Chapter 69: Chapter 69

No one Pov's

.

"Are you thinking about me, Pearl?" Aaron asked with a smirk while Aana's eyes widened upon hearing his words. She quickly hides her shocking reaction behind her anger.

"It's nothing like that and why would I think about you?" She asked, looking everywhere except at him.

"Then why are you averting your eyes?" He asked with a playful smirk on his lips.

"You called me in your cabin to tease me" She frowned.

"No but I'm loving it" He chuckled then looked back at the file he was holding.

"Answer my few questions. So that I can know your efficiency and knowledge at this point of time" Aaron muttered. She nodded her head. He started asking her a few questions related to work and then smiled proudly when she answered everything correctly.

"How is your typing or writing speed?" he asked the last question before closing the file.

"It's not so good but I will surely improve it."

"How?" Aana scrunched her eyebrow at his question.

"Do you have a laptop at home?"

"Laptop... Here I don't have a single meal to fill our stomach" Aana muttered under her breath, laughing at her situation. It's not that she wants the devices but his question made her remember the morning incident when she was about to eat stale bread. Aaron was dumb-headed after hearing her. Because of Rex's power, he heard what she mumbled to herself.

He quickly hides his emotions behind an impassive look when Aana lifts her head to look at him, not realising that he might have heard her.

"No, I don't have a laptop," She muttered. He nodded his head and stood up from the chair.

"Company will provide you a laptop and mobile for the work"

"Why mobile?"

"To contact you" He shrugged his shoulders.

"Wow… What an answer... I didn't know that phones are used to connect with others," she mocked. He bit his cheeks to control himself from smiling.

"This is a way to talk with your boss, Aana," he said in a strict tone making her body stern. She doesn't expect him to come into boss mode all of the sudden. Soon she realised that he was messing with her when he started laughing at her reaction.

"Let's go," he said and stood up from the chair, ignoring her glare.

"Where?" She asked

"We have to visit a factory. You will record my conversations with the supervisor and workers. Also, observe everything because, in the end, you have to make a report on it."

"Report?" Aana asked nervously.

"Yes, and you have to submit it to me tomorrow at 1.00 pm."

"You're joking, right?" Aana asked, looking at him shockingly like two horns had popped up on his head.

"No Aana... I'm serious. Now don't waste time and come with me" Before she could say something. He handed her, his phone after opening the voice recording and headed towards his car. She quickly followed him.

The whole day she spends her time with Aaron visiting the factory and then in the evening, he takes her to the restaurant.

"Now, this dinner date is also a part of my job" Aana snarled when he ordered food for both of them, knowing she won't order anything for herself.

"Well, No... I was starving and since you're with me, I have ordered food for two people."

"I'm not starving" She lied. The entire day, she was working with Aaron and because of that, she was feeling ravenous.

"Liar." He chuckled at her cute attitude Then leaned towards her.

"I can't let my girl stay hungry when I'm having food" He winked and then smiled when he heard her increased heartbeat. She kept looking into his eyes. It's now become her favourite work as it made her feel special and also happy that someone is there to love her. Their eye contact broke when the waiter served the food. She didn't argue further and started having her dinner. He smiled and started eating his food while looking at her every other minute.

After completing dinner, Aaron ordered a dessert for them. They were sitting near a window. Aana was looking outside it and Aaron was looking at her.

"Pearl" She looked at his side when he called her.

"Thank you" He mumbled. she scrunched her eyebrow.

"Why?"

"For joining me for dinner and also for calling this simple dinner a 'dinner date," He said with a sweet smile. She recalled her words when they entered the restaurant.

"Now, this dinner date is also a part of my job"

Aana was about to deny that she didn't mean an actual date but then stopped seeing his smile. A smile came on her face realising her small thing made him so happy.

"Ice cream," he muttered with an excited tone. A smile vanished from her lips, remembering one of the moments with Vince. She used to fight with Vince for the ice cream and never let him eat.

"I'm full" she mumbled and stood up.

"Aana" Before he could complete it, Aana went outside the restaurant. It would be a lie if he said that he didn't feel bad but he didn't prefer to say anything and came out after paying the bill, only to find Aana standing, leaning on the car and looking at the sky.

He wanted to ask her what happened suddenly then dropped the idea seeing her teary-eyed. Aana sat in the front seat following Aaron who sat in the driving seat. They both were silent the whole ride.

Aana hopped down from the car and looked at Aaron who was staring at her only. She wanted to apologise for her behaviour at the restaurant but no words came out of her mouth at that moment. she took a deep breath and a tear rolled from her eyes which she quickly wiped off. For the first time, after Vince's death, she was not crying remembering her first love but for Aaron.

"You should reject me, Aaron. This mate bond is killing you" Aana mumbled bowing her wet eyelids. Aaron sighed and hopped down from the car and went to her side, standing in front of her.

"I will repeat my words, Pearl." He held her chin and made her look into his eyes.

"You can't stop me from loving you... You can't and you have no right to do so." He muttered and kissed her forehead. She closed her eyes and pushed him away.

"At last, you will be alone"

"I won't because I know, one day my love will win your heart" He muttered with a big smile. Aana didn't reply and went towards her room while Aaron kept looking at her until she disappeared from his view.

"It would be hard to win her heart" Rex muttered, feeling sad because of her rude way.

"To be honest, now I don't want to win her heart, '' Aaron said while sitting in the driving seat.

"What do you mean?" Rex asked, not able to believe whether what he heard was true or not.

"You heard me, Rex" Aaron scoffed and started driving towards his home, blocking Rex who started yelling at him. He called his Beta, Patrick, who is also his best friend.

"After a long time, Alpha" Patrick schmoozes.

"I'm not your Alpha, Patrick" he growled, making Patrick shiver in fear even on call.

"I'm sorry"

"I need your help," Aaron muttered after calming himself.

"I'm always there for you."

"I need wolfsbane and you know that it should not be normal wolfsbane but a heavy dose which can control me, A Lycan... You invented it once for dad. I want you to make that for me also" Patrick's eyes widened hearing his words, remembering how painful that wolfsbane was for his former Alpha. That special wolfsbane controlled Aaron's dad's lycan but it made his dad's condition vulnerable.

"You mean to say that high dose wolfsbane?" he asked to confirm.

"Yes that"

"But why?" He shrieked.

"I'm not answerable to you. Send it to my office as soon as possible."

"But" Aaron cut the call before Patrick could have said something further and parked his car in the basement of his house.

"I'm sorry, Rex for the pain, I'm going to give you." He sighed and leaned on his chair, thinking about Aana and her reaction to the things he is about to do.
