Chapter 36: Chapter 36

After the tragic meal, Omar found himself heading to the gym. It was the only way he knew to relax. The only way he could chase away all those demons that were plaguing him. Otherwise, he was on the verge of just leaving everything and disappearing but he knew that nothing could ever be solved by disappearing. No, he had to man up and face everything courageously.

That night, for three consecutive hours he practiced like the demons, were on his heel until he slumped down, his hands and legs feeling like rubber. Utterly exhausted. Hailing a cab, he returned to his apartment and the darkness there ate at his soul. He was utterly alone in there; Lisa would not be returning. Coming to think of it they had been married for three days and yet she had never spent a night in this place.

‘I’m guessing this is how it was supposed to be “Omar said as he sat on the couch, nursing a cold beer. ‘By yourself.’ Besides, Lisa would only be around for a short while and as much as he wanted her to stay, his feeling of inferiority and guilt was holding him back. He had been bad to her. If he was her. he would never forgive him, yet his heart thirsted for her forgiveness.

The last thought on his mind that night was how he had to get his shit together, otherwise, everything would fall apart. Who was he, he was Omar Hassan, and he excelled in survival and flourishing. If he had worked his ass out of the gutter to this luxury which now no longer held the meaning it had when he had been younger and homeless. Then he would get past all this. Since he wanted Lisa, then he had to just give his all toward pursuing her. he had to somehow convince her that he was really sorry and he loved her, more than anything else.

There had never been anyone else after her that he felt for even a tenth of what he felt for her. he had had lots of meaningless sex until he stopped because he realized that he was looking for Lisa in all of them. Every time he met a new woman, his mind would automatically compare her with Lisa. How he would get past all those roadblocks he did not know, but tomorrow would be a new day and with a new day came new opportunities.

After parting with Lisa, all Lexi could think of was that there was a reason for her putting on a dress. She could not lie to herself. She realized she had decided to put on her only dress the moment he had decided to visit Lisa at her workplace. Apart from checking up on Lisa, she had wanted to meet tony. She was secretly crushing on him. That was why she wanted him to see her for the girl she was.

Remembering how her heart thundered when she hears his voice and how her palms were sweating, she could not help but think how exhilarating it felt. Was that how it felt to be attracted to a man? She had never dated in her entire life and the fact that she was a virgin despite all that macho thing confidence put a dent in her desire. How she wanted to just hug and kiss him, but was it okay for her to approach the man first? Would it really make a difference?

That night, as Lexi lay on her bed, her mind constructed various fantasies that involve kissing tony all over. Falling asleep on that note, she saw tony walk toward her and somehow, he shared her crush. They were in love and he was dipping his head for a kiss. When their lips finally met it was as if the whole place had been lit with fireworks. Shivers ran down her torso as goosebumps developed along her arm. And then he deepened the kiss, hooking her leg across his torso. He carried her like that until he sat her on a counter. Then he took his time ravishing her with kisses. ‘

Her body was singing different tunes. She felt mellow and soft. Her breasts were heavy, her nipples itchy. She wanted him to do something about them yet she did not know what. Then there had been a warm flick of something pooling around her core. Every part of her was burning with desire. Just before they could do anything else, the alarm rang loudly causing her to curse out loud. This could not be happening. She quickly switched off the alarm and tried to get into the dream again, but there was no hope. It was already gone.

“Shit, stupid alarm, I should just kill you huh,” lexis cursed as she stood robotically from the bed, angry at the disruption of her dream. ‘I am going to show you who your owner is,’ she said as she picked up the damned alarm and threw it at the ground. She then gave a loud shout and threw herself on the bed while covering herself with a blanket. After calming down for a while, she realized that she was now alarmless, something she did not seem to understand its cause. ‘Ugg, anyway, I will just get a new one at the shop.’

Looking at her phone, she could not suppress the feeling of disappointment that rushed through her. somehow, she wanted and even willed for tony to text her. every time she thought of him, she did not know why her heart raced so much. Damn it. I should just call my baby Lisa otherwise I am going to burst with emotions. Opening a video call, she called Lisa who answered almost immediately.
