David’s P.O.V.

That was when we heard the voices of our teachers screaming for our names. It looked like they already had a rescue team with them. Helena and I doubled our time to immediately get dressed and went out of the hut. I was already carrying her when people saw us.

One of the first-aiders wanted to take Helena from me, but I didn’t give him my girlfriend. She remained in my arms, and even though we would be going back to Quego del Mar like this, I would never get tired from carrying her.

I didn’t allow Helena’s skin to be fiddled with mosquitos last night. How come that I would let others lay their hands on her? I didn’t even care if they were rescuers.

No one touches my girl! Now that she’s already my girlfriend? No way!

Truly overwhelmed with how our bond formed so fast, I felt so good because Helena saw me through it all. There was a constant wishing in my heart that time could last a little bit longer. Even without any assurance that we could go back secure, with her felt like home.

We had already reached Camp Teraza, but I was still carrying Helena, and my arms seemed to get fond of her weight. Then, I saw Brent.

Jack was mocking the hell out of him for being unsuccessful in finding Helena last night. At the back of their troop was Vanessa—who averted her gaze while some students just stared at us with a favorable tease on their eyes.

We immediately took Helena to a small hospital in Teraza Aculla to provide her with more effective and efficient first aid. After that, we took her to a well-known hospital in Quego del Mar for a second opinion and another check-up.

All of our fellow organizers at the camp had gone home, but I did not leave Helena’s side. Mrs. Cheng and Mrs. Gutierrez would like to stay too, but I assured them that taking care of Helena would be my top-most priority while waiting for her father.

With what happened last night—about how I became Helena’s knight in shining armor—the teachers trusted me enough to leave Helena on me. After the doctor examined her foot, I preceded the male nurse in carrying Helena, and that was when I placed her in a wheelchair temporarily.

Then, Helena requested us to go to the nearest vending machine because she was quite thirsty. Well… how on earth could I say ‘no’ to my charismatic girlfriend, who means the world to me?

“So, t-this is how the person feels when someone is taking care of her… while gently pushing her wheelchair,” she whispered.

“Hmm, why? What about it? How does it feel?” I asked her with a smile, even though I was behind her and she was not even looking at me.

“Nothing. I’m just thankful that you were here… right with me. Until now, I still couldn’t believe that you were able to save me last night. And you protected me more than anything, Cristoff. Thank you,” she replied. Then, we stopped opposite the vendo machine and let her choose the drinks she preferred.

“Don’t worry, Helena. I won’t ever leave you, and I will always save you. I will protect you no matter what, and I will be forever true to that promise,” I stated, handing her a bottle of mango juice while having a soda-in-can for myself.

We went back inside her room because Helena wanted to lie down for a while before the doctor could put a cast on her foot. We had waited for another two hours until her father arrived.

“What happened, Doc? How’s my princess? Where is she?” Even though we were inside the room, we could hear how her daddy’s voice was full of authority while repeatedly asking someone outside the open door.

Extreme anxiety was evident in his voice. Well, who couldn’t be when everything was all about his daughter? Maybe, Mr. Delgado had already met the doctor who just finished casting Helena’s left foot.

“Dad, I’m here!” Helena waved at her father while extending her pretty neck. Mr. Delgado immediately entered the room and worriedly inspected her casted foot.

“Don’t worry, Dad… I’m fine. I got lost and accidentally hurt myself last night, but Cristoff followed me into the wild forest and saved my life.” Then, Helena smiled to stop her father from fretting over what had happened.

Focused on Helena’s face where I could never get tired of looking into, I was surprised when Mr. Delgado approached me and gently patted my shoulder. “I’m so proud of you, young man! Thanks for saving my daughter.” He formed a thin smile on his lips after.

“Anything for your daughter, Sir—I mean, Uncle…” I responded with a smile before turning my attention to Helena again.

