Chapter 41: Chapter 41
I spend my time thinking of what event could I possibly change in the future? What did I do to make things like this? I still can't believe by now that my grandma is still alive, and grandpa is dead.
"Your grandma wants to visit you; she is very excited to see you. You just ignore her when you arrive last day. Be easy on your grandma, I know she was very strict on you when you are a child, but she truly loves you," my mother said then said.
What?
In the first place, I never met her at this time. I just met her when I was transported back in time. Now, my mother is saying that I hate her?
"Can she visit me, though? I want to see her too. I want to say sorry to her for ignoring her," I said then looked at her.
"Don't worry, if the doctor gives us a go signal to release you then you can see her. She can't go out because she is vulnerable to the virus." She handed me a glass of water.
Yeah, right! There is a pandemic, I got used to the environment of the past that I truly forgot the situation here.
"Mama, can I ask how grandma treat me when I was a child?"
I heard my mother sighed. "She was very strict when it comes to you. When you are born, she was the first one who carried you, she was very delightful and happy when you finally say hello to the world. It was like she was already expecting you. She was the one who named you, Aliyah."
Grandma Cristel... My eyes went wide.
"What is grandma's name again?" I asked again.
"Criselda or Cristel, she said that she once changed her name to protect herself, but she refused to use it forever. She is not used to it," my mother answered.
So, grandma kept her real name. Did I really wake up on my time? It seems like I woke up in a parallel universe when all the happenings are opposite.
"The accident really shook your head, you lost some of your memories. You can't come back yet to work." My mother hissed.
"Yes, Mama. I am not planning to go back yet. I need to do something else," I said then closed my eyes. I'm tired of understanding things.
"How's Aliyah? Is she doing alright?"
I immediately get up when I heard that voice. It's Dr. Dizon!
Right! I need to ask him some questions. I need more clarifications.
"She's doing fine but she lost some of her memories. She's acting very weird," my mother answered.
I gave her a sharp look. She shrugged her shoulders then left the room. Thank goodness, I need privacy with this doctor.
I bit my lips. "Sorry for my mother, she is a little overacting."
He smiled at me; I remember Henry. "It's alright, mothers are just like that. I understand. How's your wound and your head? Is it true that you lost some of your memories?"
I nodded. "But I am alright! You don't need to do anything. I..." I paused.
He looked at me. "What is it?"
I let out a deep breath. "I want to ask some questions to you?"
He nodded. "Sure."
I sighed. "Did we meet before I got involved in an accident?"
"I met you in a bar then you puke on me," he said then chuckled.
I nodded, that thing didn't change. "How did I get into an accident?"
"How can I know that? You rushed here to the hospital in a very critical condition. I was on duty that night, so I got the chance to conduct an operation on you," he answered.
That changed.
"How was your grandma?" I asked again.
"Grandma died years ago after grandpa," he answered that made me stopped for a while.
"What?" I can't believe it at first, probably I just misheard it.
"Grandma Sonia died years ago after grandpa died, grandma died days ago. She can't live without grandpa on her side. They truly loved each other that until death, they are together." He smiled.
That was a relief. At least, I know that I did something right.
"Why are you asking about them?" he asked me.
"Your grandpa and my grandpa were best friends. I was just curious because when my grandpa was still alive, he was telling me stories about his teen days. I can tell that they had wonderful days that they treasured forever. I wish I have that kind of friend too," I said then sighed.
"You know what? When I was a child, grandpa keeps on telling me about an amazing girl he loved before grandma."
I looked at him, he got my attention. I am very sure that I know that girl.
"Tell me more about that story. I want to hear more," I said and stopped my tears from falling. How did Henry describe me?
"He said that girl caught her eyes and heart on the first time he laid his eyes on her. He said that girl was very different from other women at that time, she stands out among others. She was his first true love and first heartbreak," he narrated.
"Did he tell you how that girl and he didn't end up together?" I was shaking.
"He said that marrying grandma will save that girl's life, so after he married grandma, he returned when they left that girl, but she was gone already. I assumed that girl was a slave and to able to set her free, grandpa marries grandma, but she escaped," he answered.
I nodded. "That was sad." I stopped my tears from falling but I still ended up crying.
"Why are you crying? Did I say something wrong?" he asked then caressed my back.
I'm so sorry, Henry. I didn't want to leave like that, I still want to see you, I still want to kiss you and hug you very tight. I love you so much, I'm so sorry.
I cried in Dr. Dizon's arms. I don't why but I feel comfortable with him. I just want to stay this way but we can't.
"I apologize, I should not cry in front of a stranger. I suddenly missed my grandpa, that's why. He died yesterday; he didn't even wait for me to get conscious. He just left like that," I said.
He sighed. "I'm so sorry to hear that, Aliyah."
"It's okay, he was old by the way. My family and I readied ourselves that anytime he will leave us but still it hurts." I smiled even I feel sadness wrapped in my whole being.
"I understand." He looked at me. "Your name is Aliyah, right?"
I nodded. "Why?"
He handed me a tissue and a glass of water. He even checked my dextrose. "The girl that grandpa was talking about is Aliyah."
I know... That's me. I can't say that, of course.
"He asked me to find a girl named Aliyah, same as my age. Then protect her and make her feel special because she deserves that," he said.
Henry said that? He wants his grandson to protect him because he knew that we can never see each other again.
"I found her already." He smiled then looked at me with seriousness.
I smiled. "Where is she then?" I asked even though I already knew the answer.
"She is in their house. Aliyah Gozun, my girlfriend," he said that made me shocked.
What the--
He found the wrong Aliyah.
