Chapter 92: Chapter 92
Jason remembered that it was just about a week to Christmas and he was yet to throw the traditional party for his employee to celebrate their success through the year.
'Nancy is not aware of this tradition', he thought. 'I shall have to intimate her about it'.
As he drove home he thought of how the party would go. He was going to ask his sister and her family over for the holiday. He hoped that they had not made other plans.
'Sally?'
'Hello, Jason. How are you doing?'
'Fine. How are Chris and the children?'
'They are fine and send their love. Hope they will be getting gifts from you this holiday? They have been asking me this since they realised it was almost Christmas's.
'That is why I am calling actually. I wanted to know if you had plans for the holiday?'
'Chris has not really told me of any plans, though it is not that he does not have. He may have but he likes revealing it last minute but why?'
'I was thinking of inviting you and your family, Chris too of course to spend the hols with me, that way, I won't have to send their gifts but give it to them directly'.
'Oh, Jason, that's a wonderful idea! It's been long since last they saw you. And I know they will be over the moon with the news of this visit. Will you be throwing a party for the company as you always did?'
'Hw could you even ask? It is a tradition' that I am not willing to discard anytime soon'
Alright then I shall speak to Chris and get back to you'.
'You do that and please send my love to them all'.
'One more thing, how is Phoebe? You are still with her aren't you?' Sally asked.
'Sally, when you come, we shall talk about it. A lot has taken place since the last time you visited and I did not feel it right to tell you any of these on the phone. It is better talked about face to face'
'Is there a problem?'
'No. None but I would like for you to help with something. But it has to wait till you arrive. Bye!'
'Okay, and bye'.
After the call, Jason heaved a sigh that was taken care of. He knew that his sister was going to be able to convince her husband about spending the hols with him. So he did not envisaged any problems with that.
When he got home, he wanted to go see Nancy before going in but he heard her voice in the kitchen discussing with Mrs. Potts and he was glad that she was stronger now.
'Welcome, Mr. Campbell', Mrs. Potts and Bryan greeted simultaneously.
'Welcome, Jason' Nancy greeted.
'Good evening everybody. I just want to announce that we all should start getting ready for out traditional end of year party for the company. Any suggestions on how to make this year's celebration better and different from the others will be welcomed and appreciated.
I have also spoken to my sister and though she has promised to speak to her husband, I know that she will be here with her sons at least'. he said and went in.
Discussions on the forth coming party filled the air.
Nancy knew that it was not time to speak to him about Phoebe's conspiracy.
'His sister? What kind of person is she?' she asked Mrs. Potts.
'She lives in London with her husband and two sons. She was the one who helped him get over his wife's betrayal. If she had not been there, I do not know what would have become of Me. Campbell. He was already a goner. He had no wish to live and who would blame him, the two people he loved and trusted most in his life betraying him that way. I was always thinking that he never really got over Rebecca but since he saw her, he has not been acting like he wanted her back into his life and I feel that it is because of you. You have filled the void in his heart and that is why there was no space for Rebecca to reoccupy there.
You will get along with Mrs. Whitman. That's Mr. Campbell's sister. She was the one who kept match making until Phoebe came into Mr. Campbell's life but if she hears that she is that sort of person, I know she will not be very happy. Who would want her own blood to suffer such a fate twice.
Bruno is the person who will better tell you what we passed through that period. It was he who sent for Mrs. Whitman and thank goodness that he did.
The preparations for the Christmas party continued.
Jason was determined to give his employees a treat. They had all worked very hard and he specially wanted to impress Nancy. Not that he felt that he would succeed, she was not moved by any show of wealth but he just wanted her to have a nice time and be happy.
Two days to the party, Mrs. Whitman, Jason's sister arrived with her two children. The driver was sent to go to the airport and bring her home.
'Good day ma'am', Felix greeted.
'Good day Felix. Why did you come? Is Jason not around?'
'He regrets he would be able to come here to take you home himself. He is in a crucial meeting at the moment. It was all last minute and he sent me here instead. I am sorry'.
'Sorry for what? It isn't your fault. At least you are here and we shall still get home. That is the most important thing'. she said smiling disarmingly at Felix. Who packed their luggage in the boot of the car and drove them home.
When she got to the house, she was caught up with the festive mood and started organizing. She knew very well how to organize parties and was a good hostess.
Her son's were doted on by the domestic helps and they were glad to be in the house of their uncle Jason.
'But where is uncle Jason?' Vera, her daughter asked.
'Does he not know we are here?' Vaughn, her son asked, looking round.
'He does but he is in a crucial meeting and could not come to take us home from the airport. You know he always does that himself and the meeting is still not over. But as soon as it is, he will be here. Promise', their mother consoled them.