Mr. Delgado immediately arranged Helena’s discharge papers, and after that, we already left the hospital. With Helena’s persistence, I went with them even though our house was already close to the hospital—just a walking distance. I couldn’t say ‘no’ to her, and I didn’t even want to try to.

Mr. Delgado was the one driving the car. Helena and I were seated side by side at the back seat, and from time to time, I saw how my girlfriend used to smile wickedly.

It was because she was secretly holding my right hand underneath a car pillow in between us. I tended to avoid her gesture, not because I didn’t want to. I was actually afraid that her father might see us, and I couldn’t afford that her sneaky way could separate us in no time.

Our relationship hadn’t even reached a day. It was hard for me to control myself when deep inside, I loved what she was doing.

When we arrived in front of their house, I immediately got out of the car and removed Helena’s wheelchair when Mr. Delgado opened the compartment. I assembled it, and when I made sure that everything was fine, Helena’s father carried his daughter and carefully placed her over there.

It was already one in the afternoon, and I was about to say goodbye to them when Mr. Delgado asked me for a favor. I did not expect that, especially since he did not seem to be in a good mood earlier. I was actually afraid that he might have seen what Helena and I were doing at the back seat moments ago.

“Please stay with Helena until tomorrow, David. I need to close a big deal, and I’m afraid that I won’t be home until tomorrow morning. It was a huge foreign investment, and I can’t lose that one. I can trust you, right?” He seriously told me while meticulously staring at me like he was reading my facial expression.

“Y-Yes. Of course, Uncle. You can trust me,” I answered quickly.

If he only knew that his daughter was already my girlfriend, would Mr. Delgado still trust me? Little did he know what kind of sin Helena and I were about to do last night. For sure, I would not be able to set foot here in their mansion.

“Good. I will ask the maids to prepare the guest room for you and provide you with anything you need for a day’s stay,” he declared before patting my shoulder.

After that, he bade goodbye to Helena by tenderly kissing her forehead. Then, he climbed inside his car and drove it away until it disappeared from our sight.

That was the time for me to grab Helena’s wheelchair delicately. With the help of their security guards, we soon entered their huge gate and explored their landscaped driveway while slowly pushing her in front of me.

After a few moments, we were already inside their mansion. Who would have ever thought that when I first came here, we were just like dogs and cats bickering towards each other? Now, she had already become my girlfriend, and my mind couldn’t still believe that truth!

“Can I request something?” Helena smiled alluringly. She raised his face and looked at me with her eyes glistening.

“Anything for my girl,” I replied hastily before coming in front of her and knelt on one knee. I also fondly touched my girlfriend’s rosy-white cheek.

“Ssh, don’t be loud. Someone might hear us,” Helena gently grunted at me, but she was all-out smiling.

“Alright, but what about it? What is my pretty green-eyed girlfriend’s request, huh?” I whispered back at her.

“I wanted to go to my room now, but you have to carry me all the way to the third floor… no elevator.” Helena pouted her lips, and she looked like a child asking for candy.

My goodness! my mind cried helplessly.

Dave, you have to stop yourself from kissing Helena here. Someone might see you. If not, CCTVs are surely placed everywhere, and once Mr. Delgado finds out that you didn’t respect Helena here, that would be the end of your happiness! Control yourself, okay? Inhale… exhale!

“Oh, sure thing! You should be thankful that I love you so much, and I don’t care about your weight.” Then, I smilingly stood up, bent down, and carried Helena up to her room.

What Helena instructed me was indeed in my favor. I didn’t want to use their elevator in the first place because I wanted to carry her even longer. I would never get tired of her, although her bedroom was still located on the third floor.

“Well, thank you! I love you too,” Helena uttered with a smile before wrapping her hands around my neck.

I could feel that she was still having some hesitation with the rightful meaning of the words ‘I love you too,’ but I wasn’t rushing her. Like what I told her last night, I would never ask for more than what she could ever give me.

When we reached the third floor, and we were already in front of her bedroom door, I immediately turned the doorknob open. We went inside, and I kicked the door closed then.
