Chapter 124: Chapter 124

Alfred led Nancy to the floor where other couples were dancing.

Nancy stole a glance at Jason from under her lashes and saw that he had an ugly frown on his face.

It gave her a kind of satisfaction.

The music was slow and as they danced, Alfred drew her closer and whispered something in her ears.

She was not amused but she laughed and said 'Thank you', because she was determined to make Jason sweat.

Without seeming to look his way, she stole a glance Jason's way again and seeing that he was still looking their way with murder in his eyes, she moved closer to Alfred, her hands went round his neck and she whispered something in his ears as well.

Alfred smiled his thanks at the compliment she paid him.

He tipped her face up and looked deeply into her eyes with Nancy praying that he does not kiss her. She was not attracted to him that way. She said something to divert his attention and rested her head on his shoulder. That way, she avoided being kissed by him and at the same time did not hurt him but made him feel special and wanted.

She knew it was unfair of her to use him this way but she just could not help herself. She was hurting and wanted Jason to feel a little bit of the same pain she was feeling.

When the song ended, they went back to their chair. Nancy feeling very grateful that the song ended when it did.

Someone was there watching the scene.

He had come for Nancy but saw her get into a car with that you g gentle man and had thought that it was the best opportunity for him to do what he came from.

Now that she was away from the mansion, her guard would be down and there won't be anyone guarding her as well, so, it would be easier getting her.

Then he saw Jason get into his car and followed them and decided to watch before taking any action. He followed them to the high class hotel where they dined and saw Jason watching them.

At first he thought that it was a trap being set for him by Jason who wanted to mislead him into thinking that Nancy was out and free for grabs so that he could be caught red handed and arrested for abduction.

But as events unfolded, he became somewhat confused. Jason did not look happy at all and Nancy was acting as though she was besotted with the young man.

What was happening? The way Jason had spoken when they spoke last, it had been clear what his feelings towards Nancy was, and even the way he looked at her could not be faked but so also could the smitten look in the young man's face with whom Nancy was dinning.

Could it be that Nancy was in love with the both if them and was undecided which to choose?

Rodney was amused by the thought. It gave him a kind of perverse satisfaction to see how the action of the couple was affecting Jason. It was visible to all present that he was spying on them and filled with jealous Fury but could do nothing about it because he was not one to cause a scene.

Rodney laughed. Jason thought that he had won but what was playing out before his eyes was really enough punishment and he decided to allow the scene to go on for a little while longer. He actually wanted to know how the whole thing was going to end.

He was still going to get Nancy for himself but if not today, then tomorrow. He enjoyed watching Jason suffer in silence this way.

Jason had to hold himself in control. He wanted to walk up to the dancing couple whispering sweet nothings to each other and whisk Nancy away from there. He felt like giving her a good thrashing and giving Alfred a punch that would result in a black eye.

He barely restrained himself because he knew that people who knew him might just be there.

'You were going to tell me about yourself before the dance. I really want to know more about you, Nancy dear', Alfred said looking at her with unmasked desire.

Nancy was scared of what she saw in his eyes and felt that she could not put off telling him about herself before he found out for himself and think that she had been leading him on or deceiving him.

'Alfred, I am not really what you think I am'.

'What do you mean by that?'

'You do not want to know about me, trust me', she said thinking of the best way to tell him what she must.

'Let me be the judge of that', he said.

'Well you see, I am pregnant and the father of the baby abandoned me but Jason rescued me when I would have ended my misery by taking my own life.

I do not want to lead you on. This was the reason, I had not wanted us to go out on a date or for you to visit me but you insisted and at that time you were a stranger to me and I couldn't just start divulging my life history to a total stranger'.

As she spoke she looked towards Jason and Rodney saw something in her eyes that he had seen before but refused to acknowledge.

Nancy was in love with Jason. How could he not have seen this before or maybe he was the one denying it because he had wanted so much for Nancy to be his.

He looked at Jason and saw him looking at Nancy and saw what looked like anguish etched on his face before he quickly made his face expressionless and looked away when he caught Alfred looking at him.

'Oh goodness', Alfred thought to himself, 'Campbell is smitten with her as well'.

'How could I not have noticed this?' When they had danced together at the party, he had thought that it was a boss being courteous to his employee. It had not occured to him to wonder why Nancy was the only employee he danced with but he had danced with other women too but those may have been friends and acquitance.

He rubbed his thumb on his eyes. He really liked Nancy. Then something occured to him, she had said something he had ignored but which just sank in.

Her first statement had been that she was pregnant.
