Chapter 39: Chapter 39

David’s P.O.V.

“Ssh… it’s okay. I must admit that I wasn’t able to stop myself too. I was completely drawn to you. But to tell you, it was my first French kiss, Cristoff! You stole my every first!” Helena blushed as she spanked my shoulder.

‘Oh, that’s it! She is starting to beat me again! Hmm, I think kissing her would make her stop hitting me. Can I do that again?’ But no, I respected her, and that was the main reason why I was able to control myself from ravaging her further.

“Hmm… did someone tell you that you are too cute whenever you blushed, Helena?” I playfully pinched her nose, but later on, my expression became serious. My eyes wandered around her beautiful face. My hands also moved on their own accord and tucked some of her hair strands at the back of her ears.

“But, Helena… is it true that I would never have any chance on you? You know, we just did what lovers do—” I was surprised when she suddenly cut my sentence off.

‘Wait, using her lips? She… kissed me?’ I could hardly contain the happiness that my eyes couldn’t stop from blinking while staring at her gorgeous green eyes.

For a moment, Helena smiled, and it was the most radiant smile I had ever seen in my entire life. “Yes. Hmm, let’s have ‘us’ a try. Moving forward, I’m already your girlfriend. But please… let’s keep it a secret for now, okay? I’m afraid of what Daddy could do once he finds out. I’m sure that he would be angry and disappointed in me.” Helena then pouted her lips.

Guilt-ridden, she slightly bowed her head because she was most likely thinking about her father’s reaction, knowing that we were both teens. At some point, we were impulsive, and I couldn’t blame Mr. Delgado if he would act differently.

But above all, what Helena said made me daze and part my lips. I couldn’t believe what was happening around me, much as I couldn’t speak. I even touched my lips as if still feeling her soft lips.

‘Am I just dreaming? Does Helena already agree to be my girlfriend? Is this really true? Or my ears were just fooling me because I’m hearing things I’m not supposed to?’

“Hey, Cristoff! Any comments about my request? Sorry, huh? Perhaps, I’m still not ready to be in a relationship yet… that’s why I wanted to keep it a secret for now. Daddy will really scold me because I promised him that studies would always come first. You’ve understood our situation, don’t you?” Helena’s eyes screamed sadness, making her bow again.

Well, I didn’t care anymore if we had to keep our relationship a secret. The most important thing right now was to make sure that my ears were not deceiving me.

My right index finger quickly touched her chin and slowly lifted her face. “Look at me, Helena. I-Is this really true? Are you really giving your ‘yes’ to me? It’s fine with me if we’re not going to tell your Dad about us—I mean, we can still disguise as mere classmates.” I paused for a while before I continued.

“But could you please tell me that my ears were not just fooling me? That y-you’re already my girlfriend? Please? Could you please speak those words again for me to make sure that everything was real and I wasn’t just dreaming?” There was no point in denying my joy that I even stammered in front of her.

“Yes! You heard everything right, Cristoff. I’m already your girlfriend and you’re not dreaming… or do you want me to take back what I’ve said?” Helena threw me an arc of her left eyebrow as she began to get peevish again.

“Of course not! You’re already my girlfriend, and what makes you think that I will let you go now?” Too much delight had been reigning my heart, prompting me to stand up. Adrenaline caused me to easily scoop Helena in my arms, carried her in a bridal way, and spun my body around.

It felt like my feet barely touched the base of the cabin, and I couldn’t think of a time I had ever been happier. “Yes! Helena gave me her yes! She’s already my girlfriend!” My scream echoed throughout our location.

Well, there was nothing wrong with it. No one could hear. And just in case people could hear my scream, I didn’t care about them. I might also not wish for them to see us here because this glimmer of elation would only be cut off.

Just now, all I knew was… pleasure indulged through my heart, and my whole body was floating in euphoria. It only happened with Helena.

