Chapter 143: Chapter 143

Alfred had waited in the hotel for Jason to teach him but he hadn't and when he had called to find out what was going on there, Jason had not picked nor responded. That was when he started having the premonition that something was terribly wrong.

To add to this feeling of unease was the fact that Richmond himself had not made an appearance. He could have called his sister but didn't have her number until he decided to check the phone directory where he got the mansion's number and called.

He was surprised at the way the phone was picked up without delay and it was a man called Chris and Alfred guessed it must be Jason's in law.

'May I speak with Jason please?'

'Who are you?'

'Oh sorry. I am Alfred. I was the one who went out on a date with Nancy'.he said.

'So you are the one who has caused us all these problem', Chris said with amusement in his voice. ' A lot has happened since then. I am surprised you are not aware of it'.

'Jason sent me to London to go visit Richmond's office and home and I have reported to him since then but he asked me to stick around for further instructions but I have not heard from him since then and he isn't answering his calls either. So I decided to call his home'. Alfred said. 'But what do you mean about alot having happened since then?'

'Jason was able to trace the location of Richmond and found Nancy but he was alone. He tried intimating the police but someone tampered with the connection and information and before they could get there, there has been a massive shootout where Jason was trying to save Nancy from being molested and gang raped.

Jason got shot twice. on the shoulder, close to the chest and the leg. He lost alot of blood and has not come around yet. That is why he has not answered your calls or contacted you'.

'Jesus!', Alfred whispered in shock. 'What about Nancy?' he asked in a very frightened tone.

'She was shot on the head and the bullet lodged in a sensitive part of the brain. She has undergone surgery but still in coma. Nobody knows if she will wake from it or not and if she does if she would regain ful control of her faculties or remain a baby forever. The case is really critical', Chris informed him sadly. He had really liked Nancy and was not happy at the turn of events.

He was happy knowing that Jason was finally going to know happiness but now, he was not so sure because this would hurt him even more than the pain he experienced at the betrayal of his ex wife.

'Oh My God!', Alfred exclaimed.

He felt faint. And she was pregnant! he thought. Then he was filled with a fury he could not control.

'Alright. He will be told to call you or you can come back and see them for yourself', Chris said dismissively and Alfred knew that he was about to end the call.

'Wait! Wait for a minute longer, please. Was Rodney apprehended?'

'Yes he was. Apparently, trying to escape being raped by him, Nancy stabbed him which led to his goons shooting at her and Jason as they tried to escape. Bur he was apprehended alright together with three of his goons. Though one of the goons who seem to be the head goon escaped. The police are still looking for him'.

'Thanks alot for the information's, Alfred said and hung up.

He felt a bit relieved that Nancy was able to inflict some sort of injury on the man who had made her life a nightmare but it was not enough. Richmond had to be destroyed a d he would make sure of it.

He didn't need to wait for Jason to tell him what to do. He would do what he could you destroy him before other forms of destruction befell him.

Chris shook his head as he heard the dial tone and kept back the phone handle in it's cradle.

Ife was really a mess.

Sometimes, things just didn't go the way they ought. He knew that he would have to go back soon but he would of course leave his wife here to care for her brother and keep him from doing anything stupid.

Richmond himself had also received treatment because his injuries though not fatal, was serious.

He had been stabbed on both sides of his ribs and his hand as well.

Chris smiled. Nancy was really a fighter. He hoped that she would fight her way through this coma and brain issue.

And the only person who could help her with it was Jason.

He got ready to go back to the hospital. The children had been asking him to take them to see their uncle and he was going to do just that now that Jason was conscious again.

Their presence might just help to stabilize Jason's riotous emotions.

They got to the hospital and against the doctor's instructions, Jason had gone to Nancy's ward and was sitting in a chair beside her bed where she had been placed on life support machines.

He was speaking gently to her and sobbing silently.

Chris saw this from the glass on the door of the ward and went quietly back to the reception, giving Jason the privacy he knew that Jason needed.

He played and spoke to his children and when they asked where their uncle was since he was not in his hospital room, he exchanged glances with his wife who had told him where Jason had gone to.

Phoebe had complained of some discomfort of some sort and Sally had advised her to go home and get some rest.

She was also planning to go home and have a shower as well as a change of clothes and something to eat,now that her husband was there with the children.

When she had embarked on this journey, she had thought that she was coming to have the time of her life but this was even worse than the time she had come to visit her brother to help him recover from his ex wife's betrayal and all this because if that girl Nancy.

She had always known that the girl was trouble and now look at the gigantic problem she had brought to them and a celebration which had been going so well, all things considered was now a nightmare.

She was not happy that Nancy was in that condition but she would have been happier if she had never come into her brother's life in the first instance then he wouldn't have been going through this emotional and psychological trauma. She was not even talking about the physical pain.

He was leaping now and she hoped that his leg would heal completely and he would walk again with that attractive gait he was known for.

She shook her head sadly as she got her things ready to go home.
