Chapter 41: Chapter 41
Pushing that to the back of her mind, they both entered the ward after changing into scrubs and Lisa could watch her baby girl even more freely. How she desired that she could wake up even now so that they could be together. The good thing was that the doctor already said that she was already healing properly even in her coma and she would be up in a few days’ time.
Just sitting by her side, she watched the rise and fall of her small chest and felt the faintest desire for a real family with Omar. She, her baby, and Omar. But could she really hope for such extravagance? On the other hand, thoughts on whether to tell Omar of his baby yet worried her, her mind coming up with endless possibilities of what could happen if he even knew. All this was just making her head swirl and threatening her with an oncoming migraine.
While there, Luke followed the two of them until he came to a stop outside of the ward. Curiosity was killing him, and he nearly impatiently bumped into them as they were coming out of the room, the good thing being that he hid away quickly. Just as they left, he got inside the room and was met with a surprise. There on the bed was a baby, a carbon copy of his face lying on the bed. What the hell was going on, Lucas thought as he asked himself. Who was she and why was she in the hospital?
When Omar finally came to Lisa’s place, it was to learn from tony that they had gone out shortly. So, he picked up his phone and called her and she answered on the second ring, sounding a bit flustered. “Hey … I came to pick you up at your place of work but tony said you weren’t around.”
“Did he say where I was?”
“No, he did not, why do you ask.”
“Ha-ha,” laughing nervously she replied, “it’s nothing, oh why did you come to pick me up, is there an emergency.”
“No, not really, I just wanted to see you. I missed you.”
Looking at Lexi, whose eyebrows were raised at her as she opened the driver’s door, she tried to cut him off. “It’s okay you do not have to pick me up I’ll come home.”
“I already made some reservations for our meal tonight I was really hoping to take you out.”
‘Okay, I’m not as busy but you should have asked me first. Otherwise, what if I’m not available.’
‘I’m sorry, it was my fault for not consulting you … ill cancel it.’
‘Sighing, no, no don’t cancel it, I will be joining you. Just don’t do it again.’
‘Okay, thanks very much, Lisa.’
The phone was disconnected at that. ‘Um, Lexi, I was kind of thinking of grabbing a taxi to somewhere I’ll be going.’
‘Huh, why do I smell something fishy here? You get a call and all of a sudden you want to go somewhere by yourself. Be honest, who are you meeting,’ she said as she wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.
‘Ha-ha stop being stupid, where will I be going? Is it not for that work I told you about? Now be a good girl and let me go.’
‘Ha-ha okay. I just need to figure out how to make your mouth open up and tell me all these secrets that you are hiding from me.’
‘Okay Lexi, I love you…kisses, see you later.’ She said as she blew kisses to her. Lexi on the other hand pretended to catch them and stuff them in her pocket.
Lexi then went on to drive past her as a taxi came to a stop just there. Climbing in, she ordered it to go to her workplace. She felt quite touched that Omar would think of her for dinner, and even though it irked her that he booked the dinner without her consent, deep down she felt elated and excited. And her heart buoyed a lot of hope and excitement subconsciously. When she finally got there, she found him waiting for her, and then they took off together.
‘Hey, sorry I booked dinner without asking you, I just thought we could grab dinner, not knowing you could have had prior engagements.’
‘Omar, it’s okay, besides I am quite famished so wherever this place is had better have good tasty food.’
‘Ha-ha, now that is something I can definitely assure you of. It’s one of the best steakhouses within this area.’
“That’s great then.”
He led her to the hotel and opened the door for her and they were shown to their tables. The place was quite classic, kind of where she used to dine back then when she was a money ‘princess’, she thought wistfully and sadly, bringing a feeling of melancholy to her. the places that used to excite me now did not. Shaking her head, she attempted to clear her head from all those distractions and try to live in that moment.
Pulling a chair for her, he sat her before he went to the opposite side and sat down.
‘So, Lisa, how are you today.’
‘Well, I am good thanks.’
‘I am glad, though I’m quite curious, is everything okay? I know I should be flattered that you accepted to help me out but I’m wondering why because I know with how angry you are at me, you wouldn’t just accept it so easily.’
‘Ha-ha Omar, wow, I’m speechless, don’t tell me you have brought me here to question me and to remind me of every bad thing. Of course, if I had an option, I wouldn’t even want to be within a hundred meters of you. You disgust me.’
