Chapter 40: Chapter 40
“Good morning!” Art happily greeted me as soon as I got into our office.
I smiled at him and that actually shocked him.
“Woah,” he said. “I guess you woke up on the right side of the bed.”
I put my things on the table and looked at him. “Well, I had a great time last night.”
Ferry and Castiel got totally drunk last night. And as I planned, I managed to avoid getting drunk like them. I just stick to drinking two glasses of wine, juice, and lots of food.
While my two friends decided to get wasted. They even added another batch of alcohol as soon as their first order finished. And as a result of that, they couldn’t even walk on their own when I invited them to get home.
They even gave me trouble on whether I would bring them to their home but in the end, I chose to just bring them to my house. It is already late and I am sure Millie is waiting for me to get home.
So, I just let them sleep in my room while Millie and I slept in my living area.
And to pay for all the trouble they caused me last night, I told them to accompany Millie for the whole day since my daughter also missed them so much.
“Then, it only means that Sir Enver letting you go home yesterday is the right decision,” Art said. “Your aura has changed from what it is these past few days. It looks like everything in your life has been cleared and you manage to find a solution to the things that you have been thinking about.”
“Really?”
He nodded. “I don’t know what happened to you these past few days but I am glad you managed to get better.”
I smiled at him. “Well, I have such great friends that help me overcome my problems.” I took out my laptop and turned it on. “Anyway, let’s start—”
“Milan!”
I was startled when Enver screamed my name and suddenly opened the door of his office. I slowly looked at him. “S-Sir?”
He immediately came to me. He was about to say anything as soon as he stood in front of me but he didn’t do it and just stared at me.
I was confused by the way he acted. “Sir?” I called him. “Is there a problem?”
He sighed as if he was relieved of something. “Nothing,” he said. “I think it was just a misunderstanding.”
I frowned. “Huh?”
He shook his head. “I am just glad that you are okay.” And before I could even say anything, he immediately ran into his office.
That is when Art moved his chair beside me. “Tell me honestly, Milan.”
I looked at him.
“How close are you to Sir Enver?” He showed me his hand and pointed to his little finger and thumb. “When you first arrived here, you two seemed too distant from each other like this. But now…” He wrapped his middle finger into his index finger. “...you look like this close.”
I faced him and looked at him seriously. “Are you going to believe me if I say to you that Sir Enver is my husband?”
He was stunned for a while, then he laughed so hard while slightly hitting my arm. “If you are his wife, then I am his lover.”
I just let him laugh and stayed as serious as possible.
Until he noticed that I am not laughing with him. He slowly stopped as his eyes widened. “I-is that really serious? You are not kidding me?”
I pointed at the office’s door. “You can ask him if you like,” I said. “I am sure he will not deny that.” I was about to start my work when Art suddenly stood up and before I could even react, he was already running towards Enver’s office.
He didn’t even knock. He just opened the door and entered.
And here I am, shocked by his sudden move because I didn’t expect him to ask Enver.
I immediately stood up and followed him to at least stop him but when I entered the office, he was now standing beside Enver while holding a picture frame.
Art looked at me with shock. “You are really Mrs. Andrius.” He faced the frame to me and I came to him to see it properly.
Enver even tried to snatch the frame but Art immediately run away from him and showed me the picture that was on the frame.
As far as I remember, Enver always put that picture frame on whenever I entered his office. I was thinking that maybe that is the picture of someone important to him that he didn’t want me to know.
I never really think even for a second that I will see my pictures on his desk because he never really did even though we are still together.
So, I don’t know what to say now that I am seeing that it was my picture that has been on Enver’s table.
And that picture was personally taken by him using just a simple cell phone camera. It was taken the very same day that he proposed to me.
I slowly turned to Enver who immediately avoided my gaze.
I wanted to ask him about the picture but then I stopped myself. I took the frame from Art and put it on his table again, which made him look at me again.
“I won’t ask anything,” I said. “Well, for now. We still need to focus on our project for your company and digging up into our past will only distract us.”
“Milan…”
I smiled at him. “I already told you before that we will talk about everything at the right time, right?” I said and he nodded. “After this project, I will give you time to explain your side. And let’s talk about what happened five years ago.”
I didn’t give him the chance to reply and just pulled Art outside his office.
“Can you explain that to me, Milan?” Art said. “You are Mrs. Andrius, right? The long-lost wife of Sir Enver who just suddenly vanished.”
I sighed. I guess I can’t really hide it from Art after what I just said to Enver in front of him. “Yup,” I said. “I am his wife. But that was only before.
He frowned. “What?”
“I already filed for divorce three months after I left our house,” I explained. “So, I am no longer Mrs. Andrius.”
“But…” He was about to say something but then he just shook his head. “Oh. Now it makes sense why you and Sir Enver were too shocked to see each other the first time you arrived here.” He sat beside me. “But in fairness. The two of you are good pretending that you didn’t know each other. It is not really that obvious that you two were married.”
“Really?”
“Ah,” he suddenly replied. “Not until the moment when Sir Enver suddenly hugged you and a lot of employees here saw that. That is when people spread rumors around you. They even said that you got Mikea’s position because you are Sir Enver’s secret lover and it is now secured to stay as yours.”
I laughed at what he said. “Seriously?” You really like gossip, huh,” I said. “Before, people here spread rumors that Mikea only used her beauty to become Enver’s secretary, and now, this?”
“I don’t know about their rumors about Mikea but this one about you, well, you can’t really blame us,” he said. “We all see Sir Enver hug you. And besides, gossip is life when people are at work. It is one of the reasons why employees are eager to go to work.”
I can’t argue with that.
Even at my previous work, employees are eager to go to work just to hear some gossip about everyone around them.
“Anyway, don’t spread anything about Enver and me, okay?” I said. “Though, you can do that once I leave here.”
That is when he felt sad. “Oh. You will leave once Mikea comes back.”
I nodded. “That is what we all agreed on.” I messed up his hair.
Even though I only got here for a short time, we became close. We help each other in everything to help Enver in managing his company. We encounter a lot of problems together and we also solve that together.
So, I will really miss him once I leave.
“Visit me when you have free time, okay?”
After what I talked about with Ferry and Castiel last night, I decided to face my problem so I will not run away anymore.
And it only means that I am also ready to give my friends the time that they deserve.
I smiled. “Sure,” I said. “We can hang out sometimes.”