“Hey, stop twirling around and control your mouth! Oh my God! You’re too loud, and be careful with my left foot, Cristoff. It might accidentally get stuck somewhere,” Helena gasped.

She was all-out smiling while tapping my shoulders and covering my mouth. I knew that she also liked what I did to her. With our hearts focused on each other, we didn’t realize that the rain had finally stopped. I wasn’t sure, though. Was it just me who didn’t notice it because I was only concentrated on her?

I raptly laid her soft body on the rattan pallet and gently held her hands. I also couldn’t stop myself from kissing her white and beautiful knuckles while my heart was beating out loud.

“Helena… I can’t promise what will happen tomorrow. You know, we’re only teenagers. But I promise that I won’t ever cheat on you, much as I will never hurt you. Although I didn’t formally court you, I promise to go on dates with you in any way you would prefer me to.”

“We might already be in a relationship, but I will still court you the best way I can. There will never be a day when you won’t feel loved, okay? I will show my love for you each and every day, no matter what happens. I will continue to love you in my own ways,” I sincerely promised while intently looking at her enticing green irises.

She brightly smiled at me as she pulled her hands from my grasp and cupped my jaws instead. Honestly, it was the first time I saw Helena smiled like this… until the happiness drifted away from her exquisite face.

“Cristoff, I wanted to be honest with you. I’ll be frank. Unlike you, I am not sure about anything for now. I can’t promise that I will love you wholeheartedly when I don’t even know the right definition of love.”

“You knew that I don’t know how to love, right? Sooner or later, I know I’ll get there, but right now, I can’t commit to anything. Instead, I want you to hold on to this—I will truly love you in any best way possible, I promise.”

Stunned, I never expected those words would come out from her. But still, I was more than contented and grateful. Us, being rivals to lovers, was like a dream come true.

“I understand, Helena. Don’t worry because I won’t ever ask for more than what you can give me. I will get to know you every day—about what your favorite foods were and what you liked the most aside from music.”

“About what you liked to do and what you want to try to do in the future, I will be with you through it all. I will love you sincerely, Helena. Thank you for trusting my love.” I was teary-eyed. My eyes went down from her eyes to her plump lips. I wanted to kiss her again, but I controlled myself.

Instead, I pulled her over a warm embrace. Despite the darkness of the night, sunshine flooded my soul when she hugged me in return, and buried her face at the crook of my neck. It was a great thing that we were not tempted to do that one forbidden thing again, and that was how both of us decided to sleep.

Honestly, I didn’t go to sleep at the same time Helena succumbed to her dreams. I watched her until dawn, and even in darkness, I was able to get rid of those mosquitoes and other insects that tried to land on her rosy-white skin.

“Penny for your thoughts? Good morning, Cristoff!”

Dragged away from my reverie, I stopped reminiscing what happened last night when I suddenly heard Helena’s captivating voice. She was already awake, and I did not even realize it. She was all-out smiling, and her green eyes seemed to be sparkling while staring at me. I loved a lot of things about her. Her pair of green eyes was only a bonus.

I smiled back, then ended up kissing her lips as fast as I could. Nothing could ever be more addicting than those.

“If this will always be the case, then my morning would definitely be good. In fact, greater than good. Good morning, my Helena!” Then, I winked at her. I was silently hoping that I didn’t have a morning glory right now, so she wouldn’t be turned off.

As usual, Helena’s cheeks got stained again. I couldn’t agree more—she was undoubtedly pretty whenever she was blushing.

“Hey, Cristoff! I accepted you as my boyfriend last night, but it doesn’t mean that you could get used to stealing kisses from me!” She suddenly placed her palm on my face and jestingly pushed me away.

Slowly staring at her straight in the eyes, I gently held her soft wrists at the same time. Her green eyes seemed to speak what her mouth couldn’t tell, and even though Helena reacted that way previously, she already melted me.

I couldn’t help myself but loom over and devotedly kissed her on the forehead. Too much glee danced through my thoughts, knowing that she was already my girlfriend.
