Chapter 55: Chapter 55

Now we were at The Ozza's penthouse. Her mother and her father were now sitting at the living room, ready to hear the story from Jazzlin. As for me and Haytham, we were just watching them.

It was Ozza family business, so only Jazzlin could explain everything from the start. I had no right to interfere.

I could clearly see Jeremy Ozza's discomfort. Naturally, because it had been a long time since he had sat across from his old family. Rose Ozza and of course her first daughter, Jazzlin Ozza.

It was such a conquering sight. They got a little awkward, but still trying to get along.

I leaned towards the door, I just looked at them from here while Haytham was silent with his own thoughts. I never thought I would be with him here, standing next to each other.

Maybe if Janielle wasn't reborn, we would still be enemies.

"Looks like we have to wait for them outside." Haytham said then walked out. I nodded even though he might not see it.

We walked away from the room as my eyes found Moorah with her mother. Her mother sent me a warm smile as I returned the same one.

As much as I knew about Yolanda Ozza, she was a very good mother for Moorah. Her attitude was generous to everyone, but she and Rose Ozza were never on good terms.

The two of them criticized each other. That's the last time I heard about them.

"Hello again, Barra." Moorah greeted me, but Yolanda Ozza sent her a glance. What's clear was that the look had its own meaning, because Moorah's face suddenly changed after that.

"Hi." I put on my poker-face. Actually I was still a little annoyed by what happened because of Moorah, but I tried to cover it up.

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Barra." Yolanda showed me her smile, "But, excuse us to finish our business." Still smiling, she grabbed her daughter's arm to rush inside. Moorah looked a bit mushy but still obeyed her mother.

I lifted my eyebrow as I continued walking until I got to the Haytham figure, "Weird family." He muttered when I got close to him.

I chuckled, "I have to say I hate having to agree with you."

He ignored my words, "If it weren't for Janielle, I wouldn't want to be close to a strange family like this." He commented again in a more flat tone.

We stood in front of the mirror near the main room, looking out over the view. There were the guards on their duty.

His words seemed like nothing, but his eyes couldn't lie. The meaning was deep. Janielle was really his top priority. And, I realized I got jealous of it.

But, I didn't have the right either. What he felt, I had felt it when I was with Jazzlin.

"Wow, I'm honored to know that." I tried to answer casually to cover up my feelings.

"Chill, what I have taken off I will not hold back." He faced me with his eyes confirming his every word.

I cleared my throat. It felt dry as if dryness was ready to devour it. My gaze shifted from him, preferring to look straight ahead, back to the window.

"I can't easily let go of someone who's precious to me except for someone I have entrusted with." He continued saying. His words hit differently in my ears.

"And I know for sure, I'm not her happiness anymore. So, I let her go because her happiness is you." He left me when his words finished, who knows where he was headed.

His words stuck to my brain. He willingly let her go for her own sake. The good side of Haytham that I never knew existed, could be seen from it.

That man looked strong from the outside even though no one knew how he felt inside his little heart.

I couldn't just let her go. I was not willing even though I felt sorry for Haytham. No one could be with me but her.

Her physique would always remind me of Jazzlin, even though her life was no longer in the body.

Through the reflection of the window, I found a triumphant smile clearly displayed on my lips.

Even many times, Haytham would always be below me. That man could never get what was belong to me.

I heaved a sigh.

Lately all the events made me tired. Things that were not easy for me now I had lunge. The storm was finally over, shedding new sunshine for a new chapter.

Being quiet and enjoying the silence really made all my muscle tension relax. My mind was in peaceful mode, accompanied by a calm feelings rushed inside my heart.

But, all the calm I just found didn't last long. The sound of shattered glass thundering violently made my body instantly had its own way of approaching the sound.

I had only one person in mind, Jazzlin. The sound exactly came from the room.

I got there, and stopped right in front of the door when I found Jeremy Ozza standing there with blood in his hand. Meanwhile, Rose Ozza was silent in her place, staring painfully at her ex-husband.

My gaze turned to Jazzlin. She was fine. I drew a deep breath as her eyes caught mine. Her eyes showed calmness, but the way her hands turned into a fists told me she was angry about something.

"You still blame Jazzlin for her mistake? Don't you realize that the core of all the problems is yourself! You have an affair behind your wife! Don't you have the brain to think ?!" Her voice screeching as she raised her tone. Her eyes stabbed sharply at Jeremy Ozza.

Her body trembled as her breathing was getting heavy. My feet didn't feel like they have brakes. All it wanted to do just to get to her. However, a hand told me to stop by grabbing my shoulder.

Haytham held me and signaled me not to go in there with a shake of his head.

Well, how much he told me not to go, I would still go to her anyway.

Not paying attention to Haytham anymore, my gaze returned to Jeremy Ozza whose became even more annoyed after those words left Jazzlin's mouth.

He walked closer to her, filled me with alert as I walked over there. Just for a moment he threw the first punch, my hand held it.

Jazzlin gasped as I stood in front of her, blocking her from her father.

"Don't interfere in my family matters!" He threw a threat when I pushed him back.

Rose Ozza screamed when her ex-husband fell. He tried to get up again, but this time Haytham held him from behind. Meanwhile, I immediately hugged Jazzlin, who now also hugged me back.

She wasn't crying, I didn't know why. Usually she cried, but not this time and it frightened me the most. I didn't know why, but I could feel how my heart got a sudden cautious.

Her body relaxed as I pulled her closer to mine.

My left hand gently stroked her fine hair when my right one was holding her cold body. Her body was in cold sweat, not as warm as usual.

She threw her face against my chest while her hands ran over my back. She seemed comfortable in the position, giving me a sense of thrill.

"I'm good." She said in her voice somewhat inaudible. I smiled in response, she knew what I wanted to ask.

"This is all untrue! You are not my daughter!" Jeremy's scream came back. We untied our hugs, but my hand were still wrapped around her waist. My eyes turned back to Jeremy, who was now trying to get away from Haytham.

I looked back to Jazzlin. She was staring to the scene in front of her mutely. Her eyes fixed on him.

"You unlucky child Jazzlin!"

Haytham forcefully pulled him again then smiled faintly. I could sense the dark paths of his mind.

"Wtf, I just realized now." His finger stroked Jeremy Ozza's face, who was now trembling, "Why do I always blame Jazzlin when the one who closed the case regarding Janielle's death is you?" His mischievous smile was back like it used to be.

"Sumedh Ainsley did it!" Jeremy insisted on taking my father's name.

My hands had started to clench, but the blonde woman next to me gripped my body closer to her so that I didn't go far from her body.

She looked up and sent me such a look.

"How about I'll lead you to the jail cell door?" Haytham's question brought our gazes back to them.

Jeremy's eyes widened at the question, "No! Please don't! This all is because of her not me!"

"Don't you dare say it again!" Haytham sent him a heavy slap, sending him tumbling to the floor.

"Stop please, don't hurt him." Rose Ozza was crying as she helped him to get up.

"You're helping the man who betrayed you in the past?" Haytham let out a heavy sigh as he told his men to bring this case to the court.

I was kinda shocked. I thought he would take action on this case through his illegal way again.

His men brought out Jeremy Ozza who kept screaming followed by Rose Ozza behind them.

Suddenly, Jazzlin's body bumped into me, making me catch her swiftly.

"Jazzlin?" I poked her cheek, but her eyes closed. There was no response from her. Panic started to get the best of me.
