Chapter 56: Chapter 56

I had to tell my truth to Jazzlin's father, so he would forgive his daughter. He used to love her so much, but because of this ... everything had changed.

Haytham insisted on joining us to Jeremy Ozza's penthouse, even though at first Barra didn't want him there. They both tried to dominate each other, but they just ended up falling in a cold war for a moment.

When I was right in front of the penthouse, my palms got cold. I rubbed my itchy eyes then prepared myself once more.

I was so restless and it really made me want to pee. Before the others got inside, I had already rushed in there to find a restroom.

I went into one of the restrooms and immediately peed. The sound of footsteps made me stop my next action.

"Jazzlin, are you in there?"

My lips pouted when I noticed it was Moorah.

For God's sake, I don't like her so why does she keep walking around in my life ?

"What do you want?" I asked as I opened the door. There wasn't only her, but also her mother.

My memories of this middle-aged woman came back. Her appearance wasn't much different from what I remembered so I recognized her well.

Yolanda Ozza.

"Don't be nasty! I saw you come in here and I followed because my mother wanted to say something to you." Moorah said as she nudged her mother's elbow.

Yolanda Ozza nodded, "I've never had time to talk to you, but I think this is the right time." She muttered. She looked like trying to string words together.

"I want to hear it when Moorah gets out of here."

Moorah glared and wanted to pounce on me, but her mother blocked her. She gave a nod to reconcile her daughter.

She walked out with the door slamming as hard as she could.

"That girl." Yolanda groaned.

"So?" I asked her to the point.

She took a deep breath, "It all started with the marriage of Jeremy and Rose, your parents. They were married and full of joy because of love, but their journey was not okay when your mother was diagnosed barren in pregnancy."

I didn't have a memory about this, so the real Jazzlin never knew about this too.

"Jeremy needed a successor for his company, and decided to adopt a child but Rose never wanted to. That woman's hopes were still high."

She looked into my eyes as she continued her story, "It was the reason why..." I lost of words when she paused.

"Their marriage relationship is not healthy."

"How do you know all this?" I didn't know why I should believe her.

"You may not believe me, but I knew all of this things when the first time I met your father. That night he got drunk and told me everything, which incidentally was just a stranger." She said that as her hands reached for me.

"I already knew you were having an affair with him, right?" I knew all of that, then why does she have to explain it again?

"Yeah, I admit that part, but even before me your father had an affair with another woman." I almost chocked at that statement.

"I swear. I forgot what the woman's name was, but the woman was pregnant too." Yolanda eyes showed me no lies.

"Then, where's the baby?!" I asked. My thoughts were runnibg wild. I was guessing that woman killed her fetus.

She didn't give me an answer, got me feeling something odd.

"She put the baby in an orphanage and the baby is a year older than you."

"She?" I got this strange feeling rushing through my veins.

Yolanda smiled, "I visited there once to see her. She's taken care of by such a good babysitter, Clarissa."

I gulped, "Name?"

"Janielle Mckeen."

My stomach felt twisted. I felt so sick as I wanted to throw up.

It was all too much to digest. My head got a little dizzy, making me run out of there. Yolanda tried to call me but I ignored her. I didn't even turn back to her.

Me, Jazzlin, and Moorah are sisters. What the heck?

"Hey, be careful." I ran with my head down so I didn't realize I had hit Haytham.

"What happened to you?" He asked, then his eyes were looking to mine.

"Where's Barra?" My question made his face fall, but he pointed to a room. Through the opened door, I could see Barra was sitting there with Rose Ozza and of course Jeremy Ozza.

I swallowed hard when Barra came out and told me to get in right away. He had no idea what things I just heard.

"You can do this." His smile strengthened me back. I told myself that I would not cry and I would no longer be crushed by this problem.

I hugged him to calm my churned heart. He gave me a confused look as we let go of our arms. His face always brought me a peace.

I stared at those eyes as I felt so lucky that I met him.

He flashed a light kiss right on my forehead, making me dumbfounded. He chuckled at my shyly reaction, "Your parents are waiting for you inside, hurry up."

Oh, right.

"I gotta go now." I answered hesitantly.

My feet stepped to the room with my body looking back many times. Barra sent me two thumbs up while Haytham watched me like he had known I was hiding something from them.

The gaze of the woman and man was fixed on me. My mother, Rose Ozza, sent me her motherly smile. Another thing with Jeremy Ozza. He glanced at me with his fingers massaging his forehead.

"Actually I have nothing to say." I said in a voice that sounded stricken.

Rose Ozza showed me a mazed face, "Oh honey, Barra told us everything but still I don't believe it. Can you explain that to clear up the misunderstanding between us?"

Jeremy Ozza sent me his intense gaze. If I could describe it, his face was full of pressure as if he was feeling pressured to do this.

"Barra tell you which part?"

"You're not Jazzlin." She answered back. Ah, I got it why Jeremy Ozza was getting tense because Barra had also told him about Janielle, my old self ... his wasted biological child.

"It's true, but I don't care if you want to believe it or not." I said as I looked into his eyes not to my mother.

His hand gripped firmly against the armrest on the seat. Anger seemed to had devoured him. His eyes glared sharply at me.

Rose Ozza looked down after my confession. She hesitated to trust me. From the movements of her eyes that never stopped looking to the right then to the left.

"Don't believe them. They are liars! She said this solely to cover up her previous mistakes. Her crazy reason is unbelievable."

It was enough for me to respect this man continuously as a father. He didn't deserve to be called a father especially after all his treatment to his daughters.

"Liar? Then what's about you? Cheater?" My all of sudden question got him standing up at once and then slammed the vase that was right on the table.

The sound of broken vase didn't make me panic. Rose Ozza woke up from her long daydream and stared in horror at him.

"Can you explain what you mean?" I really did not think she would ask me.

I smiled. Doesn't she care about her ex-husband who just threw the vase? It was a pity that his action didn't get more attention.

"You don't know? This man has left his own child in an orphanage?"

She was dumbfounded by my statement then glanced at him.

"You don't need to assemble a story like that Jazzlin! It's all because of you." He took the shard and wanted to throw it at me.

His eyes closed as he abandoned his intention, and instead threw it in another direction. It hit the empty glass, and made a loud sound.

I pressed my eyes, then opened them again, right to see Barra got shocked as he was standing in front of the door.

He was worried. His face explained it all without him telling me.

My hands were clenched to hold back my irritation.

"You still blame Jazzlin for her mistake? Don't you realize that the core of all the problems is yourself! You have an affair behind your wife! Don't you have the brain to think ?!" My emotions flowed into my voice, which was getting higher and higher. I sent him a glare back.

His eyes turned red. I could see his neck veins showed as he swallowed hard.

He walked closer making me felt the air got stuck in my throat.

A second later his hand clenched and flew towards me. A jolt escaped my mouth, and my eyes closed. However, that punch never reached me.

I opened my eyes and gasped again. Barra stood, protecting me from him.

"Don't interfere in my family matters!" Barra caught the blow, then released it, causing Jeremy to fall.

Rose Ozza's screaming voice made me giddy. This commotion made me unable to think clearly. However, the hug from the man in front of me gave me a peace.

Unable to explain what I was thinking through words, I showed it through my tight embrace. I ran my hands behind his back.
