thinking while waiting for you.” I smiled. “But because of the good news that you told me earlier, I guess I have to take this risk. I just hope you will not blame me if things get out of hand and Raiden suffers the consequence of my decision.”

I am tired of letting people decide what I should do in my life with Enver. I am tired of their non-stop meddling with our relationship.

If Enver is indeed in love with me until now, well, I guess I have to believe in that. And do something about our situation.

For Millie’s sake. For the whole family that she deserves.

I took my phone out and sent a message to Lainze about something related to Karyu and looked at Enver. “We have a lot of things to do so let’s go.”
