Chapter 19

~ Maira’s POV ~

“Elder Maira, are you telling me that Elder Selene asked you to round us all up for help against a possible war that was started years ago by Queen Isralia’s sister?” looking down at me from the throne hovering questionably.

“With all due respect Elder Rani… yes.” standing unthreatening in front of the oldest of the dragon shifters. “As you know, after the King and Queen were slaughtered by her, the twins were taken.” pausing as she waited for her to respond to the memory only to see questions in her eyes.

“I thought there was only one child from the Royal family? There were two?” Sitting straighter and more forward on her throne in disbelief.

“Yes. There were two. One was thought to have been killed… however… that does not seem to be the case as she made her way to see Elder Selene not too long ago.”

“And… where is this so-called lost Royal child now?” still not completely believing what is being said to her.

“She is mated to Alpha Johnathon Wallace of the Graves Pack.” whispers were heard from within the throne room amongst those within.

“You are telling me that she is mated to the most feared and ruthless Alpha of the werewolves?!” standing up from her seated position. “Well, this young Royal must be something to have been chosen to be mated to him after what happened to his first mate.” chuckling lightly at her own comment clapping her hands together.

“Yes she is. She has been marked with the elemental power of water… and… her twin boys also have been marked as well with what we believe are with earth and air.” With my hands behind my back I started pacing in small circles while deciding how to choose my next words.

“Queen Shamira has taken notice of her once her gift awoke and is now threatening the balance of things.” stopping to look straight at her once again.

“So this is why you are here then? To gain our alliance once more to help keep the balance in order I presume?” gently sitting back down on her throne.

“Yes Elder Rani, that would be correct. Timber, the lost Royal mated to the notorious Alpha Johnathon Wallace, has also been granted the presence of the elemental stone.” another wave of gasps were heard from all corners of the room.

“Well then… this changes the dynamics of things now does it not?” drumming her fingers on the arm rest next to her, thinking intently.

“Hmmm… well. The Dragon Shifters will be more than willing to help in this battle as a friendly. Just let me know when and we will be ready. But remember! We are only there to help keep the balance. Once they have won, we are free from pending intruders and allowed to stay hidden from all outsiders once again. We will not be put on anyone’s beck and call” stating with a rather unamused tone.

“Agreed. We thank you for your assistance… again, Dragon Shifter Elder Rani.” bowing my head in respect she waved her hand in circular motions while I saw myself out.

‘Selene?’ sending a link to my sister for an update.

‘Yes Maira. How is everything going? Are the other Elders agreeing to help?’

‘I am now leaving the Dragon Shifters, and they are willing and ready as well as the Faes and Fairies.’ fixing my gloves and coat. ‘I will see you shortly.’ closing my eyes tilting my head slightly I murmured a small incantation and a portal opened in front of me.

Sighing a relief, I placed my hands at my side and walked through the portal closing it behind me as I did leaving the Dragon Shifters domain behind.

~Johnathans POV~

Timber and I sat quietly eating our afternoon meal while the boys were out playing somewhere with Magda. As she started speaking about her dream or vision or whatever it was, I half believed that it was real or possible. I don’t know why with everything that has happened so far anyone would believe the unbelievable but it was a real stretch for me today.

She did get Bane’s attention though when she mentioned us and the boys. When she called us a strong and trustworthy mate… Bane really peaked up.

‘Mate’s mom likes us!’ Bane yelled. Leaping about with great joy and pride.

When she kept going on and on complimenting us and how wonderful we are… it took everything I had to control myself and not get all puffed up. Bane was howling and leaping all over in my head trying to get out with her words of affirmation.

But, when her face dropped and sadness took over, that control was almost lost holding Bane back.

‘Why’s mate sad? She doesn’t want us to be great protectors?’ Bane howled in pain evident in his voice.

‘I don’t know buddy… don’t jump to conclusions. I’ll find out.’ trying to calm him.

“What’s wrong? What else was said?” I bellowed too aggressively.

“We need to protect the boys at all costs! Shamira is going to try to kill them… and me because of the elemental gifts given to us.” she whimpered out as a lone tear escaped her beautiful eyes.

‘She won’t touch mate! Or the pups!’ Bane growled menacingly.

‘No Bane she won’t! I growled back thinking of someone trying to harm my family.

With that one statement I was by her side in mere seconds thanks to wolf speed. Wrapping my arms around her, pulling her close to my chest as I tried to soothe her crying by petting her hair.

“And we will Timber. Don’t you worry, my love, we will. With every last breath in me you both will be protected.” I said softly into her head.

‘Me too! We both will protect mate and pups!’ Bane tried clawing his way out to comfort her too.

“Bane will too.” I say with a slight eye roll letting her know she’s going to be protected from us both.

Timber made a small giggle at my comment making my heart swoon and I could feel Bane purring at the interaction. Before stepping back a little from her.

When she starts talking more and then mentions training the men, an idea pops into my head.

“We could have you and the boys train with them? That way they can see what they could be up against. Give them practice fighting the magic?” saying it like it was the obvious choice.

“You’re wanting to have them train with the boys?” she tilted her head sideways looking intently at me for just mentioning the boys and training.

