Chapter 90: Chapter 90

A peace offering

Jasmine looked out of the window gasping, "Xavier is also here."

Maya smiled sweetly, "It appears so," she muttered underneath her breath noting that she was cornered.

Maya raised her brow at Skylar who appeared like she was told Christmas will be coming earlier.

"Oh my God this is happening," she muttered underneath her breath while trying to comb her hair hastily with her fingers making Maya blink wondering what the fuss was about especially since she worked under him.

Then she remembered that she only saw Xavier regularly because they worked in the same building and it was not the same case for the other workers especially since he had a private elevator and his own personal parking space.

Most of the workers have never seen their boss except through tabloids and the television.

He looked breathless even as he busted into the room, his eyes finding Maya almost immediately who looked flustered at the heated gaze she could sense.

"You know we are here too and you both have barely been away from each other for two hours," Jessica commented cheekily.

Maya looked away even as Xavier raised his brow at the strange girl staring at him like he was the last Mac cheese on Earth and she was dying of hunger.

"This is Ashley," Jessica introduced, hitting the awestruck poor girl as discreetly as possible so she could stop gawking.

She couldn't blame her though because just a few months ago, she was in her shoes. Xavier could do that effortlessly to any woman and coupled with the fact that she was a fan, she didn't expect anything less. But any more of the gawking and she'll be driving him away.

"She is our new roommate."

Xavier had a surprised look that he didn't even try to hide. He had thought that Maya had already got settled in with the girls and be was going to be greeted with moving vans the next morning.

He looked towards her and noting the way she couldn't meet his gaze, she could tell this was a surprise to her as well.

"We had gotten a new roommate because well, Maya had left and we knew she won't be coming back. You guys are engaged and the marriage is bound to happen next so__"

Maya snapped her head towards Jasmine so quickly that she had stopped mid-sentence while Xavier was scared she just might break her slender neck.

"Marriage?" She croaked out.

Jasmine eyed her, "Yes. That's the whole essence of getting engaged right?"

She had never allowed her mind wander to people expecting them to get married, not because she knew that their arrangement was a sham but somehow she was expecting one of her closest friends to sense what was going on and call them out on their lies.

But somehow, they had bought it all and now were expecting a wedding. Like they thought it possible that she could be able to win the heart of the cold player and he'll be willing to walk down the aisle of forever with her. They truly gave her so much credit. She was gobsmacked.

"Maya just sounded surprised because, with everything that had happened in the past, a wedding is the last thing on our mind," Maya nodded eagerly in support of his cover-up words, realizing her slipup, "Though I can't wait to make Maya mine, the ball is in her court and she wants us to go slow, so who am I to object?"

Jasmine placed her hand on her chest, Jessica awwned while Ashley tried to take pictures of Xavier as discreet as a firecracker.

He smiled at her realizing that her existence was the only reason why he had a chance of taking Maya back with him and though she wasn't aware of the big favor she had done him, the least he could do was to be courteous.

"I know this is the point where I say I am your big fan but I must have already done that by sending you the creepy fan vibe but I'm just so ecstatic to see you both in person and you guys look as happy together and good like I've always imagined!" She chirped making Maya cringe internally at how wrong her assessment was but she didn't dare say her honest opinion but grinned back at the girl who was barely containing her excitement.

"So can I ask you both a few impersonal questions and will it be okay if I film you both?"

Maya huffed, looking away. Xavier shrugged, he had time to kill and a woman to apologize to, so what did he have to lose anyway by starring in a girl's little game.

He patted a spot next to him since Skylar squealing had gone inside the room and had made a video set up, with the camera facing him like she had known all along they'll be coming.

Who keeps all these objects and stuff in handy?

"I'm a YouTuber. I make videos on YouTube and run a vlog," she explained deciphering the question in Maya's eyes.

Maya scowled even as she sat down next to Xavier. Who smiled triumphantly. He had learned to count his little victories and this was one of them.

He should be grateful to this fan of his, he thought inwardly even as he gave a dazzling smile to the camera for her benefit.

"So here with me live, is Maya and her fiancée, Xavier. It has been a crazy evening and when I say crazy I mean utterly insane but here they are with me and I'm going to be doing a one on one interview with them, like how cool is that?" She sat in-between them, a megawatt smile on her face that made Maya wonder if her cheeks didn't hurt by how stretched she was pulling at them.

"So I've been dying to know this," she muttered ecstatically looking at the both of them, "Who said I love you first?"

Xavier pointed at Maya while she pointed at him, at the same time.

"Why do you both think it is the other that confessed first please?" Ashley asked, her voice composed confirming she had entered her make-believe interviewer's role.

"Because while I think she expressed herself with action, I did profess my love to her with actual words first."

Jasmine's eyes flashed with an evil look and Maya almost groaned recognizing the look right away. She'll try to find out all the ways she had professed her love to Xavier and she was in big trouble because, Jasmine won't leave here until she was satisfied with a dirty story and she didn't have anything to tell because well, this was a lie!

"Who forgives first."

Xavier pointed at her, giving her a look that made her almost scoff.

Oh now, he was acting all remorseful.

"Who is more annoying?" She didn't need to date Xavier to know the answer to that question as she pointed towards him, his finger on his chest like a peace offering of some sort.
