Chapter 41: Chapter 41
David’s P.O.V.
Helena’s bedroom was covered in white and red, but mostly with red shades. It looked very feminine and suited her taste.
It was the first time I was able to get in here. I guessed that Helena’s room was even bigger than our whole house, and that made me gape. She even had a second floor or attic room with a spiral staircase, in addition to her princess-like bed with four white poles and lacey red curtains.
“Do you like what you’re seeing? Oh, that attic room was actually a pillow room. A-Athena and I used to have a pillow fight over there, but it was all just our plaything. Nothing serious.” Helena might have noticed me gawking around every corner of her enormous bedroom.
“Yeah. But I like you more than anything else,” I replied, and that made Helena smile again.
“You don’t have to flatter me, Cristoff. I’m already your girlfriend, so save those sweet-talks the next time.” Helena clearly didn’t want to get defeated, or should I say, she didn’t want to admit that she was melting on my ways of showing how much she means to me.
“But I still have to… because I want to,” I told her before ending the conversation with a swift kiss on her forehead.
Helena had a huge vanity mirror, and it was even grander than my sister’s vintage mirror. She also had a glass-door cabinet with pictures of her and Athena—some were actually the photos I saw on Famebook.
Helena’s doorless wardrobe cabinet was indeed full of exquisite clothes, fashion shoes, and designer bags. There was a rectangular and inverter-type of aircon plus a large sofa near the left side of the bed.
Although I wasn’t able to see it before my eyes, I guessed her room’s balcony was magnificent too and was even superior to my room. On her white wall were also hanging paintings and grow-up pictures.
The bedroom had its own bathroom, and about seventy-five-inch television was wall-mounted at the foot of the bed. If I would compare our social statuses, I was obviously on the ground, and Helena was living in heaven.
But I dismissed those in order not to belittle myself. I would do my best to study hard, and Helena would be my number one inspiration to achieve my goals and dreams. It could not be now, but I was sure that Helena would surely be proud of me.
Contentment tiptoed my heart as I carefully placed her on her beautiful bed, but because her hands were still swathed around my neck, I got out of balance when she inadvertently pulled me closer to her. I kissed her pointed nose as a result.
“Helena…”
It was all I could say. Now, my heartbeat suddenly accelerated. I couldn’t afford but lose myself whenever I got so close to my girlfriend. I guessed I already invested too much emotions for Helena in just a few days. I got too attached to her, and getting away from her would just kill me in the process.
Invisible lumps were blocking my throat that I swallowed several times, but I was surprised when Helena suddenly erupted out laughing. Now, the correct depiction of dragging me closer towards her wasn’t inadvertently, but rather, intentionally.
“Oh my God! You’re too cute, Cristoff! I bet my boyfriend here could never resist my charms. Admit it… you’re falling for me over and over, aren’t you?” Helena bantered as she showed me her beautiful eyes after. I must say that what she did was on a different level because her eyes were green.
“Oh, is that so? Now, I forgot that I have a clever girlfriend here. Hmm, let me think of something then—” I said, but knowing how she was deeply immersed in me, I wasn’t able to finish my sentence.
My fingers already did their job to attack and tickle her in the stomach and all over her slender waist. I didn’t have any other choice but to freely join her on the bed because we were too riveted with our amusement.
Helena was soon doubled over with a burst of nice laughter. It looked like it was her first time to laugh after all the trials she had been through. Her laugh sounded like music to my ears, that I would want to hear it over and over again.
“That’s e-enough, Cristoff! I—I don’t want to… please, haha! I promise—I won’t tease you a-anymore, just stop!” Helena uproariously begged while trying to control my hands. We gasped afterwards, and while we were both waiting for our breathing to get steady, I just let her pillow my left arm.
Then, I stared at her for a while. I guessed I could have done something good in my past life to have her now by my side.
“Alright, I’ll just get our food. What do you want to eat?” I asked after a few minutes while stroking her long, soft, and silky brown hair.