“With our supervision of course.” I said in hopes of alleviating some fears. “We aren’t going to let them hurt them… it’ll be more for them to practice with the boys instead of the other way around. You said they are getting really good with those gifts… didn’t you?” trying my best to persuade her to my thinking strategy.

“Well yeeess… they are actually.'' I can tell she's now thinking more intently about what exactly I’m saying.

‘Mate is so smart!’ Bane purred.

‘Yes she is pal, yes she is.’ agreeing with him.

She starts pacing in little circles while obviously thinking more about what I said. Then I saw it… her eyes lit up like she just figured out the most amazing thing ever!

“What if we try to make new weapons with some elemental enhanced features?” she stated very matter-of-factly, while I looked at with curiosity.

“What do you have in mind, my love?” smirking as I was starting to see where her thoughts were leading.

“What if we could somehow put a little essence of our gifts into the new stealth uniforms for the men?” my strategic planning was really heightened now as I lifted my brow.

“This way they would be protected if hit by her energy force. Or at least enough to stun them instead of severely injure or kill them?” she sounded so proud of her idea and wanted to protect the pack as they fought for us.

This could work. Thinking to myself. If Andreas and Timber worked together to somehow put those elemental energies into the new uniforms our warriors who do not have these gifts would have a fighting chance against whatever Shamira brings with her.

‘Mate is so smart. I love mate.’ Bane continued to chant over and over in my mind.

I wonder if it would be possible to create a new weapon using the same energy as a backup strategy? There’s Only way to find out!

‘Did mate say she can hear me?’ Bane sat a little straighter at her comment, intrigued.

‘Yep! All we need her to do now is become one with her gifts.’ Pulling her close to my body feeling electricity flow through me at her touch, we teleported to the Southern border where the training and engineering facilities were.

~ Southern Border

“So if I am understanding you correctly Alpha. You are wanting to put the essence of Luna Timber’s elemental gifts into our suits and weaponry?” I was asked after I explained our plan to fight magical supernaturals.

“Yes. That’s exactly what I am requesting.” staring at my head engineer Andreas, arms crossed over my chest.

“So? What do you think, Andreas? Can it be done?” I questioned.

“Hmmm. Well, it does seem like an interesting idea, that's for sure Alpha.” contemplating the request while rubbing his chin with his thumb and forefinger. “Let me see what I can do with the new uniforms first, then…” holding his hands behind his back lifting his head as if in thought he continued…

“If we can get that working like we hope it will… then maybe start figuring out about adding the essence to the arsenal part of the weapons?” pausing briefly to gather his thoughts on the matter. “I’m sure I could figure something out… maybe making it more stealth-like? How much time am I being allotted for this project?” stating as he’s thinking it could be possible.

“Well, we don’t know when Queen Shamira is planning her attack on the pack, and your Luna. So the quicker… the better.” I said, placing my hand on the top of his shoulder and squeezed slightly..

“OK gotcha. Will I be able to have assistance from the Luna, Alpha?” a low growl erupted from my chest at the request of keeping my mate.

Relaxation filtered through my body just as quickly as a soft hand was placed on my forearm. Looking down at it, then back up to the eyes it belonged to. A smile crept onto my face as Timber smiled at me and said, “he is going to need my help Johnathan with the essence part. Everything will be fine. I promise.” I nodded slightly at her response before kissing the back of her hand.

“Yes. You will have the Assistance of the Luna… Andreas.” keeping my eyes on Timber as I spoke before finishing with, “nothing better happen to her while she’s here with you. Understand?” now turning to look at him in the eyes, Bane trying to force himself forward darkening my eyes. If they think I’m protective over her… oh goodness… Bane is a hundred times worse.

“Of course Alpha. I will guard her with my life.” bowing his head in submission and respect.

“You better.” a low growl escaped me again as Bane was not happy with the thought of her being away from us.

“Johnathan, I will only be a thought away my love. Don’t worry.” gazing up at me lovingly while placing her hands on my chest. Bane relaxed at the touch bringing him and me much comfort.

She reached up as I leaned down, merging in the middle with our lips. I grabbed her waist, pulling her closer to my chest as she let out a small groan making me grip her tighter. Growling lowly at the release of her backing up ever so slowly.

“The boys know what to do with their gifts. Train the men to embrace the feeling of being protected and attacked. If we need you I will let you know. Now go… get our pack trained for battle.” Timber said lovingly yet with authoritatively gazing up into my eyes.

Bane swooned over her.

‘Miss mate already.’ Bane whined in my head.

‘Yes Bane. Me too. But we need to show mate how we can protect her and the pups. Ok?’ talking to him like I would a child.

‘Let’s go protect mate and pups!’ I knew that would work smirking to myself. All I have to do is mention our pups and protection and he goes into all possessive mode.

Leaning down I kissed her once more before disappearing.

“Now that Alpha Johnathan is gone.” Timber says looking over to Andreas. “Let’s get to work now shall we? There’s a lot to be done and very little time to do it in.” placing her hands on her hips smirking. A light blue aura starts to form around her as he nods his head in agreement.
