Chapter 155: Chapter 155

'What is it Campbell? Did Nancy fall unconscious again?', Dr.Parker, the specialist doctor in charge of Namcy asked.

'No such thing but I do not know if this is worse or not!'

'What is it then ?'

'She cannot remember anything including her name. She asked who I was and just assumed that since I told her she was in the hospital when she asked, that I must be a doctor. What could be responsible for that?'

'Oh, it is Amnesia and it is fairly common with patients with injuries to the head. I did not tell you this earlier because I felt there was no need to get you unnecessarily worked up because she might not have it. Some patients are lucky not to experience amnesia and I had hoped Nancy was going to be one of such people'.

'Yes, but what do we do now? Is there a treatment she had to undergo to restore her memory?'

'No. Try here is none that I would recommend. It would be dangerous. Allow the memories come back on their own. As her memories come back, it would come in flashes of confusing light and scenes but she will eventually regain her memory'.

'How long will that take?'

'It is not certain. It could be a day, a week, a year, ten years..., nobody can say.But do not allow her stress herself by trying to force her to recall anything, it could have adverse effect as she might have a relapse. Let the memories come naturally on their own'.

'This reminds me doctor, she complained of headaches just now. There must be drugs to relieve her of that at least isn't there?' Jason asked really discouraged but determined not to give up.

'Of course and I have other treatments to administer to her as well to hasten her physical recovery'.

They went back into Nancy's ward where they found her asleep and the brooth covered and placed on the table beside her.

The doctor injected her. 'That should relieve her of her headache. But she will still have slight headaches from time to time but we are going to give her some drugs to take care of that and prescribe others for you to get for her. She should be okay in no time but she needs extra care and no one should force any memory on her. Allow her regain her memories herself'.

Jason shook his head.

'I know it can be very frustrating but that is how it should be done if we are to get any positive results', the doctor advised.

'It's okay doctor, we shall do our best'. Jason promised.

They stayed in the hospital for three more days and we're discharged because Jason promised to get a private nurse for Nancy and told the doctor that there were alot of people at home to care for her.

Phoebe had been dreading the homecoming of Nancy. She had wanted to get her out of the way but had succeeded in ingraining her in Jason's heart.

He could never forget what the both of them passed through.

The good thing there was that the thought of redoing the test had gone off Jason's mind because of his preoccupation with Nancy but she knew that the issue would soon be revisited irrespective of Nancy's recovery.

Nancy was given a grand welcome. She could not understand what the fuss was all about but if these people decided that they would make a big deal of her discharge from the hospital, then that was their business.

She found out though that she rather liked that good man who had told him that he was a doctor helping her doctor in her treatment. He had such compassionate and compelling eyes.

It must be his house they had brought her do that she could recuperate faster.

'Welcome back, Nancy', Sally said smiling at her. She was never against Nancy. It was just that she did not want any paternity problems with her pregnancy later because she was protective of her brother and didn't want him getting hurt.

'Thank you ma'am'.

The servants had been asked to clean up a very spacious room in the mansion for her. Nancy would no longer be staying in the quarters. This was so that she could get the care she needed easily and be monitored.

The table was set and all was invited to the table.

Nancy felt uncomfortable with all the people around but could do nothing about it.

She could not eat much but just a little.

'What is this place called?' Nancy asked to ease the tension because she felt that all seem to focus on her.

'Don't you remem....', Phoebe was going to ask before Jason interrupted.

'It is called the Campbell's Mansion'.

'A mansion, that name sure aptly describes it. It is indeed a mansion. Do big and spacious and beautiful. I am glad you brought me here'.

Jason smiled sadly and thought that he just didn't want to bring her to his house as a guest but as his lover, as his friend, as his wife as the mother of his children.

He was shocked at his train of thoughts but that was the truth.

Phoebe was thinking, 'So she has really lost her memory? That is good. I could use it against her. I could poison her mind against Jason so that she never wants to go near him again. I hope the amnesia lingers till I have established my place in this home'.

She looked at Nancy and smiled, 'You are not eating, Nancy. You should eat and recover quickly for yourself and your unborn baby', she said and everyone looked at her as though she had lost it.

They had been hiding the news of her pregnancy from her because it could lead her to wanting to know how she got pregnant and who the father of the baby was and other such questions whose answer she was not ready for at the moment because her brain could not process it at the moment.

'Pregnant? Am I pregnant?' Phoebe feigned shock.

'You mean no one has told her? What if she does what she is not supposed to be ause she is ignorant of that fact and it harms the baby?' she had decided that the way to make Nancy trust her above others was to be one friendly with her and tell her things others were hiding from her.
