Aaron encircled his hand around my waist to calm me through mate bond and somehow it worked. I looked at my mate before turning my head towards Monika who was looking at us with teary eyes. The way she was looking at us I could feel she was hurt and in pain. I recalled the incident when I entered this pack and how Monika asked Aaron why he rejected her proposal for me.

"Are you mad at me for rejecting your proposal?" Aaron asked in confusion. I turned my head towards him.

"Which Proposal?" I stuttered, feeling insecure. Monika is a beautiful woman and perfect for Luna's position who won't be insecure of her.

"Yeah… My health worsened because of wolfsbane, I took in the misunderstanding that you cheated on me. That time, Monika was taking care of me. When I got a little better she proposed to me to marry her. I thought she did it out of sympathy. I didn't know that she had feelings for me," he replied.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked and removed his hand from my waist angrily. The thing he didn't tell me increased my anxiety. It's not that I don't trust him or his love. I'm just possessive of him.

"It slipped from my head. moreover, it's not such an important thing" He shrugged his shoulders like it was not a big matter.

"Yeah… Why it would be important for you. it is me who loves you and got betrayed in return" Monika said getting malevolent.

"I didn't betray you, Monika. I never reciprocated your feelings. I rejected your proposal at that time only. Still, if my actions made you feel that I had something for you then I'm sorry." He replied and I can say he is honest with his words.

"Your sorry is nothing in front of the pain I suffer because of you" she yelled and looked at me with hatred-filled eyes. "Because of her only you rejected me. It was me who meant to be your Luna but she took my place" She took her steps towards me but before she would have touched a single strand of my hair. Rex took control of Aaron and growled at her. She shivered and kneeled in front of me. She held her neck because of suffocation as Rex was using his aura to choke her to death.

"Rex... Leave her" I said, holding his arm. He nodded his head negatively and pulled me closer holding my waist.

"she has to pay for the stunt she played. how dare she try to harm you?" He growled, making me shiver. His aura isn't affecting me as he marked me but still, it makes me shiver. I kept my hand on his chest, above his heart, trying my best to calm her, not wanting him to do something because of what they regret later.

"Please leave her, mate" I hugged him. "Please". Thankfully my plea worked. He stopped releasing his aura. A smile broke on my lips realising only I could tame this beast. I broke the hug and looked at him with a smile, knowing how much he loved my smile and always got calm.

"Thank you"

"I spare your life because of our mate otherwise" he threatened Monika who was gasping for air, coughing, trembling and crying. Rex gave the control. to Aaron. He looked at me only to catch me staring at him.

"Rex gave you control. Why doesn't he spend time with me anymore?" I asked in a low tone. I missed him. After Alice's death, he didn't spend much time with me. The moment in the past when he took control, he only got angry at me because of a misunderstanding that I cheated on him and last time when he took control, he just apologised to me for everything and gave control to Aaron. After that, he didn't take control or talk to me. I miss him.

Aaron didn't answer me as it was not the right place to talk about it. Patrick came towards Monika and made her stand holding her from the shoulder. She kept her head on his chest while sobbing.

"You might be hurt, Monika, because I rejected you in the past but everyone knows I love my mate. I'm sorry" Aaron said, not liking the way she was crying miserably. He is like this only, can't see his people in pain. She stopped crying and looked at our side.

"Your mate came into your life when you were twenty-two but I was with you from childhood. My whole life I loved you and what you did? you choose your fated mate" She said in a painful voice. My eyes widened with her words and Vince's memories flashed in my mind. He was also in love with me since childhood.

"Monika" Marry came towards Monika and hugged her. "There is no point talking about it, Monika. moreover, I'm sure, Aaron didn't know about it"

"How could it be possible that I know everything but he doesn't?" She sobbed.

"May I know what you're talking about, Marry and what I don't know?" Aaron asked, looking at everyone in confusion.

"Your father decided to marry you with Monika when you were out of the country for your studies." Aaron's eyes widened upon hearing her which was a clear indication that he didn't know a single thing about it. I turned my head towards Monika and Marry.

"What?" He yelled in shock.

"Yes... your and Monika's father were best friends and you two also have a good bond. They decided that you would mark Monika and she would become the next Luna. That's the only reason why Monika shifted to this pack after former Alpha's death" I look at my mate to see his reaction. Just like me, he was also stunned to speak anything after learning the truth.

"All the time she loves you thinking one day you will two mark each other but everything changes after Alpha and Luna's death. You left the pack but Monika didn't, in the hope that one day you would come back and mark her as your chosen mate. One day you will realise your responsibility towards Pack and her. She left her family and packed only for you. She loved you with everything but destiny has another plan for her. All her hope that one day you will come back shattered with the news that you found your mate. She was broken beyond repair. It has become almost impossible to handle her." Tears fell from my eyes. I can't even imagine the pain she went through and how her condition was when she came to know that the person she loves all the time is committed to someone else. I looked at Aaron when I felt his emotion because of the mate bond. He was feeling guilty for unintentionally becoming the reason for Monika's pain.

"She went to your wedding to meet you and asked why you didn't tell her before that you found your mate unaware that you don't have any idea about the decision of the former Alpha. Before she would have questioned you, we received the parcel in which you saw the pictures of Aana with her ex." Patrick said, holding Monika through her waist preventing her from falling as she was crying bitterly.

"When I found out that your mate cheated on you, a hope rose in my mind that finally, the moon goddess heard my prayers. My love brings you closer to me. I took care of you until you recovered and then I confessed my feelings to you in the hope that you would reciprocate my feelings but you rejected my proposal despite your mate cheating on you" Monika whimpered, looking at my mate who was looking at her dumbstruck. She parted away from Patrick and went closer to Aaron.

"Aana told everyone that you took this position to fulfil Alpha Watson's wish then marked me as your chosen mate because it was also your father's wish. He wanted us to get married. Fulfil his this wish as well" My eyes grew wider upon hearing words and blood went cold. Aaron could do anything for his parents. I looked at my mate, waiting for him to deny or push her away as she was standing close to her but he didn't... He didn't say a single word to her which was enough to scare my soul. I was looking at him when suddenly everything started getting blurry around my eyes. I felt like someone was trying to take control from me.

"Aaron" I hold his arms to prevent myself from falling.

"Pearl, what happened?" he asked, holding me through my waist and in the next moment darkness consumed me and I tripped in Aaron's arms.
