Chapter 120: Chapter 120

'Okay dear, if you were able to deduce all these about Phoebe, only moments after meeting with her, then what do you think of Nancy?' Sally asked.

'I know what I have deduced from her as well but I shall give a better diagnosis if I knew more about her pregnancy and why that man had wanted to see the both of you Jason?' he phrase it as a question.

Jason had wanted it to remain a secret from his sister. And still did.

'Come with me for a walk round the premises, there is something I need to discuss with you'. Jason said walking out.

'I asked a question and I need answers', Sally said as her husband followed Jason out.

'You will have your answers but it shall have to wait for now. business calls.

They walked for sometime but Jason did not say anything. He seemed to be deep in thought.

Chris felt sure that he must have forgotten that he was there with him

Oh, the trouble women caused men. The pain of the heart was not easy to resolve. He felt pity for Jason because he knew the indecision he was faced with.

They could not continue to walk like this the whole day, so Chris coughed and asked, 'You had something you wanted to speak to me about?'

'Yes', Jason said with a jerk but almost at once became absentminded.

Chris felt that this was serious and that it concerned Nancy. Only a woman could cause a man to be this disoriented.

'Jason', he said calming holding him so that he stopped in mid stride. 'Tell me about it. It concerns Nancy doesn't it?'

'Chris, I am so confused and angry. Do you know that Richmond is the person responsible for Nancy's pregnancy? He came to take her away. Or that was what he said. He also said if she didn't come to her willingly, he was going to sue us both to court.

We tried to call his bluff, telling him the court won't give him custody since he abandoned the mother and unborn baby.

Nancy even reminded him that he had asked her to abort the baby and asked him if he would be claiming the child if she had done that.

He seemed unmoved even when I asked him why he suddenly had a change of heart and if his wife and marriage he had been protecting then no longer needed protection.

He didn't answer but left threatening to take us to court and get what was rightfully his'.

'So the problem is that you are scared that he might win the court case should he make good his threat?' Chris asked looking Jason in the eye.

'That is part of it. Another is that I had not asked Nancy to marry me, though I had it in mind for a long time and in anger I voiced it before Richmond. Telling him that I was going to get married to Nancy and have already taken her baby as mine and that it would be given my name.

That was the first time she was hearing that and I suppose that though it was a sincere decision, and I had said it to support her against Richmond, she might wonder at that kind of proposal and after he left, she asked me how I could be serious about getting married to her when I had unresolved issues and by that she meant Phoebe and her pregnancy. You see, the whole thing is complicated and I fear Richmond might want to harm her in some way'.

'That might be true. He has realised that Nancy would not come to him of her own accord and must have noticed what I noticed immediately I came in that the both of you are crazy in love with each other and can't seem to keep your eyes off each other. You keep undressing her with your eye or he might have noticed it from your pictures in the gossip column which drove him to jealously seek her out to lay claim on her.

His wife and her family are very rich as you know and he would not want to and antagonize them in any way, so that he is not cut off but there is a rumor that his marriage is having problems. Could that be why he wants Nancy and the baby now? To replace his wife or get back at her or something but until he breaks off with his wife which I cannot see him doing in a long while, he can't go to court for such a thing. He is too scared of his wife and her family.

You should also give Nancy time. As for loving you. She does. She cannot deny it. I am basing my judgement based on what I have noticed.

Resolve you issues with Phoebe and then speak to her again. I am sure everything will be okay, then but be careful of Phoebe. You know the saying, 'Hell hath no fury than a woman scorned' and advise Nancy to be careful from henceforth. I wouldn't put it past Rodney to abduct her just to prove his point to you or to spite you and you may not be able to provide evidence that he was responsible.

Afterall, he was going to sue you, why would he do such a thing and implicate himself? That is how his defence would sound.

So all in all make your decisions with a cool head and not in anger because that always ends up being a mistake', Chris advised patting Jason on the back.

Jason knew that all Chris had told him was the truth and very possible but he also knew that Chris was telling him that it was his problem and that he should face it squarely as a man and solve it as such.

'Thank you very much, Chris. You have been more of a help than you might realise'.