“Hmm, you don’t have to go. Just pressed the intercom near the door,” Helena pointed out where the intercom could be found before she waywardly smiled at me.
“But to answer your question about what I would like to eat… then, my answer would be your lips, Cristoff. Can I bite them?” Her eyebrows wiggled while she was teasing me. She was clearly tempting me even without doing anything!
Heat rose to my cheeks, but I didn’t even know why I blushed all of a sudden. Maybe because I wasn’t used to seeing Helena damnably blunt on being sweet. I just ended up kissing her on the forehead, and who knew what else could I do, knowing that we were only alone in here.
“Naughty girl!” I told her before standing up and striding towards the door. “I know my lips are indeed kissable, but please don’t lust over me, Helena. You are treating my lips as appetizers, and it would be all your fault if my lips would be easily consumed. You won’t have anything to kiss next time, do you want that?” I winked at her before I twisted the doorknob.
“Oh my God, Cristoff! I was just kidding, like hey? I won’t ever devour your lips. Seriously? You have such a thick skin, don’t you?” Helena’s laugh reverberated across all corners of her bedroom before throwing me a pillow.
“But wait, Cristoff! Do you want to spend some time with me in the Music Room? We can go there after you ask the maids to prepare our food. I can teach you the basics of—”
“Oh! You don’t even have to ask, Helena. I would love to,” I cut her off. I wasn’t seeing my facial expression right now, but I guessed it was so etched to be read. I felt so happy.
“Just a minute,” I told her while pressing the ‘food’ icon from the intercom to alert their maids.
Then, instead of leaving the room, I strode towards Helena and carried her to the Music Room. It was located on the second floor. I had to lift her since we left her wheelchair at the doorstep of their mansion earlier.
“Okay, so when it comes to playing piano, we do have thousands of chords to select from, but what I’m going to teach you first are the most common piano chords. Are you okay with that?” Helena instructed when she was already in front of her piano, and I was just being attentive by her side.
“Sure,” I nodded. Helena hadn’t yet started, but I was already fascinated by her. I had to be keenly observant.
“We have A, C, D, E, F, and G, both major and minor piano chords,” Helena started teaching me the basics. She was, by all means, showing me where I could find the said chords in the piano keys.
Even Helena’s fingers were mesmerizing me the way how those were keying the said chords. She was also physically guiding my hands, and I was grateful for being a fast learner.
Soon enough, I learned the technique of the piano triad. It was done by placing my thumb and fingers on adjacent white keys and pressing down with my thumb, middle finger, and pinky one.
“Perfect, I must be a great teacher!” Helena squealed. I made her proud when she clapped her hands after hearing that I could now play the basics with ease.
“Now, let me discuss the pitch. Well, I hope you’re not getting bored with what I’m telling you here…” Helena smiled with the corners of her lips almost reaching her ears.
“Try me, Helena. I won’t get bored with you…” I said with conviction. Helena was too engrossed with music and that would even make me want to sing, even though I was always out of tune.
“Well, the pitch is the high or low frequency of a sound. When you sing, you create pitch because your vocal cords vibrate at a certain speed. The tone is the color or timbre of the pitch. Notes are musical symbols that indicate the location of a pitch. And crescendo… that’s what makes me think of you,” Helena affirmed.
“Crescendo, why? Because Cristoff and crescendo both start with the letter C?” I curiously asked her, but I didn’t know how to react upon hearing her answer.
Helena beatifically smiled at me. “Nope. Because crescendo is the highest point reached in a progressive intensity when it comes to music. Did you cast a spell on me, Cristoff?”
She paused for a while before she continued. “Because of you, my heart beats at its highest peak… and it all started months ago when we accidentally kissed. You know what? Who would have ever imagined that I could relate love to music—”
Too much delight had resonated throughout my spine that I couldn’t help it anymore. I cut Helena off by crossing our distance and brushing my lips against hers.
