Chapter 121: Chapter 121

'Please, from henceforth, be careful. Richmond' is a man of questionable character. I know him. He might try to take you forcefully'. Jason advised.

'I am not a child and I know Rodney. I am carrying his illegitimate child afterall and saying this is not going to stop me from moving out as I have planned. I had better be abducted by the devil I know Rodney to be than stay in a deceptive paradise that you provide', Nancy retorted.

'It is because you are not a child and I cannot watch over you twenty four- seven that I am giving you this warning and how can you protect yourself if you are alone out there somewhere with no one to watch over you?', Jason asked exasperated.

He had thought that, she would be grateful for his concern but he was wrong. She just did not give a damn and Chris was telling him how he was sure Nancy loved him? He must have blurry vision. How can someone be as stubborn as this?

Nancy walked away from him. They had seen in the compound as Nancy came to get something edible from the kitchen.

She could not understand why he keeps thinking that she was unwise.

She knew that Rodney would act something funny and she had prepared herself for that eventuality.

She went back in and slept. She was just too tired with all the arguments and all. She decided to keep the door to her room shut at all times at least till she left.

Rodney can only come looking for her in the Campbell's mansion but would not know where to see her if she moved out.

She woke with a start when her phone rang.

She picked it, wondering who it could be but it turned out to be Alfred.

'Hello Nancy. Just called to wish you a blissful Christmas. I have tried calling you earlier but it would seem that you are not with your phone's, he said cheerfully.

'Yes, I was in the mansion celebrating with the whole family. How is your family and how are you finding the celebrations?' she asked, happy to have something to divert her attention from her worries.

'I was wondering if we could for dinner tomorrow evening?'

Nancy knew that she had made herself clear to him when she had told him that she did not want to be in any relationship with anyone but it was holiday and celebration was in the air. She could not live her whole life sorrowing or in fear of being abducted by Rodney and moreover, he couldn't try anything funny when he saw her with someone and in an open place too.

'I'd love to!' she said before she could change her mind.

Alfred was beside himself with joy.

'I shall pick you up at seven. And Nancy?'

'Yes?'

'Thank you', he said and rang off.

Nancy did not know what to think. She hoped that he knew that she was pregnant. Anyway, if he didn't, then he would soon find out, most probably on their date.

The next day, Nancy did not know why but she felt somewhat uneasy.

'Nancy, we are going horse riding today. Will you come with us? Uncle Jason will be with us as well'.

Nancy looked up and saw Jason looking at her with an expression, she could not interprete but it was intense and she looked away, her face red.

'No, I possibly couldn't ', she said looking at the children she had grown to love.

'Why ever not?'

'Well for one, I have certain things to tidy up and I have to rest as well'.

'But we shan't be long and when you come back, you can do all those things. We sure won't spend the whole day horse riding or are we?' Vaughn asked looking at his uncle.

'Of course not, Vaughn', he said addressing his nephew but his eyes were glued to Nancy's.

'You see? And let me let you in on the best part of it

We shall also have a picnic by the seaside'.

The mention of the sea, reminded Nancy of her time in the pool with Jason and she flushed and looked at Jason who must have read her thoughts accurately because his eyes darkened with desire and he smiled seductively at her.

More to injure his male pride and show him that his smile had no effect on her, she blurted out, 'That is all good. I hope you have much fun but I can't come. You see I have to prepare for my date this evening'.

'Date? Uncle are you taking Nancy out?'

'Not me but she could at least have the courtesy to tell us who she is going out with', Jason said through gritted teeth. His eyes dark with anger.

Nancy ignored him and was going to turn and walk away, when Jason turned her around roughly.

'Who are you going out with?' he asked angrily.

'It is none of your business. Do I question you about those you spend your time with or those you take out on dates? What right do you have to question me?'

Jason was really furious this time. He was going out of his mind trying to make sure that he kept Nancy safe from Richmond and here she was going out on dates and exposing herself to any abduction Richmond may have put in motion.

Why is this woman so stubborn?

'I hope you are not forgetting that the threat of Richmond is still hanging and we are supposed to take precautions?'

'I cannot live the test of my life in hiding or in fear of what Rodney would do to me. Let him make his move and I shall ensure that he fails but I shall definitely live my life as I see fit and anyway, what do you care?'

'I care because you are under my protection. I care because if any harm comes to you, I shall not forgive myself. I care because it is a question of my pride and dignity and your safety. Richmond' had challenged my ability to keep you from him and I sure will keep my word'.

'Oh, keeping me safe to you is a bet which you must win not that you really care.I am in your protection you say? You have done a great job of doing that which is why I am now scared of being in your company!'

Jason could not believe what she had just insinuated.

They had expressed their mutual desire for each other and she was talking about it as though it was some cheap thing which he should be ashamed of.

'I did not hear any complaints from you during our sessions together'.Jason said really furious with her.

Nancy quickly looked towards the children but thankfully, they were not within ear shot. They had moved away to play round a shrub.

'Why are you being a hypocrite? You enjoyed our kisses just as much as I. And if I remembered clearly, rather than complaints, all I heard was you moaning in pleasure and asking me not to stop'.

'You are crazy!' she said moving away.

Chris who had come out of the house and had heard the last part of Jason's words and seen Nancy's reaction bit back a laugh.

These two were too stubborn to see that they love each other dearly and wanted desperately to be together.

He coughed to alert Jason that he was around and this stopped Jason from going after Nancy.
