Chapter 89: Chapter 89
Maya squinted her eyes just to be sure it was still the penthouse she had left a month ago.
Grey couch had replaced pink glittery love settees and on the wall, the silly framy heart wallpaper has been replaced with a less "pinkish" one.
She had let herself inside the house with spare keys she still had in her possession though, from the sounds coming from the kitchen, someone was in.
What had happened and what the fuck was going on?
"Maya!" Jessica came out of the kitchen looking at her bewildered.
"You are here? You should have told me you are coming around to visit."
She gave her a little uneasy smile, not knowing if she should just tell her that she will be coming back even though she had not given them any form of prior notice.
But it wasn't like her room had been given to someone else and she needed to drop a notice for it to be vacated, right?
"Is this who I think this is!?" Maya turned to meet pairs of green sleepy eyes, now wide with awe and absolute shock which didn't make sense to her.
Another thing that didn't make sense to her was the room the girl had seemed to come out from. Her room.
"Oh, my amazeballs!" She screamed and Maya tried hard not to wince.
"You are really Maya, soon to be Maya Salvador? Like Xavier's Maya?"
She raised her brow not understanding one frickin thing, the girl in front of her was rambling about, especially why she had called her Xavier's Maya.
Like who says something like that. Sounded almost like she was a couch he had bought on a sales budget.
She gave Jessica a confused look while Jessica gave her the act along, don't be a douchebag infamous reply.
"Yes, I think I'm Maya," she chuckled a bit. Scared that the girl in front of her might just dive on her if the nervous energy on her body was anything to trust. She moved back a little. "Not sure about being Xavier's but I think I'm the Maya, you are looking for."
"I follow you on your social media handle. Your Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook." The girl in front of her in her silly nighties was almost jumping, bouncing on her knees.
"I'm a huge fan."
"Of?" She asked, more out of shock. She wasn't a brand, a model, a singer, or had any talent or job whatsoever that brought her to the limelight that required fans or whatnot.
"Of your love story. Like from assistant to fiancée. You are practically living life off the scene of a romantic movie and you are also dating one of New York's eligible bachelors." Her eyes were wide as saucer pan as she stared at Maya like she couldn't believe she was real, "You are even more beautiful in person and so modest, it is embarrassing."
Jasmine walked inside. "Hello," she and Jessica exchanged looks and she was giving Maya a sympathetic look.
"Seems like you have already met, Ashley here our new roommate. She had been thrilled to know she was going to be staying in a room where you had slept in," Jasmine glared briefly at the now quiet Ashley, who looked away sharply, "She is a huge fan and knows things about you that are creepy and strange. So don't ask."
Maya was supposed to shiver and say no thanks or stare at the girl in front of her who was still gaping at her, giving her a little smile but she was still in some kind of trance, trying to reassure herself she heard wrongly when Jasmine had said, new roommate.
"New roommate?" Her eyes were bulging she bet as she directed a look at Jasmine.
She shrugged, "We figured since you have already moved in with Xavier, why not help Ashley who was having accommodation problems? She is the new interior designer in Salvador's inc, the brain behind the transformation in this house and a reprieve from Jessica's torture."
Jessica's eyes flared but she didn't retort or give a good enough reply as expected but just sighed, sitting at the side of the couch.
Maya gave her a look, knowing she was anything but fine, "What is going on with her?"
"I don't know. But I suspect it has something to do with the heart."
"Guys, you know I'm right here and can hear you guy's voices, really well?" Jessica tried to stifle a yawn while Maya battled on how to go about her newly dawned on her, homeless situation.
She couldn't exactly ask her friends to throw the poor girl out of the building especially since she knew how tough it was finding a nice house within one's budget with a reasonable real estate agent at this time of the month where houses are overpriced because of its overbearing demand.
Deep in thoughts, she felt a temporary flash of a Torchlight? She looked up alarmed.
Ashley gave her a sheepish smile, "Was just trying to get a picture of you to prove to some doubting fools on my DM that you are really at my house. Can we take a picture?" She requested, batting her eyelashes while Maya felt like rolling her eyes, almost amused at how ignorant she was of what was going through her mind. Her roommates have replaced her and she didn't want to go back to Xavier. She dreads that house.
"Sure," she mumbled even as Ashley came close to her and she tried to act like it wasn't totally weird how Ashley was holding on to her like they were pals that go way back while she had just discovered her existence barely 10 minutes ago.
An existence that was fucking her carefully thought out plan.
Now she couldn't move, not until she finds a house.
Why does life have to be so difficult? She thought to herself internally whining while Ashley talked about a bodycon gown she had gone crazy trying to have because she saw it on her body.
She heard the sound of an engine and peered out of the window. She saw a yellow Lamborghini and was already collapsing on the couch next to her. She only knew one man capable of showing up in such a flashy style.
Warranting unneeded attention and drawing people to his life even without the limelight. Xavier also known as the man she was trying to avoid and didn't want to see.
But well we don't always get our wishes, do we?
